Regression analysis has been used to characterize the relationship between an exposure dose and the incidence of an adverse health effect such as cancer. However, the regression rarely describes the true relationship due to uncertainties in dose-response data and relationships. Therefore, a method is developed to perform dose-response assessments by a fuzzy linear regression which explicitly exhibit these uncertainties. This method is applied to define the relationship between a particular nitrate dose to humans and its corresponding cancer risk.

Wide discrepancies have been observed between controlled and uncontrolled intake studies of the relationship of blood mercury concentration to intake of mercury. The probable reason for the apparent discrepancies is that the within-subject variation of mercury intake in the uncontrolled studies was almost certainly considerably larger than the within-subject variation in blood mercury concentration; in these circumstances, the apparent slope obtained from a linear regression of blood mercury on intake will invariably be much smaller than the true slope. Studies of the exposure or intake of any substance should therefore include a consideration of the likely within-subject variation in the exposure or intake relative to that in the effect.

1 The dose—response data for the induction of mesothelioma, in rats, by the intrapleural administration of the fibrous zeolite, erionite, has been compared to the published data for the crocidolite and chrysotile forms of asbestos. Erionite is more than two orders of magnitude more carcinogenic than either of the two forms of asbestos examined. 2 The relative sensitivity of the intrapleural and intraperitoneal routes of injection were also examined. The sensitivity of the intraperitoneal over the intrapleural route of administration was considerably greater for all the forms of asbestos examined but not for erionite. 3 The relationship for different fibres, between the number of fibres required to give animals mesothelioma, at the 50% or 10% observable tumour effect level (OTEL) was examined, and a ranking of relative carcinogenicity was made. 4 This showed that the data derived from the dose responses obtained by the intrapleural administration of fibres to rats ranked the relative carcinogenicity of erionite, crocidolite and chrysotile in accord with the known clinical mesothelioma induction in man after exposure to these fibres. Examination of the carcinogenicity ranking from data derived from intraperitoneal injections of fibres was not in accord with the known clinical mesothelioma induction in man for the various asbestos types examined.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of competence on the performance of employees at PT. Bank Danamon Indonesia, Tbk Cabang Simpang Pasar Bawah. The sample in this study were all employees at PT. Bank Danamon Indonesia, Tbk Cabang Simpang Pasar Bawah totaling 34 people. While the variables studied in this research is the competence and performance. Analysis of data using simple linear regression method using validity, reliability, R2 and t test. The tests are conducted to determine the relationship between the independent variables (independent variables) and dependent variable (dependent variable). Based on research results the effect of competence on the performance of employees with correlation value R = 0,656 which indicates a close relationship between the effect of competence on the performance of employees at PT. Bank Danamon Indonesia, Tbk Cabang Simpang Pasar Bawah. While the R-square at 0,430 which can competence has contributed of 43% to the performance of employees at . Bank Danamon Indonesia, Tbk Cabang Simpang Pasar Bawah. Partially acquired competence variable positive and significant effect on the performance employees at . Bank Danamon Indonesia, Tbk Cabang Simpang Pasar Bawah with simple linear regression equation as follows: Y = 18,342 + 0,627X significantly smaller 0,000 than alpha 0,05. The conclusion of this study that partial hypothesis between variables competence on performance employees is proven and can be accepted as true

Abstract: The study area is located in Sarbisheh city in South Khorasan province, Iran. Copper estimation was performed by multivariate linear regression method to facilitate the use of previous analyses to predict this element in other areas, reduce costs and also reduce the number of samples. For this purpose, by obtaining a basic formula from estimating the amount of Cu with one of the promising points samples, the amount of copper in other parts of the exploration area was investigated. Several analyses were taken from the exploratory area after calculations to validate the regression. The regression results of new and old data were compared and estimation acceptable. These calculations were performed by SPSS software, according to the four elements Ca, Al, P, S, the results obtained and the relationship presented has acceptable validity. Keywords: Multivariate linear regression, Cu estimation, SPSS, Iran.

In this paper, we propose a statistical relationship between acceptance rate & first decision time of some indexed journals by applying fuzzy linear regression (FLR). We collect the data from two web sources: Elsevier journal finder, and Springer journal suggester. In this problem, we concentrate on the data of the acceptance rate and first decision time. To examine the relationship between these measures, we apply a statistical approach, which is based on correlation and regression analysis. We determine the relative error (RE) of the data collected. We plot the scatter diagram between the two measures. Pearson correlation coefficient (CC) value is also calculated. All this analysis reports that there is a moderate positive correlation between acceptance rate & first decision time.

Classical linear regression has been used to measure the relationship between rainfall data and altitude in different meteorological stations, in order to evaluate a linear relation. The values of rainfall are supposed as dependent variables and the values of elevation of each station as independent variables. It has long been known that a classical statistical relationship exists between annual rainfall and the station elevation which in many cases is linear as the one examined in this article. However classical linear regression makes rigid assumptions about the statistical properties of the model, accepting the error terms as random variables, and the violation of this assumption could affect the validity of the classical linear regression. Fuzzy regression assumes ambiguous and imprecise parameters and data. For this reason it may be more effective than classical regression. In this paper we evaluate the relationship between annual rainfall data and the elevation of each station in Thessaly’s meteorological stations, using fuzzy linear regression with trapezoidal membership functions. In this possibilistic model the dependent measured elevations are crisp, and the independent observed rainfall values as well as the parameters of the model are fuzzy.

The purpose of this study was to test and analyze the influence of competence with elements of knowledge, understanding, abilities/skills, values, attitudes and interests on employee performance at the Tanjung Perak Port Authority Office, Surabaya. This type of research is an associative study that explains the relationship and influence between competency variables on employee performance. The population in this study amounted to 90 people. The sampling technique used the saturated sampling method. Methods of data collection by interview, literature study, observation and questionnaires. The data were analyzed by using the Simple Linear Regression method. This study concluded that competence with indicators of knowledge, understanding, abilities/skills, values, attitudes and interests has a significant effect on improving employee performance at the Tanjung Perak Main Port Authority Office.

This study aims to determine and analyze how much influence the quality of services on the level of satisfaction felt by customers who use the financing services of PT Summit Oto Finance Surabaya Branch. The model used in this research is the method of observation, interviews, and questionnaires using a Likert scale and the method of determining the sample used is Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling of 100 samples. The analytical method used is the multiple linear regression method (Multi Linear Regression. The results of the study obtained the regression equation Y = 0.408 + 0.035X1 + 0.320X2 + 0.183X3 + 0.217X4 + 0.277X5. Where simultaneously all variables are tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance. , and empathy have a significant influence and positive direction of the relationship on customer satisfaction, while partially only tangible variables that do not affect customer satisfaction The most influencing variable on customer satisfaction is the variable reliability (2,898).
