The year 2020 has made a mark in the history of mankind. India, too, was affected by the pandemic. To ensure a curb on the spread of the disease, India adopted a sequence emergency mechanism. It announced the closure of all educational institutions along with all the other establishments as a part of strict social distancing measures. The traditional mode of teaching and learning transitioned into online teaching. Online learning and virtual classrooms became the 'new normal'. The analysis was carried out using the data collected through structured questionnaire from 35 teachers in Kottayam District, Kerala a southern state of India. Data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics. It is evident from the study that the teachers lack in the use of various teaching methods for motivating and encouraging students. Further on, since the teachers were caught off guard, they had not received any formal or professional training to conduct online classes or use the advanced modes of technology.

A possible way to provide oral and written English practice by using Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) is through telecollaborative activities (SCHAEFER; HEEMANN, 2019). O’Dowd (2013) defines telecollaboration as the use of online technologies in the context of language teaching and learning with students who are geographically dispersed. Another possibility to favor the practice of English using ICTs is through digital stories, understood as the inclusion of multiple digital resources in storytelling (CASTAÑEDA, 2013). Drawing on scholars such as Brammerts (1996, 2003), Lambert (2006, 2007), Almeida (2014), O’Dowd (2012, 2013), Tumolo (2015) and Schaefer (2019), this study aims at presenting a theoretical-methodological proposal, which involves the use of ICTs, for English classes in Brazilian educational institutions. On the basis of the presentation of our theoretical-methodological proposal, we suggest that activities that utilize ICTs have the potential to produce challenges that may lead to language learning, student motivation, collaborative work and reflection.

Cultural institutions such as libraries and archives play an important role in the preservation of, and access to, cultural heritage. The digitization of documents of an historical educational nature is essential to ensure the preservation of the collective memory of certain generations for schoolchildren, and its use for educational purposes allows a collective identity to be re-established, suitable for use on increasingly large subject groups. This article examines the benefits of digitizing a specific type of material related to school culture, exercise books, which have played a significant role in the history of the teaching and learning processes. It examines issues related to the conservation of these items and access to them, given their cultural heritage and their impact on the preservation and upkeep of the history of educational institutions. The main aspects and stages of the CoDiSV project, which aims to build a digital library of cultural assets, and educational and historical ones in particular, will then be discussed.

The study aimed to map the critical success factors for the adoption of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the educational process of educational institutions. Problems related to the adoption of ICT in the educational system stem from the need to adapt to the use of new technologies in the internal processes of institutions and in teaching and learning processes, common to different profiles of educational institutions including of engineering courses with them specificities. To meet the objective, a review of the existing bibliography in the Scopus database was carried out to highlight articles relevant to the topic. Based on the review, 31 articles identified the main factors and effects that influence and impact the process of implementation and continued use of ICTs. The survey generated a broader view of the challenges faced in different dimensions, from SWOT framework, involving different stakeholders. It is suggested in future studies to engineering analyze deeper the complex scenario that involves the theme.

The purpose of the study is to investigate the movement towards visualization in e-learning. The study methods include a survey and a theoretical modeling method. The study focuses on analyzing data from the 2020 public opinion survey “School graduates and students expressed their opinion on distance education” by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) and develops a four-tier framework model for e-learning content visualization that integrates four theories of learning, namely behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, and activism. The results indicate that visualization in e-learning as a trend is strongly associated with global information and communication technologies (ICTs) development. The survey by VCIOM found that 38% of surveyed students in Russia viewed their educational institutions as averagely equipped for online distance learning, 22% - well-equipped, 26% - rather well-equipped, 12% - rather poorly equipped, and 7% - poorly equipped. This study offers content visualization framework that will make it possible to organize the teaching and learning process.

Open and Distance Learning (ODL) nowadays becomes a trend in higher education. Course delivery and course materials distribution have already been in electronic form by using information and communication technology (ICT). This technology becomes cheaper and much easier to be used. Indonesia as a nation where its people spread in thousands of islands does not always have face-to-face university in each city. Meanwhile, the need of skilled worker is always increased. ODL then becomes an alternative to educate people by using different way of teaching and learning process. People who have difficulties in accessing face-to-face university can use ODL as an alternative to upgrade their education. The role of ICT in ODL become important since the students can learn by using ICT. The students can also “meet” their colleagues virtually. Meanwhile, it was explored that ICT can be utilized for online examination. Online examination is more efficient, much faster in processing the examination result, and much cheaper in budget. This article discusses many aspects of strength and weakneses which is faced by educational institutions in administering online examinations.

Information and communication technologies play a key role in public relations applications in creating an effective communication between institutions and target audiences and student support services of distance education institutions. The necessity of making use of new communication technologies by educational institutions is because they obtain and spread information. While distance education provides students an opportunity of independent and individual study, it also should make teaching and learning process easier and more interesting for students. The aim of this study is to propose a model for open and distance education universities in using public relations process in setting up websites. It can be put forward if the public relations process is applied in public relations applications carried out on the Web.

The use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in learning institutions is an order of the day in various parts of the world. This primarily has to do with its significance in teaching and learning on one hand, and its associated obstacles on the other. ICT been in used in Nigerian higher institutions for decades, steadily making progress, however, many obstacles were noted in the literatures. This study is conceptualized to review ICT usage in Nigeria and the associated obstacles amongst tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The study is asked to pinpoint these by extracting related literatures. The study identified obstacles such as inconsistent electricity supply, computer illiteracy, high cost of internet data and electronic services, fear of change, fear of redundancy, lack of adequate facilities and the issue of internet and electronic security. It is suggested that provision of consistent electricity supply, training and ICT refresher courses and establishment of ICT centers to curtail cyber- crime etc. will go a long way in overcoming the barriers of effective integration and usage of ICT in the Nigerian tertiary institutions.
