Milk and dairy products play an important role in human diet due to their high nutritional and biological value, as well as to their easy digestibility. Milk powder makes it possible to improve the seasonal character of dairy foods. As a solvent in the production of reconstituted milk, water can significantly affect the quality of the finished product. In this regard, the problem of water quality and its preparation for the production of reconstituted milk is highly relevant. The method of separate freezing allows one to reduce the number of pre-treatment stages and energy costs. The research objectives were 1) to establish the effect of separate freezing on water quality indicators, 2) to determine the solubility index of milk powder in water prepared by the method in question, 3) to definethe energy costs. The research was carried out on the basis of the Department of Heat, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Equipment (Kemerovo State University). The study was conducted with the help of a tank crystallizer with a controlling and measuring complex for registration of temperatures at temperatures from minus 2 to minus 10 C. In defining the quality of water and reconstituted milk, the authors used standard methods for determining its organoleptic and physico-chemical parameters. The study made it possible to define the organoleptic and physico-chemical parameters of water before and after separate freezing, the solubility index of dry milk, and the quality of reconstituted milk obtained by the method. The research revealed that it is energetically more advantageous to carry out the procedure at the temperature of minus 2 C. The present paper describes the numerous advantages of the method in that it reduces: 1) the dry residue content in tap water by 8 times, 2) the overall hardness of water by 2.5 times, 3) the content of chlorides and fluorides by 1.7 and 1.9 times, respectively, 4) the solubility index of milk powder from 0.35 to 0.1 cm3. All these factors improve the quality of reconstituted milk.

Security of supply of water, which meets the quality parameters specified in applicable standards, is now the basis for the functioning of most societies. In addition to climatic, biological, chemical, and physical hazards, it is worth paying attention to consumers’ subjective perception of the quality of tap water supplied in the area of Poland. The article discusses various activities related to water resources management and analyses the results of an evaluation of selected quality parameters of tap water in Poland. A novelty on a European scale here is an examination of the evaluation of these parameters based on potential seasonal differences (spring, summer, autumn, winter). For the first time in the world literature, PROFIT analysis was used to evaluate selected parameters of tap water quality. The aim of the article was to present a model for the evaluation of the parameters of tap water supplied in different seasons of the year in Poland. Due to the complexity of the research aspects, a mixed-methods research procedure was used in which a literature review was combined with a survey and statistical analysis. For the purpose of the survey, an original survey questionnaire called “Survey of customer opinions on selected parameters of tap water supplied in Poland” was developed especially for this study. The conducted research confirmed the adopted hypothesis that the results of evaluation of selected tap water parameters vary depending on the period (spring, summer, autumn, winter) in Poland. The model developed by means of PROFIT analysis makes it possible to highlight to water suppliers the specific quality parameters in particular seasons of the year (spring, summer, autumn, winter), which may improve the quality of water supplied in Poland and thus, in the long-term perspective, increase the level of satisfaction of water recipients and confidence in drinking tap water in Poland.

This paper shows the results obtained in field analysis performed at the Tamis River, starting from the settlement Jasa Tomic - border between Serbia and Romania to Pancevo - confluence of Tamis into the Danube. The Tamis is a 359 km long river rising in the southern Carpathian Mountains. It flows through the Banat region and flows into the Danube near Pancevo. During the years the water quality of the river has severely deteriorated and badly affected the environment and the river ecosystem. In situ measurements enabled determination of physico-chemical parameters of water quality of the Tamis River on every 400 m of the watercourse, such as: water temperature, pH value, electrical conductivity, contents of dissolved oxygen and oxygen saturation. The main reason of higher pollution of Tamis is seen in connection to DTD hydro system. Sampling was performed at 7 points with regard to color, turbidity, total hardness, alkalinity, concentration of ammonium nitrogen, nitrite nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, iron, chlorides and sulphates in samples. The aim of the present work was to evaluate water quality in the Tamis River taking into account significant pollution, which originates from settlements, industry and agriculture, and to suggest appropriate preventive measures to further pollution decreasing of the river's water.

Groundwater is generally used for various purposes, particularly domestic and industrial purposes in all over the world. Fresh water from groundwater sources is high in the recent years and the groundwater is polluted high because of rapid population and industrial growth. It is very difficult to restore the contaminated groundwater by various pollutants.  Hence, it is important to analyse physico-chemical parameters of groundwater for its need for various sectors. Therefore, the present study was under taken to define the quality of groundwater with the help of WQI. The ground water samples were collected from 20 different places around Ambattur Industrial Estate in Chennai city. The groundwater quality assessment showed that the water quality of bore wells around Ambattur Industrial Estate is poor for drinking purpose as per WQI for BIS acceptable limit.  WQI observed from those selected 20 groundwater bore wells are ranging from 63.30 to 219.63.   The analysis reveals that the groundwater from the Ambattur Industrial Estate needs pre-treatment before it is being used for various purposes.

The East Coast of Surabaya consists of large mangrove and fish pond areas. These areas are crucial for the ecosystem and for providing food and shelter for the local community. If the water quality decreases the mangroves will not be able to provide these functions. The water quality of these areas can be measured in two ways: by looking at the physico-chemical parameters or by looking at the biological parameters. Both offer a very good view of what state the area is in. The purpose of this study is to find out what the differences are between the Mulyorejo and the Wonorejo areas to see what differences there are within the East Coast of Surabaya and what could be the main cause of these differences. The data shows that the physico-chemical data does not comply with the limitation factors. The main problem are the nutrients which will have to be lowered to preserve the ecosystem. In terms of the biological state of the mangrove, there are few problems found. It is, however, unclear why the tree density in one of the Wonorejo areas is declining and it should be determined what the reason for this is.

The Alaknanda River is one of the main rivers of Alaknanda sub- system which bubbles out from Alkapuri Glacier. Water quality of the sacred river Alaknanda was evaluated by microbiological and physico- chemical methods. The sampling was undertaken from various sites of lower stretches, including Rudraprayag (530 m a.s.l.), Srinagar (560 m a.s.l.) and Deoprayag upstream (457 m a.s.l.) on the river Alaknanda. A perusal of the data revealed that total viable count (CFU.ml-1) was recorded minimum (25,850 CFU.ml-1) in winter season and then it increased during summer (45,730 CFU.ml-1) and attained peak (56,110 CFU.ml-1) during monsoon season, when the maximum degradation in the water quality was observed. Due to the onset of autumn and winter seasons, the quality of water improved substantially and the density of the bacteria decreased (32,120 CFU.ml-1) significantly during autumn from the monsoon season. It is revealed that the myriad of physico- chemical environmental variables and nutrient load from various sources in the habitat environment are responsible for density and diversity in the sacred river Alakanda.
