Tourism has become one of the major players in ‎international commerce and represents one of the main income ‎sources for many developing countries at the same time. These dynamics have turned tourism into a key driver for socio-‎economic progress.‎ This article described the potential of tourism attraction and factor affecting the development of marine tourism area in the utilization zone of Manusela National Park. Semi-structured interviews, in-depth interviews and participant observations were conducted with respondent (n=110) in Bellarizky, Air Belanda, Ora Beach and Lizar Bahari resort. The potential of tourist attractions in the utilization zone of Manusela National Park is as a snorkeling, diving and point of view. Factors affecting the development are service, transportation, supporting facilities and tourism attractions.

<abstract><p>Policies concerning the sustainable tourism are fundamentally addressed to the environmental protection and to minimize the anthropogenic impact when exploiting beaches, archeological sites and other tourist attractions. In this paper, we propose a subjective measure, namely the Perceived factor, in order to take into account the more general dimension of the social factor in the assessment of the Tourism Carrying Capacity (TCC) measures. The analysis evaluates the employment impact of the perceived crowding by using data resulting from a survey conducted in the Asinara National Park. In this respect, a macroeconomic analysis is presented by using a SAM scheme developed at a local level, based on four municipalities representing a potential gravitational area of tourists visiting the Asinara National Park. Afterward, a SAM-based model combined with the sustainability measures is proposed to compute the employment loss due to the Perceived factor.</p></abstract>

The Addo Elephant National Park is one of only a few national parks in the world that offers the Big 7 experience and is therefore one of South Africa’s prime tourism destinations. The park plays an important role in the regional economy and has become a hub for tourism development. The aim of this article is to determine the extent to which socio-demographic and behavioural and motivational indicators influence the spending of tourists to the park. A better understanding of the latter could help marketers and planners to increase the economic impact of the park. Since 2001, surveys have been conducted among tourists to the park and have included a number of socio-demographic, behavioural and motivational questions. In this analysis, 537 questionnaires were used. The methodology used includes factor analysis, cross-sectional regression analysis and pseudo-panel data analysis to determine and compare possible influences on spending. The research identifies six motives for tourists travelling to the Addo Elephant National Park; these are nature, activities, family and socialisation, escape, attractions and photography. The research found that a combination of socio-demographic and motivational factors influences visitor spending decisions. Added to this, the research confi rms that tourist attractions, including national parks, differ from one another and that the variables that influence spending therefore also differ.

Due to shrinking budgets for conservation and an increase in the number of government and privately owned parks, it has become very important for parks to determine who the tourists are who visit one of South Africa’s top tourist attractions. The reason for this is that park management and marketers need to focus their efforts to optimise their limited resources. This can only be done once there is a clear understanding of who the market is, where they come from and what they expect. The literature study clearly showed that market segmentation is essential for the effective marketing of a tourism product or destination. Two surveys were conducted, one in 2001 and a follow-up study in 2002, profiling tourists to the Kruger National Park. Different months were chosen to conduct the two surveys in order to get a more comprehensive profile of tourists visiting the park in different seasons.

Madagascar is renowned for high levels of biodiversity and endemism. As a result of its unique flora and fauna, as well as the high levels of human threat to the environment, such as illegal clearing, hunting and political instability, it is a critical global conservation priority. Andasibe–Mantadia National Park in eastern Madagascar is one of the most popular protected areas visited by tourists. Observations carried out in 2011 showed that even though there were some negative impacts associated with natural-area tourism, the benefits to both the local communities and associated biological conservation outweighed the negatives. Natural-area tourism at Andasibe is well organised, with many local guide associations having partnerships with international organisations and 50% of park fees going directly to local communities. Forest loss is a widespread problem in Madagascar, but at Andasibe the forest is valued for its ecological function and as a generator of profits from natural-area tourism. Exploitation of the park was not observed. Andasibe is an example of how conservation and natural-area tourism can work together in Madagascar for the benefit of local communities and the environment. However, with the current unstable political climate and lack of adequate wider tourism and conservation planning frameworks, awakening to its potential as a leading conservation tourism destination will not be a simple task. Conservation implications: This research demonstrated that ecotourism can be an effective means of achieving conservation objectives, whilst, at the same time, improving the livelihoods of local people. We caution, however, that governments can do a lot more to encourage and support the nexus between tourism and conservation.

