Evaluation of the impact from the discharge of treated sewage on the south-east Saronicos Gulf through mathematical water quality modelling

The paper presents the results of a study of the impact caused by the discharge of treated sewage from the south-west Attiki area to the south-east coast of the Saronicos Gulf. The study involved the application of a eutrophication-dissolved oxygen model which, following validation on the basis of field measurements, was applied to predict the impact of three different biological treatment configurations, with and without nutrients removal, as well as three alternative disposal sites on the quality of the receiving waters. The simulation results show that nitrogen is the limiting nutrient and that its removal during treatment results in a substantial improvement of the quality of the recipient. The disposal site is a critical factor in the case of a biological treatment scheme exhibiting carbon removal, but it is of limited importance in the case of treatment systems with nitrogen removal.

The purpose of the research is to identify effi cient microfertilizers and growth stimulants considering biologi- cal features of new corn hybrids of different FAO groups under irrigation conditions in the South of Ukraine and trace their impact on grain productivity of the plants. The methods of the research are the fi eld method – to study the interaction of the research object with experimental factors of the natural environment, to register the yield and evaluate the biometrical indices; the laboratory method – to measure soil moisture, grain moisture content and grain quality indices; the statistical method – to evaluate the reliability of the obtained results; the calculation methods – for economic and energetic assessment of the growing techniques used. The results of the research. The paper defi nes the impact of microfertilizers and growth stimulants on the yield and grain quality of the corn hybrids of different maturity groups and on the economic effi ciency of growing them. The conclusions of the research. Under irrigation conditions of the Southern Steppe of Ukraine it is recommended that the following hybrids should be grown in dark-chestnut soils: early maturity DN Pyvykha, medium-early Skadovskyi, medium maturity Kakhovskyi and medium-late Arabat, using the growth stimulants – treating the seeds with Sezam-Nano and fertilizing with Grainactive at the stage of 7–8 leaves.

Abstract The main objective of the current study was to assess the impact of the water taken from the ‘Tunisian Refining Industries Company’ on meiobenthic nematodes, before and after a series of treatments in decantation basins followed by its discharge in Bizerte bay, Tunisia. The comparison of environmental parameters of the two types of water was clearly indicative of an improvement in the quality of treated waters after a significant reduction in their loads in hydrocarbons. Overall, the water retained a good quality after being treated by ‘Tunisian Refining Industries Company’ before discharge in the sea. At the end of the experiment, differential responses were observed according to the richness of sediment in organic matter and hydrocarbons. Thus, it was apparent that the nematode assemblage exposed to the treated waters was closer to controls and associated to higher values of abundance, than that under untreated ones. It was also assumed that the species Microlaimus honestus De Man, 1922, Paramonohystera proteus Wieser, 1956 and Cyartonema germanicum Juario, 1972 are sensitive bioindicators of bad environmental statues and of hydrocarbon presence in the environment. On the other hand, Metoncholaimus pristiurus (Zur Strassen, 1894) Filipjev, 1918 would rather be classified as a positive bioindicative species of this type of pollutants.

Background An internal evaluation of the inpatient pharmacy order entry database ( WORx) at a university hospital revealed that the nature of the reaction was documented for only 47% of patients with reported drug allergies/intolerance. Insufficient documentation of drug allergy/intolerance may result in administration of drugs that should not be prescribed. Similarly, valuable agents that should be used may not be prescribed due to an unnecessary fear of adverse drug reaction. More complete description of drug allergy/intolerance may result in more correct prescribing of medications. Objective Evaluate the impact of a pharmacist-driven protocol on the quality of drug allergy/intolerance documentation. Methods Four pre-intervention evaluations were conducted every 2 weeks documenting the completeness of drug allergy/intolerance information in the pharmacy order entry database. One week following the implementation of a pharmacist-driven protocol intended to improve the completeness of drug allergy/intolerance information, a series of 4 postintervention evaluations was repeated. Proportional analysis of pre- and postinterventional data was performed to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. Results A total of 1,686 allergies from 2,174 patients were reviewed pre and post intervention. The frequency of complete drug allergy/intolerance documentation pre intervention was 52% to 62%. Following implementation of the hospitalwide, pharmacist-driven protocol, this rate increased to 60% to 76%. Pediatric services demonstrated the most substantial improvement, increasing from 53% to 79% to 67% to 93%. Blank reaction fields decreased by 10% in both age groups. Conclusion A pharmacy-driven initiative intended to improve the completeness of drug allergy/intolerance documentation was associated with modest success. Other mechanisms, including electronic health record systems with computerized physician order entry and decision support, are needed to improve the completeness of drug allergy/intolerance information.

