This paper reports the validity of the hypothesis that giving and receiving peer feedback during studio critique supports the assumption that the nature of feedback affects student learning and student perceptions of the quality of the learning experience. The research question is whether peer feedback operated under studio pedagogy has the potential of enhancing quality learning. The purpose of this study is to examine student perceptions of peer feedback in a studio-based learning environment. This is a case study where data was collected qualitatively. This study clearly demonstrates the positive perceptions of peer feedback held by design students and the influence these perceptions have on students’ learning outcomes.

This chapter aims to discuss the knowledge management in the travel services, since it has mobilized a variety of fields that seek to uncover the complexity of the process and the application contexts. In the era of globalization in which we live, the main factors that differentiate the companies and organizations depend increasingly on the quality of human capital management and knowledge management quality. This chapter analyzes how an organization of tourist services manages its knowledge. The methodology used was a qualitative analysis by applying an interview to a case study.

Interest is growing in educational designs that blend MOOCs with on-campus teaching and researchers are seeking to incorporate the spirit of a MOOC into a hybrid model. This article reports on the current experience of a higher education institution embarking on blended learning models. The aim of this article is to present a case study and to discuss the strategic approach to integrating a MOOC at undergraduate level. The evaluation strategy of this experience uses surveys and focus groups to interpret the results and the perspective of the various stakeholders. The analysis synthesizes the opinion of the main stakeholders – the institution, the students and the academic staff – and shows that in addition to improving the financial viability of MOOCs, blended learning models improve the quality of students' education, strengthen students' academic performance, and encourage academic staff to constantly innovate their teaching and learning process.

The aim to study were to determine 1) the quality of the learning process, and 2)students' perceptions of the learning. One of the strategies that couldaccommodate the learning is SETS approach combined with blended learning. The research used posttest only control design. The samples were IV semesterstudents who took chemistry environmental course which were consisted of classA (experimental group) class B (control group). The data were of quality of thelearning process obtained using observation sheets and student’s perceptionwhich is obtained with questionnaire. The results of the study were as follows.First, the quality of the learning process by using SETS learning strategiescombined with blended learning was better than by using SETS learningstrategies only. Second, students' perceptions of learning by using SETS learningstrategies combined with blended learning were more positive than using blendedlearning only.

Purpose of the study: The strategic and learning media course in the Informatics Engineering Education department for pre-service student teachers apply a blended learning method. The purpose of this method is to integrate between face-to-face meetings in the classroom and distance learning by using internet-based Learning Management System (LMS) media. This study aims to determine the perceptions of the informatics’ pre-service student teacher, which utilize the Google Classroom LMS. Methodology: The research method used online questionnaires and divergent questionnaires were analyzed with the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) approach and descriptive statistics. The factor analysis included the ease of access, perception of usefulness, communication and interaction, a perception of lecture delivery, student comfortability, and the effectiveness of the Google Classroom LMS. Main Findings: The results showed that most students felt the ease and improvement of the quality of the blended lectures using Google Classroom, although several notes needed further improvement and evaluation. Practical Implications: The findings suggest that the stakeholders of teacher training and education faculty could measure the level of perceivers and readiness of their pre-service student teachers on using Google Classroom in a blended-setting course. Further, the pre-service student teachers have experience in using this LMS so that they could apply this learning model for their students. Novelty/Originality of this study: This article found that students feel the satisfaction of using Google Classroom as an active and independent learning tool. This study also demonstrated consistency based on observations, surveys, and analysis of college students’ perceptions that the design of blended learning by using Google Classroom is still beneficial to the success of reaching the course outcomes.

This study aims to analyze the mapping of several supporting and inhibiting factors of knowledge management process in increasing the higher education capabilities of STAIN Gajah Putih. This study used case study as methodological approach by collecting data with interviews, observation, and documentation. The objects of this study are lecturer, staf and students. The result showed that; 1) The formation of a culture of knowledge sharing; 2) Facilities and infrastructure in supporting the process of knowledge management; 3) Public policy in using knowledge. In establishing capabilities based on the knowledge management process, STAIN Gajah Putih has fixed these deficiencies in terms of the knowledge management process by establishing good information validation, analyzing the needs of knowledge management process, and developing brainware through increasing the quantity and quality of human resources in the field of information technology.

This paper presents a case study that describes and discusses the problems encountered during the design and implementation of a blended learning course, largely taught online through a web-based learning environment. Based on Moore’s theory of transactional distance, the course was explicitly designed to have dialogue at its heart. However, the reality of systemic behaviours caused by delivering such a course within a group of conventional further and higher educational institutions has led to an entirely unanticipated reversion to structure, with unpleasant consequences for both quality and quantity of dialogue. The paper looks at some of the reasons for this drift, and suggests that some of the disappointing results (in particular in terms of the quality of the students’ experience and associated poor retention) can be attributed to the lack of dialogue, and consequent increase in transactional distance. It concludes with a description and evaluation of steps currently being taken to correct this behaviour.DOI: 10.1080/0968776042000216219

This study discusses some considerations in education to achieve a good quality of learning by utilizing technological advances such as E-Learning. This study uses a model of Community of Inquiry (COI) as a comparative study to improve the quality of E-Learning program. Implementation of COI model in discussionforum on BiNusMaya through E-Learning is able to improve the quality of a discussion as improvement of knowledge management. This study aims to provide a proposal to the Department of Information Systems Bina Nusantara University in enhancing the effectiveness of the use of discussion forums on BiNusMaya (ELearning). By presenting the survey results related to the Binusmaya current condition,s such constraints and development expectations of both the lecturers and students for Binusmaya can be described. In addition, the application of CoI model is presented in a learning process especially when meeting outside of class (without face-to-face). The results of this study is expected to be the basis for developing a COI model design and implementation plan in Management Information Systems course, that may improve the quality of the use of discussion forums as part of the knowledge management process in future study.

Purpose E-learning is a very popular concept in the education sector today, and one of the best ways to implement this is through blended learning. However, the implementation of blended learning program at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) is quite new in Bangladesh. The purpose of this paper is to explore the concept of blended learning, how to construct a blended learning program, the benefits of blended learning and some prerequisites to implement blended learning program successfully at HEIs in Bangladesh. Design/methodology/approach Nature of the study is explanatory, descriptive as well as evaluative. Primary data were collected through face-to-face interviews using structured questionnaire having both open- and close-ended questions including personal observations. Secondary data comprise relevant documents available from government agencies, archives, and library and research organizations. Findings By utilizing the blended learning tools, HEIs in Bangladesh can achieve radical improvements in education quality as well as in the accessibility and cost-effectiveness of learning programs. Moreover, any innovative educational reform will be successful only when it is fully accepted and adopted by all the key stakeholders: students, parents, teachers, academic administrators, researchers and policy makers. Practical implications Several practical solutions have been presented in this paper: how to create a blended learning program, how to overcome the obstacles for successful implementation of blended learning and how to create a flipped classroom with the aid of technology. Social implications A country’s soul and economic well-being depends to a large extent on the quality of their citizen’s education. Implementing innovative teaching programs within the education system will enhance the quality of education at HEIs in Bangladesh, creating more efficient labor force hence benefiting the overall society. Originality/value Originality in terms of exposing the hurdles that needs to be addressed for successful implementation of blended learning programs at HEIs in Bangladesh and providing an easy guideline to educators on how to create flipped classrooms.
