Wrinkles attract significant attention due to their ability to enhance the mechanical and optical characteristics of various optoelectronic devices. We report the effect of the plasma gas type, power, flow rate, and treatment time on the wrinkle features. When an optical adhesive was treated using a low-pressure plasma of oxygen, argon, and nitrogen, the oxygen and argon plasma generated wrinkles with the lowest and highest wavelengths, respectively. The increase in the power of the nitrogen and oxygen plasma increased the wavelengths and heights of the wrinkles; however, the increase in the power of the argon plasma increased the wavelengths and decreased the heights of the wrinkles. Argon molecules are heavier and smaller than nitrogen and oxygen molecules that have similar weights and sizes; moreover, the argon plasma comprises positive ions while the oxygen and nitrogen plasma comprise negative ions. This resulted in differences in the wrinkle features. It was concluded that a combination of different plasma gases could achieve exclusive control over either the wavelength or the height and allow a thorough analysis of the correlation between the wrinkle features and the characteristics of the electronic devices.

The nondegradable nature and toxicity of organic liquid electrolytes reveal the design deficiency of lithium batteries in environmental protection. Biopolymers can be extracted from biomass under mild conditions, thus they are usually low cost and renewable. The unique characteristics of biopolymers such as water solubility, film-forming capability and adhesive property are of importance for lithium battery. The studies on the biopolymer materials for lithium batteries have been reviewed in this work. Although a lot of work on the biopolymer-based battery materials has been reported, it is still a challenge in the design of lithium battery with zero pollution and zero waste.

Millimeter-scale calcium alginate aqueous core capsules (mm-CaSA-Caps) are suitable for embedding of temperature and chemical sensitive substances because of its excellent biocompatibility and biodegradability. In this study, mm-CaSA-Caps were coated with multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) via in situ self-polymerization of dopamine (DA) under mild conditions. During the modification process, mm-CaSA-Caps transferred quickly from colorless and transparent capsules to dark and opaque “pearls” in 15 min. The obtained MWNTs-polydopamine- (PDA-) modified mm-CaSA-Caps (mm-MWNTs-PDA@CaSA-Caps) retained the spherical appearance of mm-CaSA-Caps with uniform coating of MWNTs-PDA. Obviously, the MWNTs were easily coated on the mm-PDA@CaSA-Caps due to the strong adhesive property of PDA. As the MWNTs content increased, the stacking density of MWNTs on surface of the mm-MWNTs-PDA@CaSA-Caps raised. The water loss ratio of mm-MWNTs-PDA@CaSA-Caps was enhanced ascribed to increasing the path length of water by raising stacking density of MWNTs. This study provided a new path for enhancement of the barrier property of hydrogel capsules.

The cyclic oxidation behavior of Co-10Cr-5Al alloys in atmosphere at 700 °C was investigated. The addition of 0.3 at.% Y changed the oxidation behavior from the approximate parabolic rate law to complex mode. The scale grown on the surface of Co-10Cr-5Al cracked seriously, while the oxide scale the Y doped alloy had better adhesive property. Yttrium doped in the sample promoted the forming of continuous Al2O3layer and decreased the oxidation rate of Co-10Cr-5Al alloys.
