The green product is a consumption model that combines environmental protection, preferential prices and social welfare. It not only allows customers to buy goods at reasonable prices, but also helps underprivileged groups and creates profits for the industry. It is beneficial to all aspects. Green products also equips with Knowledge-Based Trust (KBT), Institution-Based Trust (IBT), and Calculative-Based Trust (CBT); therefore, customers can utilize and purchase products with reliable, and build up a great brand image to gain a competitive advantage, thereby gaining consumers’ willingness to repurchase products, increasing word-of-mouth and enhancing consumers’ impression of the industry. The 435 participants of this study are consumers who have purchased green products to explore the impacts of Product Green Value (GPV) from consumers’ points of view, examine how shaping of customer relationships demonstrates the green value, and analyzes the Green Product Value (GPV), trust (TRT), product satisfaction (PDS), word-of mouth (WOM) and repurchase willingness (RPW) via structural equation models (SEM). The results revealed that the more the awareness of product green value (GPV) for consumers, the more product satisfaction (PDS) and repurchase willingness (RPW) of green products as well as discuss and even recommend with others.

Purpose It has now become a normal part of the consumption journey for consumers to share their positive and negative service encounters with firms on microblogs such as Twitter. There is, however, a limited amount of research on service encounter microblog word of mouth (SEMWOM) and its impact on firm reputation from a receiver’s perspective. This study aims to understand the comparative effects of positive and negative valence SEMWOM on receivers’ perceptions of firms’ reputations and the factors that are particularly salient to receivers’ perceptions of firm reputation upon exposure to SEMWOM. Design/methodology/approach An experiment exposed 372 Twitter users to positive and negative valence SEMWOM. To determine whether changes in perception of firm reputation occurred on exposure to both positive and negative valence SEMWOM, participants’ perceptions of a range of US airlines were measured before and after exposure to the SEMWOM. To confirm the factors that influence the perception of reputation on such exposure, six structural equation models were created to determine the comparative effects of positive and negative valence SEMWOM among three electronic WOM media as follows: video, photo and text. Findings Both positive and negative valence SEMWOM affect receivers’ perceptions of airlines’ reputations on exposure. Furthermore, the factors that influence perceptions of reputation on exposure to SEMWOM vary depending on valence and type of media contained in a tweet. Originality/value Although consumers now routinely share their positive and negative service encounters with brands on microblogs, scant research has examined receivers of positive and negative valence SEMWOM, important actors in the microblog domain. This study addresses this research gap by empirically investigating the impact of both positive and negative valence SEMWOM on receivers’ perceptions of firm reputation upon exposure to it.

AbstractAs the environment continues to aggravate, it has become a purposeful public concern in developed countries and has recently stirred developing countries to join the green movement. Hence, this study examines green environmental awareness, green product value and environmental attitude by applying the measurement of effects on green culture. The study applied a quantitative research approach where a cross-sectional survey designed with 267 respondents’ green consumer who lived in the urban area of Abuja and employed partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS3 to examine the developed path model. The results indicated that all constructs were empirically supported showing significant impact on green culture while examining direct relationships. The resulting (Q2) value is larger than zero (0) in the path model, this specifies that exogenous constructs have a good index for predictive relevance on the endogenous construct being investigated. Among the construct, awareness is the most important predictor and green product value tends to show a modest impact on environmental attitude. The study suggests that policymakers should place emphasis on environmental values to boost environmental awareness among young consumers in the process of making purchases. Specifically, environmental attitude was found to have full mediation on the relationship between green product value and green culture. However, no mediation occurs in the relationship between environmental awareness and green culture. The study concluded that awareness regarding going green activism in Nigeria among young consumers is still a matter of concern despite its impact and therefore, practitioners and collaborators in the green industry need to apply aggressive efforts to achieve this pathway, to ensure the design and implementation of effective policies that will promote going green and enhance the green circular economy.

AbstractThe indiscriminate consumption patterns worldwide have brought in its wake severe problems like pollution and global warming, and this has ultimately called for green products awareness and consumption. The main purpose of this study was to assess the effect of university students’ awareness of green products on their green purchasing intentions. The specific objectives were to identify whether awareness, price, availability, value and quality influence university students’ intention to purchase green products, and to investigate how awareness, price, availability, value and quality predict university students’ intention to purchase green products. A structural equation modeling was used to analyze data collected from an online survey of 478 students. Results show that green perceived quality has the utmost significant positive impact on university students’ green purchase intentions; however, green perceived availability had the slightest impact on university students’ intention to purchase green products. The study is the foremost to conclude that green product awareness impact on university students green purchase intentions is greatly driven by price, high value and extraordinary quality. However, availability is not a critical influencing factor when it comes to green purchase intentions of university students. The implications of study, limitations and further research are discussed.

