<p>The writer conducted this research because the students of the non-English department, FITK UIN Semarang could not write text well. They still wrote text with random way, and they did not understand the social function, the generic structure and the language feature of the text. Using peer review in writing class, the writer intended to improve students' writing especially recount, descriptive, procedure, and cause and effect texts. The had two problems: 1). How is the implementation of ‘peer review' writing for the FITK students of 2014/2015?; 2). How is the writing improvement of FITK students of 2014/2015 after applying ‘peer review’ writing? There are some texts introduced to the FITK students. The students are expected to be able to write text. Through classroom action research implementing peer review, the students’ writing ability had been improved well.</p>

There three points in this research. These are the proses of the use of paper seminar technic on writing class of English Department, the result of the use of paper seminar technic on writing class of English Department and obstacle of the use of paper seminar technic on writing class of English Department Art and Humanities Faculty, State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya. This research method is Classroom Action Research. There are two cycles of this research. The enhancement appeared from the first cycle to the second cycle. It can be seen from the main indicator that shows the improvement. There are some variables that are used but only two variables that are not increase, these are prewriting and drafting.  So it can be said that this research is success. While the obstacle of this research are the weakness of students competence of English especially writing skill and the infrastructures that are not support.

This research aimed at improving students’ skills of writing for the eleventh grade students of SMK TI Pembangunan Cimahi through the use of peer editing. It is expected that peer editing can be used to improve the students’ writing skill in recount text in SMK TI Pembangunan Cimahi. This research was an action research study that consisted of two cycles. In doing the research, the researcher involved 33 students of Class XI as the respondent of the research. The data was collected by observation and writing test. The result of this research indicated that peer editing improve student writing skill from cycle to cyle. It means peer editing technique can improve students writing skill.The researcher also found that peer editing was appropriate technique for students grade XI in SMK TI Pembangunan Cimahi. Beside of learning writing it self, by using this technique student also learnt how to be cooperative in pair, because peer editing was done by pairing. The students’ writing ability in recount text improved in two cycles from 52 in cycle 1 then improved to 72 in cycle 2. The improvements of this study were particularly in students’ writing on generic structure and language features of recount text.Keywords: peer editing, writing, vocational high school

The study is aimed at developing the Idea Listing Technique (ILT) to enhance the students‟ writing ability. The Classroom Action Research was applied in this study. The subjects of the study were 31 students, the students taking the course of Writing II, of the third semester of English Department of one State Islamic College at Palangka Raya, Indonesia, in the 2012/2013 academic year. The findings show that the implementation of ILT can enhance the students‟ ability in writing expository paragraph. It is indicated by the enhancements of the percentage of the students achieving the score greater than or equal to C (60-69), and of the percentage of their involvement in the writing activities during the implementation of ILT in Cycle I and II. Thus, the enhancement of the students‟ ability in writing expository paragraph can be reached but it should follow the appropriate procedures of the implementation of ILT having been developed.Keywords: Idea Listing Technique, Writing Ability, Paragraph Writing, Expository Paragraph

The purpose of this study is to look for a significant influence on the application of using  Wattpad  as learning activities on students' ability to write descriptive texts. The main consideration is because an educator in this case should  used interesting instructional media, particularly to teach writing so that the potential of students can be developed optimally. Meanwhile the development of writing of English Department Students of Putera Batam University is still relatively low in quality. Wattpad is an applications which provides the students  an opportunity to write, promote and help their writing  reach acroos  the world. The design of the research was quasi-experimental research that want to find out the effect of  using Wattpad towards students  writing ability. To know students’ writing ability, this research uses writing test as Instrument. There are three pre tests and post tests. The pre-test were used to see students writing ability before having treatment and posttest are used to see the differences on students  writing ability after giving treatments. The subjects were the students of English Department of Putera Batam University who took writing class. The data found that  using Wattpad has a significant effect on student’s writing ability. This conclusion can be seen based on the analysis that has been done where the obtained Z score was smaller than critical value, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Hi) was accepted. So, based on the results , it was concluded that there was statistically diffrence between the pre-test and post-test score at the 0.05 levels. It means that teaching writing  by using wattpad gives significant effect on students’ writing ability

This study is aimed to know teaching learning process in writing by using padlet application for Primary Education Department’s students whether there is improvement of students writing English skill by using that application. Subject of this research was third semester students of Primary Education Department. This is a Classroom Action Research. In collecting the data, the writer  used some techniques: observation, interview, and writing test. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Result of this research were: those application can be implemented as online writing practices every time that made students ability improve, the situation of wall in padlet can stimulate students to explore idea because they could upload video, recording, or picture suitable with topic that can support their writing. Students improvement in writing can be seen from postest score in every cycles. Based on the results above, it can be concluded that implementing padlet application can improve students Non English Department’ writing skill.

