Background: The differences in geographic, sosioeconomic and lifestyle between children in rural and urban areas infl uence their nutritional status. The urban children tended to be less active. The evidence suggested that physical activity improves cardiorespiratory fi tness and mental health in young people but study that compare those indicators among rural and urban children was scarce.Objective: To compare the nutritional status, physical fi tness, and quality of life between elementary school children in rural and urban areas.Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted at Semarang (urban) and Mlonggo (rural) Central Java in 2009. Inclusion criteria was school children aged 9-11 years and had no physical disability. Body composition was measured by Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis, physical activity by Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ), physical fi tness by 20-m shuttle run test and quality of life by Pediatrics Quality of Life Questionnaire (PedQoL 4.0). The differences between nutritional status and physical activity were assessed by Chi Square test, while the differences between physical fi tness and quality of life were tested by independent t test (p<0.05).Result: One hundred sixty-two subjects were enrolled in the study (Semarang 82 students; 36 boys, 46 girls and Mlonggo 80 students; 40 boys, 40 girls). Body mass index (18.97 vs 15.16 kg/m2) and body fat (26.03% vs 18.03%) of urban children were higher than that of the rural’s (p<0.001). Children in rural area were signifi cantly more active, have higher physical fi tness level (VO2 max 28.54±1.79 ml/kg/min vs 21.57+1.79 ml/kg/min) (p<0.01), and have higher score in quality of life (2243 + 295,8) compared to the children from urban area (2133 + 369.4) (p<0.05). Conclusion: Rural school children have lower nutritional status than urban children, but they are more active and have higher physical fi tness level. They also have better quality of life.

This study assesses the status of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) among coronavirus survivors living in rural and urban districts in Riau province, Indonesia. The cross-sectional study was conducted among 468 and 285 Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) survivors living in rural and urban areas, respectively in August 2021. The St. George Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) was used to measure the HRQOL of COVID-19 survivors. A higher total score domain corresponds to worse quality of life status. Quantile regression with the respect to 50th percentile found a significant association for the factors living in rural areas, being female, having comorbidities, and being hospitalized during treatment, with total score of 4.77, 2.43, 7.22, and 21.27 higher than in their contra parts, respectively. Moreover, having received full vaccination had the score 3.96 in total score. The HRQOL of COVID-19 survivors living in rural areas was significantly lower than in urban areas. Factors such as living in rural areas, female sex, having comorbidities, and history of symptomatic COVID-19 infection were identified as significant predictors for lower quality of life. Meanwhile, having full vaccination is a significant predictor for a better quality of life. The results of this study can provide the targeted recommendations for improvement of HRQOL of COVID-19 survivors.

Objective : To investigate if the relationship between physical activity level (PAL) and quality of life (QOL) is affected by living environment (rural or urban). Method : A quantitative, observational and cross-sectional study was performed. Of the 40 participants of both genders, 20 were residents of urban areas and 20 were residents of rural areas in the town of Pimenta Bueno (RO), Brazil. The WHOQOL BREF and IPAQ Long Version questionnaires were used to assess QOL and PAL, respectively. Mann Whitney and Fisher's Exact were used to statistically compare groups for QOL and PAL scores. The correlation between the two was tested by the Spearman test. A significance level of p<0.05 was used. Results : No differences between the rural and urban areas for QOL or PAL were found. In the rural group a positive and significant correlation was found between PAL and the physical, psychological and complete QOL domains. In terms of PAL, elderly persons from the rural area who were regularly active had higher total QOL and physical domain scores than insufficiently active elderly individuals from the rural area. When place of residence was compared, insufficiently active elderly in the urban area had higher scores on the social component of QOL than insufficiently active elderly from the rural group. Among regularly active seniors, those living in the rural area had higher physical QOL scores. Conclusion : According to the results, level of physical activity exerts a differential influence on the QOL of elderly people from rural and urban areas.

