Many criminal acts are committed by children. They mostly do so because of external encouragement, such as family and friends at play. It is not uncommon for them to need legal assistance to defend their rights and interests in the case resolution process. The ATMA Foundation is one of the institutions that handles cases of children as perpetrators of criminal acts. Using a qualitative approach by collecting data through interviews, this study aims to determine the role of the ATMA Foundation in providing legal assistance to child perpetrators of criminal acts.  The results of the study explain that diversion is the main step of the ATMA Foundation so that children's rights are not violated.  The aim is none other than to create a child-friendly legal and judicial system.

This chapter explores the potential for adopting a children’s rights-based approach when dealing with issues relating to children impacted by parental incarceration in Ireland. It argues that the adoption of such an approach allows for the development of policies and services that are rooted in respect for justice and dignity. The extent to which children’s rights are understood by staff within the Irish Prison Service (IPS) is also explored, as well as the possibility of a more instrumental approach to family visits. The purpose is therefore to highlight the need for criminal justice agencies and policy makers to directly acknowledge the rights of children with a parent in prison and, in turn, for them to develop policies that uphold those fundamental rights independent of the rights and interests of their parents. In this way, the chapter explores the role of rights in relation to prisoners’ families.

International migration is usually motivated by economic reasons. However, many people also migrate overseas to continue studies in higher-level education. This paper analyses the role of Indonesian students abroad, especially those who are members of the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) in protecting Indonesian workers (TKI). The research is focused on PPI in the country with the highest number of Indonesian migrant workers, namely Malaysia. This study applied a qualitative approach to collect primary and secondary data. Primary data was collected through interviews, and secondary data was gained through literature review. The research shows that PPI, as an agent of change, has a role in protecting migrant workers. The PPI has various kinds of contributions such as expressing ideas and discourses to protect international migrant workers, becoming a mediator (in solving conflicts involving the workers), facilitating shelter, providing repatriation assistance, legal assistance and advocacy, as well as economic empowerment and education activities for migrant workers and their families.

Purpose: This paper discusses that Pakistani judicial approach to separability, arbitrability and grounds to assume jurisdictions to decide these mattes does not sit well with the ICSID jurisprudence. Design/Methodology/Approach: Qualitative approach has been used. Findings: The Supreme Court’s judgment in Reko Diq is discussed in the light of awards rendered by ICSID to establish that the jurisdiction to decide the separability of arbitration agreement, arbitrability of a dispute or subject matter does not rest with a domestic court where parties have already conferred jurisdiction to determine these matters to ICSID and that Pakistani court cannot use any ground to assume jurisdiction over these matters.    Implications/Originality/Value: The paper concludes that the judicial system of Pakistan needs reforms to formalize and ascertain the role of domestic arbitration councils in alignment with the ICSID. This will help Pakistani firms competing in international markets to get necessary legal support at home in line with international standards.

SummaryThe role of intravascular coagulation in the production of the generalized Shwartzman phenomenon has been evaluated. The administration of endotoxin to animals prepared with Thorotrast results in activation of the coagulation mechanism with the resultant deposition of fibrinoid material in the renal glomeruli. Anticoagulation prevents alterations in the state of the coagulation system and inhibits development of the renal lesions. Platelets are not primarily involved. Platelet antiserum produces similar lesions in animals prepared with Thorotrast, but appears to do so in a manner which does not significantly involve intravascular coagulation. The production of adrenal cortical hemorrhage, comparable to that seen in the Waterhouse-Friderichsen syndrome, following the administration of endotoxin to animals that had previously received ACTH does not require intravascular coagulation and may not be a manifestation of the generalized Shwartzman phenomenon.

By decentring our reading of Hamlet, Stoppard’s tragicomedy questions the legitimacy of centres and of stable frames of reference. So Liliane Campos examines how Stoppard plays with the physical and cosmological models he finds in Hamlet, particularly those of the wheel and the compass, and gives a new scientific depth to the fear that time is ‘out of joint’. In both his play and his own film adaptation, Stoppard’s rewriting gives a 20th-century twist to these metaphors, through references to relativity, indeterminacy, and the role of the observer. When they refer to the uncontrollable wheels of their fate, his characters no longer describe the destruction of order, but uncertainty about which order is at work, whether heliocentric or geocentric, random or tragic. When they express their loss of bearings, they do so through the thought experiments of modern physics, from Galilean relativity to quantum uncertainty, drawing our attention to shifting frames of reference. Much like Schrödinger’s cat, Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are both dead and alive. As we observe their predicament, Campos argues, we are placed in the paradoxical position of the observer in 20th-century physics, and constantly reminded that our time-specific relation to the canon inevitably determines our interpretation.
