An intervention program with women victims of gender violence is designed and addressed evaluating effects on social effectiveness by analyzing: perceptions, sensations and adverse behaviors that have an impact on their health and reduce their quality of life. Self-regulated group techniques were used. The sample consisted of 66 women, in the age range of 17 to 21 years, 33 women in the treatment group and 33 women in the control group. A workshop was designed to identify risk factors and promote coping strategies for proactive adaptation. For this effect, we worked with a quasi-experimental design using repeated measures, Ex ante (pretest)-intervention-Ex post (posttest), with a control group. It was carried out in a weekend mode for 11 weeks in a 6-hour workshop mode, a total of 66 hours. The intervention addressed pro-social strategies considering risk factors, endemic aspects of violence, among others, modulation of negative cognitive and behavioral processes and of physio-affective responses labeled to lead at risk to the evolution of individual pathologies that normally lead to depression processes, generalized anxiety, chronic stress and post trauma nature. The program exerted significant changes determined by the analysis of variance and of moderate to high effects demonstrated by Cohen’s d, the differences in pre and post-treatment means in pro-social aspects, in terms of risk factors, among others, in the Negative cognitive and behavioral processing and physio-affective responses that shaped traits of generalized anxiety, and post-traumatic stress in young women.

This article investigated the impact of a robotic-based enrichment program on problem finding (PF) and active-openminded thinking skills (AOT) in 60 gifted female students. The participants were randomly selected from several cohorts of gifted students who participated in an enrichment summer program. The study instruments included the Problem Generation test and the AOT scale, which were administered to the participants at the beginning and at the end of the program. The change in the measured program outcomes after attending the robotics intervention program was assessed by regressing post-test scores on pre-test scores. The results revealed differences for the three subscales of AOT as well as the total score in favour of post-test condition. As for PF, fluency scores showed no significant differences between pre-test and post-test, while originality scores were significantly higher for the post-test scores.

Reading proficiency and academic performance are both of paramount importance to a learner’s holistic academic success. These aspects of a student’s journey must not be taken for granted regardless of their locale, cultural context, and academic setting. Consequently, this intellectual endeavor examined the correlation of said factors. It first probed into the students’ profile and determined their reading proficiency level (RPL) and academic performance (AP) in English based on the Phil-IRI result and mean percentage scores. Using descriptive-correlational analysis, the study investigated the significant differences in the RPL of the students when grouped according to their profile variates and the significant relationship between their AP and RPL. Findings revealed that the latter differed in terms of sex, parents’ highest educational attainment, parents’ occupation, and a number of days of attendance in school, but similar along with age, nutritional status, and attitude toward reading. Students showed a favorable AP in reading as depicted in the positive coefficient result, suggesting a direct proportional linear relationship indicating that students with higher RPL manifested higher AP than those whose reading performance was on the average only. Hence, the study inferred that students need an intervention program for their reading skills and in becoming independent readers. Also, as female students were proven to manifest higher RPL, it was recommended that teachers provide enhancement activities for male students to be at par with their female counterparts. Thus, this empirical information would be beneficial to both schools and educators in strengthening every learner's reading proficiency and academic performance.

The study instruments included the Problem Generation (PG) test and the Active-Openminded Thinking (AOT) scale, which were administered to the participants at the beginning of the program and at the end of the program. The study was conducted with the main objective to study the significance of relationship of adjustment and happiness of male and female students with loneliness. To find out the gender difference on adjustment, happiness and loneliness. A random sample 100 male and 100 female students studying in various department of University were selected for the study. They were administered with UCLA loneliness scale (Russell D. 1996), CAT (Pennebaker, J.W., Colder, M., and Sharp, L.K. 1990) and Subjective happiness scale (Lyubomirsky, S., and Lepper, H, 1999). The results revealed that the female students with high negative affect have expressed significantly higher loneliness. The male students with high loneliness have expressed lower positive affect, higher negative affect, home sickness and higher overall adjustment problems. This study calls for a planned intervention program for the students who are new; come to join University and further calls from imparting coping skills.

BACKGROUND: Mood disorders such as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), obsessive-compulsive disorders, and other mental disorders could be due to obesity which is a prevalent condition among majority of population nowadays, whereas changes in anxiety level of individuals are also thought to have an influence on body mass index (BMI). AIM: The objective of the study was to investigate the relationship between BMI and anxiety status among Ahlia University students. METHODS: A total of 80 male and female students from different colleges of Ahlia University were included in our study. Their ages ranged between 18 and 25 years old with different BMI. The students were asked to fill a (GAD 7 scale) questionnaire related to anxiety level; their BMI was calculated. RESULTS: There was a significant relationship between BMI and anxiety status (negative correlation) (p < 0.019). CONCLUSIONS: We concluded that BMI is inversely proportional to anxiety level, the reduction in BMI level is linked with elevated anxiety level and vice versa.

The present study aimed to explore the effectiveness of an educational program based on psychodrama to develop social interaction skills and mental toughness of a sample of victimized children of wars and crisis. The study sample consisted of 52 male and female students from primary school who have experienced wars and crisis. Additionally, the researcher used both social interaction skills scale and mental toughness scale for the study sample. The results of the study showed statistically significant differences between the experimental group and the control group on the mental toughness scale and social interaction skills scale for the experimental group. Overall, the researcher suggested that the intervention program contributed to the improvement of social interaction skills and mental toughness of the experimental group.