This study explores the relationships between environmental attitude, green product knowledge, attitude towards purchasing green products, green product purchasing intention, and green purchasing behaviour. Using a cross-sectional survey approach, a random sample of 284 undergraduate students in a Zimbabwean polytechnic completed a self-administered questionnaire. Structural equation modelling (maximum likelihood estimation) was used to analyse the data. The findings indicate that there are positive associations between the following pairs of variables: environmental attitude and attitude towards green purchasing; green product knowledge and green purchasing intention; green product knowledge and green purchasing behaviour; attitude towards green purchasing and green purchasing intention; green purchasing intention and green purchasing behaviour; as well as a non-significant relationship between green product knowledge and attitude towards green. The findings reported that the Theory of Reasoned Action fully supported the students’ intention to buy green products, which then affects their green purchase behaviour. The inclusion of additional constructs to the proposed model was partially supported. The study results highlight the importance of considering product knowledge and other attitudinal factors—specifically environmental attitude and attitude towards green purchasing—when marketing environmentally-friendly products to college-level students.

Objective - This study aims to investigate the importance of brand trust affecting green product repeat purchases using a statistics program with structural equation modelling (SEM) to conduct confirmation factor analysis and correlation analysis between the independent and dependent variables. Methodology/Technique – This study collected data from 820 green-product consumers in the northeast region of Thailand. Samples were recruited from 20 local department stores across 20 provinces. The study used a stratified sampling technique to stratify each province’s residents. Findings - SEM analysis shows that brand trust has a positive correlation to brand engagement and loyalty with a statistical significance value of 0.05, together with a beta coefficient value of 0.68 and 0.54. The study also found that brand engagement has positive correlation to loyalty with a statistical significance value of 0.05, together with a beta coefficient value of 0.75. These results mean that when the customer trusted the brand, it would lead to brand engagement and being big a fan of the brand. This is because the customer is unfamiliar with green products, and there are some critical factors such as price and quality. Thus, building brand trust would decrease customer apprehension. When customers feel safe, they will feel engage to the brand. Accordingly, when customers are engaged to the brand, they become loyal to the brand leading to repeat purchasers, word of mouth, and brand advocacy. Novelty – This paper contributes to the understanding on green product consumption and customer behaviour and can be used to formulate the right strategies for promoting green products, based on critical factors that influence the customer buying process. The purpose of this paper is to explore the consumers’ decision to purchase green products in Malaysia. Self-administered questionnaires were conducted to obtain meaningful data from 230 consumers at major shopping malls in Melaka, Malaysia from September 2015 until February 2016. Based on the analysis of SEM-PLS, the proposed model explained 92 percent of the variance of green product purchase decision. The results have shown positive significant effects between green awareness, green commitment, green companies and green product purchase decision. However, green experience and green circle produced insignificant results. Generally, the results from this study confirmed that the proposed model concisely explained the consumers’ decision to purchase green products in Malaysia. This study adds another literature to the area of green marketing. The model combined the past consumer behavioural theories and models to identify the key factors that stimulate the consumers’ purchase behaviour. Findings from this study have strong implications to both individual and marketing managers. It brings into light the perception of Malaysian consumers about green products and readiness to accept green products as their future way of life.

The increasing customer awareness of environmental sustainability during the last decade has had an influence on many manufacturers to produce green products. However, issues arise regarding the actual preferences of customers for green products, which often differ depending on cultural influences. Cultural values can affect the decisions of designers to determine detailed design specifications that relate to customer preferences. Currently, few guidelines consider cultural values as an aspect of green product design. Thus, the aim of this study is to develop a guideline that incorporates the influence of cultural values on green product design. Malaysia was selected as the location of this study. The sources of data to establish a guideline were obtained from customer perspectives on green products. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to identify cultural influences and preferences on green product characteristics as the input strategies for the proposed guideline. Professional designers from different profiles were asked to identify the applicability of the guideline. Based on the results, the designers agreed that the influence of cultural values is an important aspect that should be considered in the development of green products. The implication of the guideline is discussed in this paper to accelerate decisions of designers in developing green products.

Marketing managers keenly seek to understand the green market. However, insufficient information on how to foster consumers' green behavior is slowing the growth of green markets and becoming a barrier for firms when communicating strategies for effectively promoting green products. Therefore, this chapter attempts to examine the impact of environmental knowledge and cultural values on consumers' green purchase intentions. A survey was administered and a total of 200 valid questionnaires were obtained. Structural equation modeling (SEM) technique was used to assess the model. The finding shows that cultural values significantly related to green product purchase intention. The results also indicate environmental knowledge is not a significant factor influencing buying intention of green products. The discussions and implications of these findings are further elaborated.

Nowadays, increasing awareness is directed toward the fulfilment of sustainability demands in production in rapidly developing Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia. However, producing green products that satisfy customer preferences is still a challenging task for product designers and manufacturers. Cultural values can be a significant factor that influences customer preferences. The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of cultural values on green-product preferences. Data were statistically analyzed based on the fulfilment of critical threshold values for the modeling of a structural equation. According to the results, customer preferences in Indonesia were mostly influenced by uncertainty avoidance and long-term orientation. Further, additional product services were identified as the most important characteristic of green products for Indonesian customers.
