This paper presents the results of a statistical analysis of empirical facts obtained on the basis of the implementation of the author's program of social and psychological support of foreign students’ intercultural adaptation. The main directions of the program are: the development of social and personal skills, the overcoming of the negative phenomena, the development of social and psychological characteristics of a foreign student’s personality. Statistical analysis revealed significant changes in the social and psychological aspects of foreign students’ intercultural adaptation on the basis of the application of support program: situational anxiety, subjective well-being, cultural distance, ethnic tolerance, culture shock, affective component of ethnic identity, adaptability, interactivity, depression, estrangement.

The current study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention based on the Sport Education model, compared to an intervention based on the traditional model of Direct Instruction in children. The intervention was carried out during school hours for 18 sessions of 50-min each. The sample was made up of 146 children aged 10–12 years (M = 10.78 years; SD = 1.07 years). Participants were randomly assigned to the experimental group (n = 87) and a control group (n = 59). A quasi-experimental design with repeated pretest and posttest evaluations with the control group was implemented. The Positive and Negative Affect Scale for children and adolescents (PANASN) was used to assess the affective component of subjective well-being. The Child and Adolescent Behavior Assessment System (BASC) was used to assess psychosocial adjustment. The results showed significant improvements in the affective component of subjective well-being and a reduction in anxiety in favor of the experimental group. Our current results show the methodological and practical efficacy of a Sport Education intervention.

Una de las finalidades más importantes en el contexto de los servicios deportivos es conocer cuáles son las intenciones futuras del usuario, por ello tratar de analizar la lealtad del usuario, se ha convertido en una de los objetivos principales dentro de la gestión del deporte, en concreto, los centros deportivos. Por ello, el objetivo es conocer que influencia tienen las demás variables de gestión y el bienestar subjetivo sobre esta dimensión que mide las intenciones futuras del usuario, como es la lealtad. La muestra de este trabajo estaba formada por 303 usuarios de la instalación deportiva (164 hombres, 139 mujeres). Para el análisis estadístico se utilizó con el programa SPSS v.23. Todas las variables que formaban el modelo obtuvieron buenos resultados en cuanto a la fiabilidad, siendo el valor emocional el que mayor valor de alfa de Cronbach obtuvo. Tras calcular los estadísticos descriptivos de las diferentes escalas del modelo, se realiza un análisis de regresión múltiple, y se observa como este explica el 38% de la varianza, mostrando todas las variables significatividad con la lealtad del usuario, menos la variable que mide el valor precio. Tras conocer que variables influyen más en la predicción de la lealtad, ofrecer a los gestores deportivos información acerca de qué variables reforzar, ayudará a obtener usuarios más leales y en consecuencia fieles con el servicio. Abstract. One of the most important purpose in the context of sports services is to know what the costumer's future intentions are, so trying to analyze costumer loyalty has become one of the main objectives within the management of sport, specifically sports centers. Therefore, the aim is to know what influence the other management variables and subjective well-being have on this dimension that measures the future intentions of the costumer, such as loyalty. The sample of this work was made up of 303 costumers of the sports centre (164 men, 139 women). For statistical analysis it was used with SPSS v.23. All the variables that formed the model obtained good results in terms of reliability, being the emotional value the one that obtained the highest alpha value of Cronbach. After calculating the descriptive statistics of the different scales of the model, a multiple regression analysis is carried out, and it is observed how this one explains 38% of the variance, showing all the variables significance with the loyalty of the user, excepting the variable that measures the price value. After knowing which variables influence loyalty prediction, providing sports managers with information about which variables to reinforce will help to obtain more loyal costumers and consequently faithful to the service.

The Affect Balance Scale (ABS) was developed to assess the affective component of subjective well-being. This study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of ABS in a non-probabilistic sample composed of 2241 individuals in the general population in Argentina, ages ranging from 18 to 89 years (M = 37.53; SD = 14.80). The results suggest acceptable psychometric properties within the sample. Excellent adjustment to the data of the two-dimensional model is observed through confirmatory factor analysis. Results of the factorial invariance analysis of gender conducted indicate that both groups are equivalent in terms of the factor structure under investigation. Internal consistency was also found to be adequate. As a result, the study contributed to assessing positive and negative affect in Spanish speaking populations.

The purpose of this study was to determine UNS foreign students adaptation strategies when overcoming cultural shock. The research method is qualitative with a descriptive approach, iIn determining the informant used purposive sampling technique. Sources of data used here are primary source and secondary source. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Source triangulation and method triangulation were used to get a valid data. Data were analyzed using the intercultural adaptation theory by Yong Yun Kim, to look for adaptation strategies undertaken by foreign students in facing culture shock. The findings of the data show that foreign students experience the phenomenon of culture shock and go through several phases including planning, honeymoon, frustration, readjustment and resolution. Foreign students found several obstacles as their survival challenges including communication, type of food, religious life, use of language, stereotypes, customs, weather and climate, facilities and services, and education system. The conclusion of this research is there are five adaptation strategies undertaken by foreign students namely; personal communication, host social communication, ethnic social communication, environment and predisposition.

While there has been a growing interest in the relationship between perceived tourism impacts and residents’ quality of life, little is known about how residents’ well-being is affected by actual tourist arrivals. This article studies the effect of international tourist arrivals on the subjective well-being—happiness and life satisfaction—of residents in European countries. Data come from the six waves of the European Social Survey, conducted in 32 countries in 2002-2013. The results of the OLS fixed-effects and instrumental-variable estimations suggest that tourist arrivals reduce residents’ life satisfaction. This negative relationship tends to be more pronounced in countries where tourism intensity is relatively high, as well as among people living in rural areas. In addition, tourist arrivals have a greater negative relationship with the evaluative component of subjective well-being (life satisfaction) than its affective component (happiness).

Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT) is an international institute of Thammasat University (TU), located in Pathum Thani, Thailand. The courses are offered in English, and many foreign students are studying at SIIT-TU. The classes have been suspended since 16 March 2020 to slow down the COVID-19 disease spread, and the students are suggested to study online at home. The present study intends to understand the at-home activities and well-being of foreign students. A web-based survey was conducted from 22 through 23 March 2020 to record the activities and well-being of the students on 20 and 21 March 2020. Happiness and stress levels with the seven-points Likert scales were considered as the two output variables (1 = lowest and 7 = highest). The ordered probit model was applied to develop the subjective well-being models, taking into account at-home activities. The results highlighted that students who were happier were more likely to study for longer at home, but that studying for longer increases stress levels. Students who were less happy and more stressed were more likely to speak on the phone for longer, while doing exercise at home for longer increased the likelihood of happiness. This paper contributes to a better understanding of at-home activities associated with well-being of foreign students in Thailand during the COVID-19 outbreak.