ASSESSING THE RELATIONSHIP OF NUTRITIONAL STATUS TO THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF CANCER PATIENTS RECEIVING CHEMOTHERAPY AT THE ONCOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF HUE COLLEGE OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY Background: Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally as well as in Vietnam. Chemotherapy is a systemic treatment with chemical drugs. Chemotherapy often causes many problems related to physical, mental and toxicity, which have an effect on the quality of life and nutritional status of patients. While malnutrition has been shown to be common in cancer patients, its impacts on the patient's quality of life have not been adequately studied, especially in Vietnam. Objective: To evaluate the quality of life of cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. To determine the relationship of nutritional status to the quality of life in these patients. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 82 patients with cancer during a chemotherapytreatment at the Department of Oncology, Hue College of Medicine and Pharmacy from February 2018 to February 2019. Assessing the quality of life by the Quality of Life Questionnaire of the European Organizationfor Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC QLQ-C30). Descriptive statistics and test Chi-square and Fisher exact were performed to analyze the quality of life parameters and the relationship between nutritional status and quality of life. Results: A total of 82 subjects were included in this study, 51 subjects (62.20%) were males and 31 subjects (37.80%) were females, the mean age was 58.98 ± 12.52. The most common type of cancer is gastrointestinal cancer (37.80%), the highest stage of cancer is stage 4 (56.10%), symptomatic chemotherapy accounts for the highest rate with 53.70% and the average number of chemotherapy cycles is 4.00 ± 3.68. The study shows that the meanglobal health status is 50.00 ± 16.89, the best quality of life score is in the field of cognitive function with 83.33 points, the worst quality of life score is in the symptoms field of insomnia and in the financial difficulties with 66.67 points. Results from Chi-square and Fisher Exact analysis test revealed a statistically significant association between the risk of malnutrition according to SGA classification and the role functioning offunctional scales (p <0.05). Conclusions: The quality of life of cancer patients is generally good. The nutritional status affects the quality of life in the field of role function. Abstract Background Although physical activity (PA) and sedentary time in cancer survivors (CSs) were associated with health-related quality of life (HRQOL), it was not clear whether their associations were similar among CSs with different number of comorbid chronic diseases (CCDs). This study aimed to investigate the associations between PA, sedentary time and HRQOL in CSs with different number of CCDs. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted among 1546 CSs between June and September 2018 in Shanghai, China. Data were collected with a self-reported questionnaire including sociodemographic characteristics, CCDs, PA, sedentary time and HRQOL. International Physical Activity Questionnaire and Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core30 were respectively used to measure PA and HRQOL of CSs. Associations of PA and sedentary time with HRQOL among CSs with different number of CCDs were evaluated by using logistic regression, adjusted for confounding factors. Results About seventy-five percent CSs had at least one CCD. Approximately three fifths CSs had high PA level and < 4 h/day sedentary time. Moderate PA level and high PA level were shown to be associated with better HRQOL among all participants. In CSs with ≤ 2 CCDs, high PA level was significantly associated with higher scores of physical function and lower scores of nausea and vomiting, appetite loss. However, there was a positive association between high PA level and constipation score among CSs with ≥ 3 CCDs. CSs with shorter sedentary time had better HRQOL in those with CCDs. Conclusions High PA level and long sedentary time have significant association with worse HRQOL of CSs with ≥ 3 CCDs, while high PA level is positively associated with HRQOL in CSs with ≤ 2 CCDs. Our findings may support further studies of the causal association between PA, sedentary times and HRQOL to provide targeted proposal to improve the HRQOL of CSs according to their number of CCDs.

Objective This systematic review aimed to investigate the relationship between physical activity and quality of life (QOL) in people with visual impairments. Methods: Electronic searches were performed in PubMed, SPORTdiscus, CINAHL, Embase, and Web of Science. Observational studies describing the relationship between physical activity and QOL in adults with visual impairments were included. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) adapted for cross-sectional studies was used to assess the quality of the studies. Results: Overall, 327 studies were identified, and eight met the inclusion criteria. All studies had cross-sectional designs and seven were performed in developed countries. Physical activity was assessed objectively by one study, and five studies used the International Physical Activity Questionnaire. The World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire was the most used instrument to measure QOL. Six studies reported a positive relationship between physical activity and QOL domains, as follows: life satisfaction, activity limitation, fair or poor health, physically and mentally unhealthy days, psychological health, and overall QOL. Conclusion: People with visual impairments who are engaged in physical activity are more likely to have better QOL outcomes.

