Critical thinking ability is a process to leads to withdrawal conclusion about what do you believed and action will do. The importance of critical thinking ability on education and that is the main purpose of instructional, there are four importance component for build that ability that is (a) explain and clarify; (b) asking the correct question to clarify or challenge; (c) consider the source of credibility; (d) problem solving and illustrates the conclusion. Method of the research will use is qualitative descriptive. As for the sample in this research is ninth of grade students on Cimahi city from high ability, medium and low. For the instrument test of critical thinking ability will deliver to students are five questions and following with interview for each student. Then, the results obtained was the level of critical thinking ability mathematics students in Cimahi city. Based on the writing test and the results of the interview with the low-level students.

The aims of this study are to determine the improvement of critical thinking skills mathematical and metacognition of students who are taught with problem solving approach and the correlation between mathematical critical thinking and metacognition of students. This research is an experimental research with pretest-posttest control group design. The sample this research is the students of class VIII_2 and VIII_3 in SMP Negeri 1 Banda Aceh. Collecting data technique are test and nontest. Data were analyzed using t-test and correlation test. The result of the research shows 1) the critical thinking ability of the students who get the learning through problem solving approach is better than the students who get the conventional learning, 2) Metacognition of students who get the learning by using problem solving approach is better than the students who get the conventional learning, 3) a positive and significant relationship between students' metacognition and critical thinking skills.

The demands of the 2013 curriculum ideally are that learning is able to develop 4C skills, one of which is critical thinking and problem-solving skills (Critical-Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills), namely being able to think critically, laterally, and systematically, especially in the context of problem solving. In fact, students' critical thinking skills have not been maximally developed, especially in elementary schools. The learning process in elementary schools currently requires problem-based learning that requires students to actively carry out investigations in solving problems and the teacher acting as a facilitator or learning guide will be able to shape the ability of students to think critically. The purpose of this research is to describe the concept of Problem Based Learning (PBL), the concept of critical thinking ability, and the relationship between Problem Based Learning (PBL) and critical thinking ability. The results of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model improve critical thinking ability.

The purpose of this research wants to know the effect both grammar mastery and critical thinking towards student’s descriptive writing skill. It wants to know the effect of grammar mastery towards student’s descriptive writing skill. And then, it wants to know the effect of critical thinking towards student’s descriptive writing skill. Research method is a survey research which is taken from 90 students that are chosen randomly sampling technique at private senior high school in Karawang. There are several instruments, which are used in viewing the relationship between two independent variables (grammar mastery and critical thinking) and one dependent variable (descriptive writing skill), namely: (1) multiple choice test to measure the level of knowledge grammar mastery, (2) questionnaires to measure the level of cognitive in critical thinking, and (3) writing test to measure student’s ability in terms of descriptive writing skill. Data analysis technique used SPSS Version 16.0. The result of the research shown that (1) both grammars learned by student and critical thinking ability have effects on the student’s writing skill. This is evidence of the value both independent variables are Fcount = 339,539 and sig as big as 0,000 < 0,05. (2) grammar learnt by the students has effect on the student’s descriptive writing skill, this is evidenced by tcount = 26,037 and sig as big as 0,000 < 0,05. (3) critical thinking ability has no effect on the student’s descriptive writing skill, this is evidence by tcount = 0,858 and sig as big as 0,393 > 0,05.

This study aims to describe the critical thinking ability of male and female students in solving jumping task problems on proportion. The jumping task question used is a question with level C4 in Taksonomi Bloom. This type of research used is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The data collection method used consisted of the documentation mathematics students report in the first semester, critical thinking test, and interviews. The subjects used in this study are 32 students of class VII G on SMPN 4 Jember. consists of 16 male students and 16 female students. The students are divided into three groups based on the mathematics students report in the first semester. The groups are high, medium, and low category mathematics ability. The results showed that male students with high category mathematics ability had TKBK 3 (critical), male students with medium category mathematics ability had TKBK 1 (less critical), male students with low category mathematics ability had TKBK 0 (not critical). While female students with high category mathematics ability had TKBK 3 (critical), female students with medium category mathematics ability had TKBK 2 (quite critical), female students with low category mathematics ability had TKBK 1 (less critical).

The aim of study is to know the students’ mathematics critical thinking ability on the topic of lines and sequences arithmetic in pandemic Covid-19 period at SMA Negeri 1Padang Bolak. The approach of the research used qualitative descriptive and data analysis technique includes data reduction, data presentation, and taking conclusion. Instrument of the research used test and semistructure interview. the result of the research shows the average of students’ mathematics critical thinking ability on the topic of lines and sequences arithmetic in SMA Negeri 1 Padang Bolak is 67.26 (enough category). Only 8 from 10 students are able to answer three question completely and the rest are able to answer one from three questions.

Critical thinking skills of mathematics students are still low. Teachers lack training critical thinking ability of students during learning. This study aims to examine differences influence learning model group investigation and conventional learning models to the critical thinking skills of mathematics students. The research design was pretest-posttest control group design. The study population was all students in grade X SMAN 3 Kendari comprising 9 parallel classes. Samples were taken by purposive sampling, such as taking two classes that have the mathematical ability and the variance is relatively the same. Both classes were then randomized to determine the experimental class (34 students) and control class (32 students). Data collected through the provision of critical thinking skills tests as essay test form. Data was analyzed by descriptive and inferential test using t test at the 0.05 significance level. The results showed that: (1) there is an effects of the application of learning model group investigation of the critical thinking skills of mathematics students with an average N-Gain of 0.55 (medium); (2) there is an effect of the application of conventional learning models to the critical thinking skills of mathematics students with an average N-Gain of 0.283 (low); and (3) application of the learning model group investigation is more influential than the application of conventional learning model to mathematics students' critical thinking skills

This study aims to see how the mathematical model of critical thinking skills is based on Bloom theory in terms of Multiple Intelligences intelligence, namely Students have Linguistic Intelligences, Logical-Mathematical and Spatial Intelligence Intelligence. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Subjects taken in this study were using purpose sampling techniques. Data collection techniques used are tests, questionnaires, observation and interviews. Data analysis was carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner. Each Multiple Intelligences intelligence is capable of observing, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating and creating. Based on the tests and interviews the characteristics seen are at the stage of observing, understanding and applying. Not able to analyze, evaluate and be creative. Students who have a tendency to Linguistic Intelligence Intelligence processes the process of critical thinking mathematically has the stages of Lower Order Thinking (LOT). Students who have Spatial Intelligence Intelligence stages of critical thinking skills are mathematical, namely at the stage of observing, understanding, applying analysis and evaluation. At the stage of creation, the characteristics of students are not able. Students who have a tendency for Spatial Intelligence intelligence in the process of mathematical critical thinking skills at the level of Middle Order Thinking (MOT). Students who have the type of Logical-mathematical Intelligence Intelligence stage of critical thinking ability that is the stage of observing, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and developing. Students who have the type of Logical-mathematical Intelligence tendencies in the process of mathematical critical thinking abilities at the stages of Higher Order Thinking (HOT).