The presence of Cirebon coal-fired power plant I and II caused negative effects to coastal morphology and the quality of marine waters. This also have negative impacts to the fisherman around that sea. This study aims to examine the impact of the Cirebon coal-fired power plant on the water quality of Mundu Bay, Cirebon Regency. Water quality is determined based on total suspended solids (TSS), sea surface temperatures (SST), chlorophyll-A, and salinity in the range 1999 – 2019. Data collection was carried out using satellite imagery of Landsat-5 TM, Landsat- 7 ETM+, and Landsat-8 OLI verified with in-situ field measurements, Sentinel-2 A MSI, and MODIS Aqua imageries. Changes in water quality due to the infrastructure of the two power plants are known through the Mann-Whitney U-Test and Spearman’s correlation analysis. This research shows that two Cirebon coal-fired power plant has a significant effect on changes in the quality of Mundu Bay waters. Changes in water quality are shown by a significant increase in TSS concentrations and SST values ​​accompanied by a decrease in chlorophyll-A levels and salinity levels. Changes in the quality of these waters also disrupt marine biota habitat and cause fishermen in around are difficult to get the ideal catchment yield.

A 2D current and water quality model was set up with Delft3D-FLOW in this research, which was well calibrated and verified with the observed tidal levels and velocities. Considered with the project of the Qingcaosha Water Source, Pollution concentration distribution caused by sewage outfalls in the south bank of the Yangtze River during a neap tide of dry season is simulated and the computed results show: a high pollution zone appears near the south shore, and moves upward with flood flow and downward with ebb flow, however, it is bounded a limit region around the outfalls. During the tidal period, the water quality of the Qingcaosha water source can be classified as the second class water, which can ensure the normal water supply as the Shanghai water source. It is suggested that the regular monitoring water quality in this high pollution zone should be put into practice to ensure the water quality of water sourecs. The Yangtze River is adjacent to the East Sea and it’s the largest river in China, with obvious seasonal variant runoff and tidal flow. The Yangtze River was bifurcated by Chongming Island to south and north branch from Xuliujing, most of the flow go down through the south branch. The south branch was divided into south and north channel by Changxing Island and Hengsha Island. The south channel was bifurcated by Jiuduansha Shoal to south and north passage, three bifurcation areas and four estuarine outlets were formed (see Fig 1.)

In Romania, territorial/spatial development is understood as the process of transforming the geography of inhabited territories, taking into consideration: territorial planning, urban planning and development, public works, habitat and housing, construction. It is governed by the regulatory framework in force, aligning its policies and strategies with the main reference documents at the European level. The construction sector is a key sector for investment and economic development, playing an important role in achieving the sustainable development objectives through the impact that the quality of construction has on the quality of life and by ensuring the necessary environment for most human activities. The building permit is the final authority act of the local public administration on the basis of which the execution of construction works is allowed in accordance with the measures provided by law regarding the placement, design, construction, operation and post-use of buildings. Starting from comparative structural analyses on the number of building permits issued by the local public administrations in the South-East Region, the objective of this research has been to obtain a dynamic image, through a quantitative assessment, of the number of building permits issued for residential buildings, highlighting the way in which they directly influence the sustainable development of urban and rural localities in the South-East Region of Romania.

A mathematical model is presented, consisting of a two-layer, finite difference hydrodynamic submodel and a compartmental water quality sub-model. The model is calibrated with field data. Then, it is applied to Southern Evoikos Gulf, an open coastal water body of particular ecological significance in the region of Attiki, in Greece. The application of the model aims at assessing the effect of three alternative treatment scenarios (i.e. biological treatment, biological treatment with N removal and biological treatment with N and P removal) performed in four sewage treatment plants (of a total capacity of 1,000,000 equivalent population) on the water quality of the Gulf. The calculations show that N is the limiting nutrient and its removal results in an improvement of the quality of the recipient, whereas the additional implementation of P removal has a rather limited impact.

In our research firstly we provide to generalized conceptual basis for the characteristics of organic beekeeping in Russia, second determine the impact of organic beekeeping on the productivity and the third quality of beekeeping products, to assess the possibility. To assess the problems associated with some of the main parameters, we conducted literature review and analysis of beekeeping products obtained in an apiary that implements the principles of organic beekeeping in the south of Western Siberia (Vengerovo village, Novosibirsk region). Article investigates theoretical and practical aspects of the orientation of apiaries to the production of organic products in the context for growing level of competition.

Large lakes have always represented a problem for regional gravity databases; the difficulty of access means gaps or coarse spacing in the sampling. Satellite, airborne, and shipborne gravity techniques are options, but the resolution and/or cost of these systems make them impractical or inaccurate for exploration or environmental studies, where the required resolution is [Formula: see text]. In this study, the feasibility of a ground gravity survey over a frozen lake where ice moves because of windy conditions is assessed. Lake Wanapitei, widely accepted as resulting from the impact of a meteorite 37 million years ago, is one of these cases in which the necessity of expanding coverage over poorly sampled regions arose from a significant gap between surface and airborne geophysical maps. Two gravity surveys were completed on the ice of Lake Wanapitei in the winters of 2003 and 2004. To study the structure, longtime series of gravity field measurements were recorded for 98 stations, allowing for improved control over the noise sources in the data. Final processing and integration with an existing regional data set in the area and the application of terrain corrections reduced the amplitude of the circular anomaly from 15 to [Formula: see text] and its diameter from 11 to [Formula: see text]. The feasibility of gravity surveys on ice was assessed, and we determined that for large-scale studies such as this one, the quality of the data, even under noisy conditions, was acceptable. However, for more detailed mapping, calm wind conditions and long time series are required.