Banten is one province in Indonesia which has a variety of objects and the potential tourism. One of the tourist area is Ujung Kulon National Park. Ujung Kulon National Park is a kind of ecological tourism (ecotourism) that located in Pandeglang. This national park is very well known to foreign tourists and domestic tourists, primarily as a place of preservation of the Javan rhino (one-horned rhino and buffalo). However, tourist arrivals Ujung Kulon National Park in 2010 has decreased, therefore necessary to conduct research on aspects related to increasing the number of visits. including through programs conducted by the marketing communication manager Ujung Kulon National Park. Based on this, the researcher interested to conduct research The Influence of Marketing Communication Programs towards Visiting Decision in Ujung Kulon National Park. The problem of this study are 1). How the idea of marketing communication programs, 2). How the idea of the decision to visit, 3). How does influence marketing communication programs to the visiting decision. This study aims to obtain marketing communication description, visiting decision description and the influence of marketing communications programs to the visiting decision. The technical analysis of the data in this study is used the analysis of the path (path analysis) with a sampling technique is systematic random sampling of 100 respondents. The results of this study indicate that marketing communication programs have a significant influence on the decision to visit. Greatest effect is obtained through advertising and the smallest effect is obtained through the event and experience. This is because advertising is a means of promotion through various media such as print and electronic media that can provide more information to tourists. Suggestion for managers Ujung Kulon National Park, should further develop marketing programs through organized events and improve the quality of tourist attractions as well as provide information best time to visit the National Park Ujung Kulon.

The genus Eurhoptus LeConte, 1876 is revised for America north of Mexico. Eight species are recognized including E.pyriformis LeConte, 1876, E.sordidus (LeConte, 1876), E.curtus (Hamilton, 1893), resurrected name, and five new species as follows: E.rileyi new species (type locality, Texas, Hidalgo County, Bentsen Rio Grande State Park), E.imbricatus new species (type locality, Texas, Bandera County, Lost Maples State Natural Area), E.cariniventris new species (type locality, Texas, Bandera County, Lost Maples State Natural Area), E.occidentalis new species (type locality, Texas, Brewster County, Big Bend National Park), and E.aenigmaticus new species (type locality, Alabama, Winston County, Bankhead National Forest). Descriptions or redescriptions, and images of taxonomically important structures are presented for all species. A key to the eight species is included.

The conflict between humans and elephants can cause disadvantages for both humans and elephants in the form of property and loss of life. The objective of this study was to determine community perceptions of the conflict between humans and elephants. Data were collected through interviews with thirty respondents by using a questionnaire as guidance. The respondents were randomly selected from Tegal Yoso Village, Purbolinggo District, East Lampung Regency, which is one of the buffer villages of the Way Kambas National Park (TNWK). The results showed that 100% of the community declared elephants as plant destroyers, and 97% of plant consumers. The results also revealed that 100% of the community has a positive perception by considering elephants as an endangered species and has the potential to become tourist attractions, while 97% or the community considered elephant as a charismatic animal, beautiful, having a strong memory, and sensitive. The community showed awareness of the conservation of Sumatran elephants. It was shown from their attitude in dealing with the elephants that enter the agricultural area by reporting to the authorized officer. The Elephant Response Unit (ERU) in Tegal Yoso and the community need to increase safeguards to reduce conflicts between elephants and humans in the buffer zone of TNWK.Keywords: elephant, community, conflict, mitigation, perception

In the last decade, tourism activity associated with natural areas has stood out as a driver for economic development. Thus, it is a key factor for the economic and social sustainability of the community near a protected area. This paper analyses, considering the tourist exploitation and the public use of the National Park in the last decade, the perception about the sustainability of its geographical area closest. A questionnaire was used and sent to the authorities of the villages closest to each of the 15 National Parks. The structural equation model was used for the design and analysis of the model. The results confirmed significant relationships between the perception of economic development and quality of life, but not with social development. A positive relationship between quality of life and social development is also demonstrated. The three dimensions analysed, economic, social and quality of life, are influencing the perception of sustainability of the geographical area closest to the protected natural area. The legal limitations to the public use of these natural protected areas have been considered in the assessments made by the respondents. In conclusion, National Park managers, local entrepreneurs and institutional authorities (local, regional and national) are encouraged to better coordinate the resources of the protected natural area. The dynamization of tourist activities should be encouraged while respecting the biological value of the park, as has been done so far.
