Polypoid endometriosis is an uncommon and distinctive variant of endometriosis with histologic features simulating those of an endometrial polyp which is found most often in the colon and ovary. The cervix is an infrequent site for polypoid endometriosis. We report a 40-year-old female presented with irregular bleeding and on examination detected to have an endocervical polyp. She underwent polypectomy and histopathological examination suggested polypoid endometriosis. She remained asymptomatic during two years of follow-up.Polypoid endometriosis is a variant of endometriosis that may be mistaken for a neoplasm on clinical and pathologic examination. There is often a delay in diagnosis resulting in unnecessary suffering and reduced quality of life. Though a rare entity, it should be considered in the differential diagnosis of all cervical polyp.

Tuberculosis of the oral cavity which is an uncommon occurrence can be primary or secondary. In the absence of active pulmonary tuberculosis, isolated tonsillar tuberculosis is rare. Herein, we report two cases of bilateral tonsillar tuberculosis who presented as recurrent sore throat for which tonsillectomy was done. No active primary pulmonary lesion was found in these cases. Histopathological examination revealed caseating epithelioid granulomas with Langhans giant cells. Ziehl Neelson stain for acid fast bacilli was positive in one case. Tonsillar tuberculosis, though a rare entity, should be considered in the clinical differential diagnosis of tonsillar lesions. Histopathological examination with Ziehl Neelson stain should be performed for definite diagnosis.

Bipolar disorder is a biologically and phenotypically diverse disorder and its diagnosis and treatment provides a significant challenge to even the most seasoned clinician. We provide an update on the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of bipolar disorder, reflecting recent changes in DSM-5. Our review provides a succinct summary of the treatment literature, encompassing pharmacologic and psychosocial interventions for bipolar depression, mania/hypomania, mixed states, and prevention of disease recurrence. We provide a brief critical review of emerging treatment modalities, including those used in treatment resistance. Challenges involved in maintaining adherence are further discussed. Additionally, we review common treatment adverse effects and provide recommendations for proper side effect monitoring. There is evidence of significant functional impairment in patients with bipolar disorder and we conclude with a discussion of the impact of impairment on prognosis and quality of life. This review contains 4 figures, 8 tables, and 45 references. Key Words: bipolar disorders, differential diagnosis, maintenance pharmacotherapy, prognosis, psychosocial interventions, treatment, quality of life

Immune checkpoint inhibitors targeting programmed cell death protein 1 pathways are generally well tolerated, but immune-related adverse events have been observed in more than 80% of all patients. Rheumatic and musculoskeletal immune related adverse events have to date not been widely recognized or well characterized. Psoriasic arthritis is a rare entity and it makes management of patients difficult due to the limited therapeutic possibilities and the strong impact on the quality of life. The majority of cases were treated with glucocorticoids, in some cases not enough. We present the case of a patient with psoriasic arthritis and report cases described in literature of patients treated with apremilast, a small oral molecule that inhibits of phosphodiestherase 4.

AbstractTic disorders may manifest in a wide variety of clinical presentations, ranging from single tics of relatively short duration to a series of complex tics that may last for years. An understanding of the etiology of various tic disorders is essential to establish a differential diagnosis of Tourette syndrome (TS). Because TS is incurable, improvement in quality of life is the primary goal of pharmacologic therapy. Although neuroleptics have been the most effective medications to date in managing the symptoms of TS, they may have significant adverse effects that limit their use. Several alternative pharmacologic options are either available or under investigation.

Abstract Men and women with bleeding disorders have similar symptoms but their experiences are different. It has been shown that women with a bleeding disorder rate their quality of life on a par with that of men with haemophilia who have HIV. Many factors determine quality of life, ranging from delay in diagnosis, to access to treatment and support from family and friends. Women should ask themselves what is important to them and recognise the barriers that determine whether they can achieve their aims in life. Quality of life instruments do not measure the impact of these disorders in a way that is specific to women. Psychosocial health – i.e. the mental, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of what it means to be healthy – can have a major impact on quality of life. Women with bleeding disorders face a number of challenges to their psychosocial health. They struggle to be believed, they live with guilt, and they may have to fight for the best care for their children. They face obstacles to building relationships and their experiences can leave them isolated. Perhaps because of this, women with bleeding disorders are strong – but they also need to be encouraged to make time for themselves and look after their mental health.

Pilocytic astrocytoma of the cerebellum in the pediatric age is the most frequent benign tumor lesion of the nervous system in children according to the WHO. International literature mentions that being low-grade tumors they have a high curative capacity. If the entire tumor is resected, when it is completely removed, survival increases with a high quality of life for children who presented this pathology and was treated on time. However, the delay in diagnosis and therefore in its treatment could generate the possibility of tumor transformation, the malignant nature of the transformed injuries has a very high morbidity and mortality, without mentioning that the degree of cognitive sequelae greatly affects the quality of life of the survivors. That is why the training of pediatric and non-pediatric first contact doctors imply a great responsibility since it gives the population and patients suffering from this nosology the possibility to improve their future life, as well as reduce the cost of the impact caused by the injuries they suffer. On the other hand, these tumors can transform generating devastating prognoses, without taking into account the economic and social repercussions of patients suffering from a low-grade tumor. When it is detected and treated assertively in a timely manner, it offers them greater opportunities than those who did not have such a timely diagnosis.

Primary pancreatic lymphoma is an extremely rare tumor of pancreas which clinico-radiologically mimics with pancreatic adenocarcinoma. The disease is diagnosed often after radical resection of pancreas. We report a case of 63 years old Chinese gentle man with diagnosis of Primary pancreatic lymphoma who was diagnose after surgical resection. Primary pancreatic lymphoma should also be considered as differential diagnosis in pancreatic tumors. There can be some radiological clues but accurate diagnosis depends on histopathological examination. Definitive treatment still remains controversial.
