The aim of study was to analyze aerobic capacity and anaerobic power levels of the university students. Total forty university students who is department physical education and department business (age means; 21.15±1.46 years for male and age means; 20.55±1.79 years for female in department physical education), volunteered to participate in this study. Anaerobic power was measured with Running Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST). Oxygen consumption was estimated 20-m shuttle run test. We found that was aerobic and minimum anaerobic capacity of physical education students higher than aerobic and minimum anaerobic capacity of business students (P<0.05). On the other hand, we didn’t found differences between physical education female and male students and business female and male students in maximal anaerobic capacity and average anaerobic capacity (P>0.05). We found that was aerobic and minimum anaerobic capacity of female and male students in department physical education higher than aerobic and minimum anaerobic capacity of female and male students in department of business (P<0.05). In addition, fatigue index of female students in department physical education lower than fatigue index of female students in department of business was found (P<0.05). In conclusion, recreational sportive activities affect development of aerobic capacity, depending on this, aerobic capacities of the students having education at the physical education and sport teaching department are more advanced than the students of the business management department due to applied courses included in the curriculum, in addition to recreational activities, genetic factors are determinants of anaerobic capacities.

The study intended to look back the experiences of the last batch of the university graduates taking Music, Arts and Physical Education as the area of specialization in Education in one of the Higher Education Institutions in Cebu, Philippines. Specifically, the study elaborated on the graduates’ personal and professional characteristics, retrospective evaluation, perceived levels of self-efficacy and lived experiences of the graduates on how the program aided them in their teaching profession. Concurrent mixed method was utilized in the study: (1) descriptive retrospective survey using a questionnaire (quantitative) and (2) narrative inquiry design (qualitative) using semi-structured interview with the nine graduates as the key informants of the study. All nine graduates are employed, with seven of them teaching in their field. Graduates’ retrospective evaluation of their university experience revealed that their practicum experience was the most relevant which provided them the edge and opportunity to taste the reality of teaching. The strength of the program is identified in dance and sports while the teaching of health, music and arts-related courses were regarded weak. Graduates perceived level of self – efficacy was high as indicated by their ability to develop initiatives towards professional growth, and to work with people of different backgrounds. Further, three (3) emerging themes revealed as the self-instilled work values of the graduates such as persistence, love of work and open-mindedness that assisted them to be able to sustain and survive in their teaching career. This study concluded that Music, Arts and Physical Education (MAPE) is still relevant even with the existence of the new mandated Physical Education curricular program to the development of the knowledge, skills, attitudes and competencies of the MAPE graduates vis-à-vis to the demand and need of the labor market and of what is expected from them in this changing time.

Article visualizations:

The aim of this research is to determine the changes in aerobic endurance of students achieved after taking part in Special Physical Education 1, general part - SPE 1 program activities realization. The initial and final measurements of aerobic endurance (Cooper’s test of running for 12 minutes) in 119 of students (39 female and 80 male students, aged 19 to 21) of the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies in Belgrade-CPU students were carried out during the freshmen year of undergraduate studies at the beginning and the end of the summer semester, i.e., at the entrance exam and after SPE 1 realization. The Student’s t-test for dependent samples was used to determine the significance of the differences between the variables monitored at the initial and the final measurement. The results for the sample of female students (N=39) showed that after teaching SPE 1, a statistically significant change (p<0.018) in the aerobic endurance occurred (M=2288.2±218.27m, Mean±SD; t=-2.473 at the final measurement vs M=2226.8±277.07m, Mean±SD at the initial measurement). The results obtained for the sample of male students (N=80) showed also that after realized teaching SPE 1, a statistically significant change (p<0.021) in the above mentioned variable occurred, also (M=2847.7±185.77m, Mean±SD; t=-2.512 at the final measurement vs M=2747.8 ±237.03m, Mean±SD at the initial measurement). It can be concluded that after the SPE 1 course taught during the freshmen year of undergraduate studies aerobic endurance significantly improved in students of both genders.

LANGUAGE NOTE | Document text in English; abstract also in Chinese. In the present study the somatotype characteristics of Physical Education students at the University of Botswana were evaluated. A second purpose of the study was to compare the physical characteristics of students across academic years of study. A total of 125 Physical Education students (52 males and 73 females) at the University of Botswana were measured. The students were attending certificate course, Diploma (year 1 and 2),Bachelor's degree in Education (B. Ed) (year 1 to 4) in Physical Education. All the students were measured by one of the authors and their mean ages ranged from 23.8 to 28.6 years for males and 25.8 to 30.8 years for females. Anthropometric measurements were taken according to the protocol of the International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK). These included body mass, stature, two breadths (humerus and femur), arm girths flexed and tense, calf girth and four skinfolds (triceps, subscapular, supraspinal and iliac crest). All the subjects were somatotyped using the Heath-Carter anthropometric somatotype method. Among the study group, the SAM values ranged from 1.2 to 2.1. The present sample is clustered in the mesomorph endomorph and mesomorphic endomorph categories with male students being more endomophic than female students. It is important in future studies to investigate the cultural diversity of the Botswana population as that might shed more light on the preponderance of endomorphy in the male group.本文旨在分析波斯尼亞大學體育本科生的體型結構,利用ISAK國際量度體型標準,量度了125名年齡由23至30歲學生的體型,結果顯示學生體型的分佈狀況,與文化背境的因素可能有關。

Summary Purpose: to determine the relationship between achievement motivation and the attitudes of schoolchildren of 11-17 years old and students of 18-21 years old to independent sports and passing control standards in the discipline \”Physical Education\”. Material: 1576 schoolchildren (boys n = 780 and girls n = 796) of comprehensive schools of Belgorod, Stary Oskol, Stroitel and Shebekino (Belgorod region, Russian Federation) and 246 students (men n = 127) were surveyed. and women n = 119) Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov (Belgorod, Russian Federation). The questionnaire consisted of three blocks of questions: the 1st block of questions - questions aimed at determining the age, sex, place of study of the respondent; 2nd block of questions - 8 questions, allowing to assess the attitude of the respondent to independent sports activities and the desire to take control standards of the discipline Y’Physical Education\”; 3rd block of questions is a test of 20 questions, developed by A.A. Rean, to assess the motivation to achieve success and avoid failures. Results: the motivation for avoiding failures was diagnosed in 5% male students and 10% female students. A direct correlation between achievement motivation and the attitude of schoolchildren and students towards independent sports activities and passing control standards has been revealed. Conclusions: there are no differences in the correlation between the relationship between achievement motivation and attitudes toward independent sports by gender. Schoolchildren and students with motivation to achieve regular self-exercise. Schoolchildren and students with a pronounced motivation for avoiding failures prefer a passive way of life. They do not want to pass standards on the discipline \”Physical Education\” and do not go in for sports on their own.
