Abstract Despite the modern boom in technology, we are still faced with the fact that people write texts without diacritics. There are two main reasons for this. The first, historical reason stems from the past when the use of diacritics was troublesome and people would write text without them. The second one is the speed - typing without diacritics is usually faster. Text without diacritics is easy to understand for people, but for some types of documents, missing diacritics can cause a problem. This is also an issue when computers process such text. In this paper, we propose an algorithm based on word n-grams (a contiguous sequence of n words) that can restore diacritics of text written in the Slovak language. We also compare and evaluate our results with other algorithms developed for Slovak text.

Speech recognition and eyeball position can be applied in computer devices to control the useful software to facilitate people in their life. Handicapped people suffer the difficulty of using computers themselves and to spend some basic needs and necessities, usually need another person to help them in that. This assistance is achieved through the design of special system for controlling computer using voice commands and eye ball tracking. Voice recognition allows you to rapidly write text just by speaking to your computer. Accuracy varies depending on your accent, how fast you speak, surrounding noise levels and subject nature. Eye tracking is a technique to measure either the point of gaze (where someone is gazing) or the motion of an eye relative to the head. This research focused on writing the next paragraph. The researcher applied the POW+TREE Strategy in the experimental class. While in control class the researcher did not apply the strategy. Further, the researchers gave two tests for the students, pre and post-test. Then, the researchers gave pretest before giving the treatment. And then, the researchers gave post-test after applied the treatment in the experimental class. The result of students’ score in the control class was, the researchers got a mean score of pre-test was 46.17. While, in post-test, the researcher got a mean score was 60.67. However, the researcher got the students’ mean score in the experimental class was 49.5. After the researchers applied the POW+TREE Strategy, the mean score of students become 65.50.
