Objectives: To study the phytochemical analysis and antimicrobial compounds from fruits of Thespesia populnea.Methods: The determination of antimicrobial activity of fruit extract was done by agar well diffusion method. Active compounds were extracted bydifferent solvent extraction methods. The presence of active compounds was confirmed by ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry, Fourier transforminfrared spectroscopy and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis (GC-MS).Results: The active extract was identified by the GC-MS analysis and it was revealed that the presence of oleic acid, pentadecanoic acid, andN-hexadecanoic acid.Conclusion: This method adopted and extracted purified active metabolites and can be fruitfully employed for obtaining novel antibiotic compounds to treat human pathogenic bacterial and fungal diseases.Keywords: Thespesia populnea (L.), Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Antimicrobial, Phytochemical.

  Objective: Continued resistance toward the antibiotics urges us to explore newer antibiotics. Plants are being the safer source of antibiotics with lesser or no side effects. This study was designed to study the presence of phytochemical constituents and antibacterial activity of leaf and flower extracts of Wedelia glauca against urinary tract infection causing pathogens.Methods: The plant leaves were extracted with five different solvents based on the polarity. The extraction was done using soxhalation. Antimicrobial activity was determined by agar well diffusion method for both the sample and standard. The acetone plant extract was subjected to gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis for screening phytoconstituents.Results: Preliminary phytochemical screening revealed the presence of diverse phytoconstituents in the plant. The different extracts exhibited a considerable antimicrobial potential. Among the solvents used acetone extract showed comparably better antimicrobial activity with 100% of inhibition rate with the maximum zone of inhibition of 1.6±0.77 mm against Staphylococcus sp. and Aspergillus sp. at the concentration of 5 mg. GC-MS analysis provided 8 major peaks which revealed the existence of a variety of bioactive compounds which may attribute to the efficacy of the plant.Conclusion: W. glauca leaf and flower extracts displayed a broad spectrum of antibacterial and antifungal activity and can be considered as a potential source of newer antibiotic compounds.

Objective: Andrographis lawsonii Gamble is a medicinal herb species, Endemic to India: Karnataka (Dakshina kannada or south Canara district), Kerala (Palakkad district), and Tamil Nadu (Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts). The Andrographis is a large genus of the family Acanthaceae. This study focused to check the preliminary phytochemical nutritive analysis, leaf stem and root and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis leaf methanol extract. Methods: The plant samples were subjected to Soxhlet extraction for phytochemical analysis and further experimental studies. The test on phytochemical studies indicated the presence of alkaloids, saponins, glycosides, and flavonoids glycosides within the plant parts, respectively. The estimation of carbohydrate protein starch methanol leaves extracts to have high activity compared to others. Results: Preliminary phytochemical and Nutritional analysis in A. lawonii. Nutritional analysis in carbohydrate protein and starch content was found to be high in leaf methanol extract. Highly medicinal compound analysis in this GC-MS Analysis 50 compound present in methanol leaf extract. Conclusion: The leaf methanol extract of A. lawsonii has exhibited remarkable preliminary phytochemical analysis and nutritional analysis GC-MS analysis to the medicinal plant.

Psoralea corylifolia is the most important medicinal plant which has various secondary metabolites and its leaves are broadly used in many sectors due to its antimicrobial activity. This study aimed to find the bio-active compounds of chloroform extract of P. corylifolia leaves using Perkin-Elmer Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). The results of GC-MS compounds in the chloroform extract was appropriate to the database of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). GC-MS analysis of chloroform extract of P. corylifolia leaves reveal the presence of bioactive compounds as Hexadecanoic acid, 3-hydroxy-, methyl ester , Hydroxylamine, O-decyl- , 2,4-Di-tert-butylphenol ) Cubenol , Neophytadiene , Phytol , Linoleic acid ethyl esterand 9,12,15-Octadecatrienoic acid, ethyl ester, (Z,Z,Z)- ) . These bio-active compounds are mainly responsible for various biological activities. Hence, this study will make a good way for the production of various products for curing various disease-causing pathogens by using P. corylifolia leaves.

ABSTRACTObjective: To explore the phytochemical constituents present in Sarcostemma brevistigma using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).Methods: Preliminary phytochemical analysis of secondary metabolites was made by following standard procedures. GC-MS analysis of the plantextracts was performed by using GC-MS equipped with a DB-35MS capillary standard non-polar column and gas chromatograph interfaced to a MassSelective Detector (MS-DSQ-II) with Xcalibur software.Results: The qualitative phytochemical analysis of this species exhibited the presence of alkaloids, glycosides, flavonoids, phenols, steroids, aminoacids, tannins, terpenoids, quinones, and coumarin. The GC-MS analysis revealed the presence of 24 compounds in the ethanolic extract of aerial partof Sarcostemma brevistigma. The most prevailing compound was 14,17 bis(dimethylaminoamino)[3.3]paracyclophan-5,8-diacetonitrile (14.86%).Conclusion: The study concludes that the species Sarcostemma brevistigma is a potential source for bioactive compounds such as esters, alkanes,alcohols, alkenes, amide, amine, phenol, ketone, and so forth. The botanic genera Pistacia are groups around een species of shrubs that belong to the Anacardiaceae family which is believed to have originated in Asian or Mediterranean region. P. len scus is abundant species of the Pistacia genus encountered in the forest region of Ouarsenis mount (Northwest of Algeria), exactly in the na onal park of Thniet El Had in the Wilaya of Tissemsilt in Algeria. In the present study, chemical composi on and an bac- terial ac vi es of essential oil (EO) of P. lentiscus were evaluated. The EO was isolated and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC- MS). The minimum inhibitory concentra on (MIC) was determined using 6 strains of Gram-positive and negative bacteria. The antibiogram was made following the gliosis-environment diffusion method and which makes it possible to determinate bacteria’s sensibility to an bio cs. From a exponential culture (18 to 24 hours), a bacterial suspension was prepared and well- homogenized a erwards. The opacity was adjusted equivalent to 0.5 McF (McFarland). Based on the GC-MS analysis, thirty five compounds representing 100 % of the total oil composi on were iden ed. The essen al oils could be explored to test their an microbial activity, especially against some bacteria that cause alimentary intoxications. The results revealed that the essen al oil exhibited strong levels of an bacterial activity against the tested microorganism regarding the MIC values, Salmonella sp was found to be the most sensitive strain (inhibition zone 23cm MIC 1.25%). Based on the  findings of the present study, new an bacterial agents could be developed, and the use of P. lentiscus should be promoted in the traditional treatment of ailments.

Exhaled breath is a potential noninvasive matrix to give new information about metabolic effects of diets. In this pilot study, non-targeted analysis of exhaled breath volatile organic compounds (VOCs) was made by comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GCxGC-MS) to explore compounds relating to whole grain (WG) diets. Nine healthy subjects participated in the dietary intervention with parallel crossover design, consisting of two high-fiber diets containing whole grain rye bread (WGR) or whole grain wheat bread (WGW) and 1-week control diets with refined wheat bread (WW) before both diet periods. Large interindividual differences were detected in the VOC composition. About 260 VOCs were detected from exhaled breath samples, in which 40 of the compounds were present in more than half of the samples. Various derivatives of benzoic acid and phenolic compounds, as well as some furanones existed in exhaled breath samples only after the WG diets, making them interesting compounds to study further.