This study aims at investigating the effect of peer review on students’ writing ability and the students’ perceptions toward the use of peer review technique in writing class. This is an experimental research by involving 62 EFL students of eighth graders of a Junior High School in Malang, Indonesia. The data were obtained by conducting a writing (pre-test an post-test) and giving questionnaire. The data were analyzed by using quantitative descriptive statistics. The qualitative data expressed descriptively about students perceptions toward using peer review technique in writing acitvity. The findings shows that the students in experimental group who were taught by using peer review technique got better achievement in writing ability than the students in control group who were taught by using self-assessment strategy. The use of peer review technique in writing class makes the class less anxious and more enjoyable. The students are enthusiastic so that the class become more student-centered. The students are able to interact each other in giving comments and suggestions to reduce mistakes in terms of global and local issues to make better subsequent of writing product. In addition, the result of questionnaire shows that the students have positive attitudes toward the use peer review technique in writing class.

<p>Writing is considered as a difficult skill in learning English. That’s way the teacher should creative and innovative in teaching writing. One of methods that can be used in teaching writing is PjBL (Project Based Learning). The purpose of this article is to examine the uses of PjBL can improve students’ writing capability. It is based on the classroom action research with the subject is the students of fourth semester of English department of Widya Dharma University. The findings of the research imply that PjBL is very effective. The implementation of PjBL improved the students’ writing capability. PjBL enables the students to be more active to explore their ideas. By doing the project, the students can work together and share their ideas and knowledge with others. It makes the learning activity is not teacher centered but student centered, because most of the activity is done by the students. This study is aimed at describing students’ ability in writing descriptive texts viewed from analytic assessment presented by O’Malley and Pierce, involving composing, style, sentence formation, usage and mechanics. The study was conducted by applying a descriptive quantitative-qualitative method. The data were taken from 15 descriptive texts made by the second semester students of English Department, Pancasakti University Tegal 2018/2019. The result of the study shows that there are 33.4% of the students are “good”, 40% of the students are “fair”, and 26.6% of the students are “bad”. The students mean score is 65 (fair), and the scores of each components are as follows: composing is 71.6, style is 66.2, sentence formation is 60, usage is 55.7, and mechanics is 55. The result also shows that the texts are developed trough correct generic structure involving identification and descriptions. The writer suggested that the students need to study harder and practice more frequently to increase their writing ability, specifically in mechanics as their weakness in writing.

This investigation examined the use of Literacy-Instructional Category on students’ reading comprehension. Particularly, there are two objectives of the study. The first is to explore the students’ writing improvement when they engaged in the first cycle of reading activities by employing literacy instructional categories. The second is to explore the students’ reading comprehension by using instructional categories. Thirty students from English Department of IAIN Salatiga participated in the study and they were in the third semester. A classroom action research was employed to answer the research problems. Three cycles were done to complete this action research. Based on the score result gathered from the cycles, the students’ reading comprehension improved. The student’s scores were not more than sixty because they did not understand intensively rereading activities in cycle one. But students’ score increased in cy- cle two and cycle three. In cycle three, rereading activities followed transformed practice (critical framing) lead the better improvement in their reading comprehension.

<p>The study is aimed at developing the implementation of Writing Process Approach (WPA) to enhance the students’ skill in writing essay. The study employed Classroom Action Research. The subjects of the study were 15 university students enrolled in the writing class. The data were gained from writing task, observation and field notes. The findings show that the implementation of WPA with the proper model procedures developed can enhance the students’ skill in writing essay. Before the strategy was implemented, the percentage of the students achieving the score greater than or equal to C (56-70) was 40.00% (6 students of the class). However, after the strategy was implemented in Cycle I, it enhanced enough to 60.00%<strong> </strong>(9 students of the class), but this result did not meet the criteria of success set up in the study. Next, in Cycle II it increased slightly to 86.67%<strong> </strong>(13 students of the class). Thus, the enhancement of the students’ skill in writing essay can be reached but it should follow the proper model procedures of the implementation of WPA developed.</p><p><strong>Keywords</strong>: <em>writing</em><em> process approach, writing skill, essay writing</em><em></em></p>