Abstrak Latar belakang: Usia Harapan Hidup (UHH) penduduk dunia, tidak terkecuali di Indonesia, meningkat signifikan selama 10 tahun terakhir. Hal ini mengakibatkan peningkatan pesat jumlah lansia, jika hal ini tidak diimbangi dengan kualitas hidup yang baik tentunya akan berdampak pada gangguan kesehatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara status gizi (IMT) dan aktivitas fisik dengan kualitas hidup lansia di RW 02 Desa Jatibening, Bekasi. Metode: Penelitian ini adalah observasional analitik dengan desain cross sectional. Responden dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling dengan jumlah sampel 63 lansia (>60 tahun). Pengambilan data dilakukan pada bulan Desember 2020 – Januari 2021. Data status gizi diperoleh melalui pengukuran langsung menggunakan timbangan digital dan pengukur tinggi badan mikrotoise. Data aktivitas fisik dan kualitas hidup diperoleh melalui pengisian kuesioner dengan wawancara menggunakan Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly (PASE) dan World Health Organization Quality of Life Old (WHOQOL-OLD). Pengolahan data menggunakan uji korelasi rank spearman. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan antara status gizi dengan kualitas hidup (r = 0,471; p = 0,000) dan ada hubungan antara aktivitas fisik dengan kualitas hidup (r = 0,673; p = 0,000) di RW 02 Desa Jatibening , Bekasi. This research was aims to analyze the relationship between nutritional status (BMI) and physical activity with the quality of life of the elderly in RW 02 Jatibening Village, Bekasi.. Methods: This research method is analytic observational with a cross-sectional design. The respondent was selected by using simple random sampling technique with a total sample of 63 elderly (> 60 years). Data collection was carried out in December 2020 - January 2021. Nutritional status data obtained through direct measurement using a digital scale and a microtoise height meter. Physical activity and quality of life data were obtained through filling out a questionnaire with interviews using the Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly (PASE) and the World Health Organization Quality of Life Old (WHOQOL-OLD). Data processing using the Spearman rank correlation test. Result: The results showed that there was a relationship between nutritional status and quality of life (r = 0.471; p = 0.000) and there was a relationship between physical activity and quality of life (r = 0.673; p = 0.000) in RW 02 Jatibening Village, Bekasi. Quality of menopaused women’s life is influenced by several factors such as age, education level, occupation, and physical activity. Quality of life has concepts such as physical well-being, functional ability, and emotional or social well-being which ultimately lead to changes in individuals. Objective: to analyze factors related to the quality of postmenopausal women’s life. Methods: This observational analytic study used a cross sectional design. The population was all postmenopausal women who filled out online questionnaires using google forms distributed through social media with a sampling technique of convenience sampling with a total of 56 respondents. The instruments used in this study were the MENQoL (Menopause Specific Quality of Life) questionnaire and the husband's support questionnaire. Data were analyzed by using Chi Square Test. Results: This study showed that there was a relationship of physical activity which had a significant value of (p= 0.001) and the distance to health facilities (p= 0.043) to the quality of life of postmenopausal women. Conclusion: Physical activity and distance to health facilities affect the quality of life of postmenopausal women.

Abstract Background: In COPD, aside from obesity, decreased physical activity significantly increases the probability of developing metabolic syndrome, which can have a great impact on the natural course of COPD. Objective: The purpose of our study was to evaluate the prevalence of metabolic syndrome and whether it is related to age, sex, comorbidities, drug intake, degree of impairment of lung function, nutritional status, physical activity and quality of life. Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed on patients in Budapest at the Department of Pulmonary Rehabilitation of the National Koranyi Institute of Pulmonology between March 1, 2019 and March 1, 2020. The anthropometric and respiratory function tests and laboratory parameters of a random sample of 401 patients were known. Metabolic syndrome was determined according to IDF criteria and by definition CRP levels above 5.0 mg/L were considered elevated. Results: Metabolic syndrome occurred in 59.1% of COPD patients, male: 49.7% female: 67.6% (p <0.001). Patients with metabolic syndrome had worse FEV1%pred (43 (30-56) vs. 47 (36-61); p=0.028), lower 6MWD (250 (150-330) vs. 277 (162-360); p=0.235), lower quality of life, and significantly higher number of exacerbations (3 (1-6) vs.1 (0-3); p <0.001), than patients without metabolic syndrome. C-Reactive protein level was elevated in 55.1% of patients, higher in patients with metabolic syndrome, but the difference was not significant (7.0 (2-18) vs. 5.1 (1-17); p = 0.064). Conclusions: MetS can affect respiratory function, physical activity, quality of life and the number of exacerbations and is related to nutritional status and the level of systemic inflammation.

Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) impairs exercise tolerance and daily physical activity (PA). Aside from the hemodynamic limitations, physical, cognitive and emotional factors may play a relevant and as yet unexplored role. We investigated whether there is an association between the PA level and psychological disorders, health-related quality of life, and daily activities. We also searched for an association of the PA level with clinical factors and functional capacity. This was an analytical, cross-sectional, observational study conducted in a Brazilian University Hospital. Twenty stable PAH subjects wore an accelerometer for a week and completed an activity diary. They answered the quality of life questionnaire (SF-36), as well as the anxiety and depression scale (HADS), and the Manchester Respiratory Activities of Daily Living questionnaire (MRADL). Transthoracic echocardiography, the 6-Minute walk test (6MWT), the 1-minute sit-to-stand test (STST), and spirometry were performed. For statistical analysis we used Chi-square tests or Fisher's test as appropriate and the Mann-Whitney test to compare numerical values between two groups. The relationship between the parameters was assessed using the Spearman correlation test. The mean age was 44.3 years, 80% were women, 80% had idiopathic PAH, and 20% had connective tissue disease . The mean daily step count was 4,280 ± 2,351, and the mean activity time was 41.6 ± 19.3 minutes. The distance covered (6MWT) was 451.5 m, and the number of movements (1-STST) was 23.8. Thirty percent scored positive for anxiety, and 15% for depression (HADS). There was a significant correlation between accelerometer data and walking distance (6MWT), number of movements (1-STST), level of daily physical activity (MRADL), and depression symptoms. Our findings support the hypothesis that other aspects beyond physical and hemodynamic ones might impact the daily physical activity of patients with PAH.
