Reading is one of the techniques in learning that is often involved in classroom practices, and Two Stay Two Stray is one of the methods introduced in the cooperative learning process. This study aims to find out how the Two Stay Two Stray technique improved students' reading comprehension. This research focused on applied classroom action research. The population of this research was the students of the English Education Department. This research was used to take one class as the research sample, which consists of 32 students.  The instrument of this research was a multiple-choice test. There are two cycles in this research. The result shows that students' mean score in cycle 1 was 59,68 and in cycle 2 was 75,31. Based on the results, the Two Stay Two Stray technique was successful. Therefore, it can be inferred that the Two Stay Two Stray technique strengthened the students' reading comprehension. In addition, the students were more interested and inspired to join the class, and they were excited during the teaching-learning process, based on the results of the observation sheet.

The objective of this research is to know whether Podcast can improve the students’ pronunciation in speaking English when it is implemented in teaching learning process in class 01 Semester I, English Education Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, UNISRI, Surakarta in 2019/2020 Academic Year.This research method used a Classroom Action Research which was implemented in two cycles. The subject of the research was class 01 Semester I, English Education Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, UNISRI, Surakarta in 2019/2020 Academic Year. This study was conducted in two cycles. The first cycle consisted of four meetings, and the second cycle consisted of three meetings. The procedure of the action research consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The data were collected through questionnaire, interview, field notes, and test. To analyze the quantitative data, the researcher applied descriptive statistics. It was used to compare the scores and means of pre-test and post-test. The pre-test was conducted in the preliminary research while post-test was conducted at the end of cycle 1 and 2. The result of the test was used to know how well the students understand the text of listening. To analyze the qualitative data, the researcher analyzed the improvement of the teaching learning process based on the results of questionnaire, interview, and field notes.The result of the research showed that the use of Podcast has helped students to get exposed to correct pronunciation. By constantly listening to Podcast of native speakers of English, students develop their skill not only in listening but also in pronouncing the words in English correctly. It also has helped the students in improving the students’ vocabulary mastery. In conclusion, by listening to Podcast, students can improve their pronunciation and vocabulary mastery so that they also can speak more during the speaking activity.Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that students’ pronunciation in English can be improved by the use of Podcast. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers and students can use Podcast as one of the alternative techniques in teaching and learning speaking.Keywords : Podcast, Proununciation, Speaking Skill, Action Research

Misconceptions on kinematics experienced by 20 % of students of  X IPA 2 SMAN 2 Bontang. This problem is as a great reason for solving the barriers, as a way to improve the students’achievement. This study aimed to describe the learning process and reduction of students’ misconceptions. This study is a classroom action research. This study was carred out two cycles, namely cycle I and continued in process cycle II. Each cycles consist of four components, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. This study was in SMAN 2 Bontang, the total subject of this study is 34 students of X IPA 2. The data is collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and test conception. The conception test is multiple choice test. The number of test item are ten items followed by Certainty of Response Index (CRI) and argument-respons. The test is used to know the concept knowledge students, and the arguments is used to make sure the student’knowledge about conception. The analysis method used is descriptive qualitative. The results of the study showed that average students in mastering concept improve and students achievement improve from 41,93 and 0% (preaction) to 63,12 and 44,1% ( cycle I ) to 80,78 and 91,2 % ( cycle II ). CRI analysis result and coding argument show that student’s misconception of eight concepts tested is reduced. It can be conclude that the use of cooperative learning model based KIT and PhET can improve the learning process and reduce misconception students. Miskonsepsi pada materi kinematika gerak lurus dialami oleh 20% siswa kelas X IPA 2 SMAN 2 Bontang. Hal ini menjadi landasan kuat bahwa tindakan untuk mengatasi hambatan-hambatan dalam pembelajaran diperlukan sebagai langkah perbaikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan pembelajaran dan reduksi miskonsepsi siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). PTK direncanakan dua siklus, yaitu siklus I dan dilanjutkan pada proses siklus II. Setiap siklus terdiri atas empat komponen, yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMAN 2 Bontang dengan subyek penelitian siswa kelas X IPA 2 berjumlah 34 orang. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, angket, dan tes konsepsi. Tes konsepsi berbentuk pilihan ganda sebanyak sepuluh nomor disertai Certainty of Response Index (CRI) dan argumentasi jawaban. Tes digunakan untuk mengungkap konsepsi siswa, argumentasi digunakan untuk menegaskan konsep siswa secara lebih dalam. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata penguasaan konsep siswa dan ketuntasan meningkat dari 41,93 dan 0% (prapenelitian) menjadi 63,12 dan 44,1% (siklus I) kemudian menjadi 80,78 dan 91,2 % (siklus II). Hasil analisis CRI dan pengkodean argumentasi menunjukkan bahwa miskonsepsi siswa terhadap delapan konsep yang diujikan mengalami reduksi. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan model pembelajaran kooperatif strategi konflik kognitif berbantuan KIT dan PhET dapat meningkatkan proses dan mereduksi miskonsepsi siswa.

This research was conducted to improve the students’ reading comprehension by employing graphic organizers through Team-Pair-Solo strategy. Classroom Action Research which involved 32 eighth graders was employed in this study. The instruments were reading comprehension test, observation checklists, field notes and questionnaire. The steps done in employing the strategy were: (1) working in group in comprehending the text, (2) discussing the answer, (3) working in pairs,(4) creating their own graphic organizers, (5) swapping their work (6) giving feedback, (7) discussing the feedback (8) revising individually, (9) retelling the text by using their graphic organizers. The findings of this study showed that the strategy improved students’ ability; most of the students (87.5%) were actively involved and enthusiastic in teaching-learning process; and most of them (90%) gave positive perceptions toward the implementation of the strategy. These results indicated that the strategy was effective in improving students’ reading comprehension ability.

The objective of this study is to investigate whether the application of Before, During, and After (BDA) Technique significantly improves the students’ achievement in reading narrative text. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of this research was the students in MTs S Al-Ittihadiyah Mamiyai Medan especially class VIII 1 which consisted of 32 students. The research was conducted in two cycles. The first cycle consisted of three meetings and the second cycle consisted of three meetings. The instruments for collecting data were interview sheet, observation sheet, and diary notes. Based on the analysis, students’ achievement is improved in every test of reading narrative test. In test I, the mean score was 50.93. In test II in cycle I, the mean score was 70.93. In test III in cycle II, the mean score was 91.75. Based on the interview sheet, observation sheet and diary notes, it was found that the teaching learning process ran well. The students were more active and enthusiastic working in group. It was conclude that Before, During, and After (BDA) Technique can improve the students’ achievement in reading narrative text.   Keywords: BDA Technique, Reading, Narrative text, Action Research

This study deals with improving students’ reading comprehension through Two Stay – Two Stray Strategy. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of the research was class VIIIC MTs. Lab. IKIP Al- Wasliyah Medan which consisted of 34 students. The research was conducted in two cycles and every cycle consisted of four meetings and two meetings. The instruments for collecting data were quantitative data (multiple choice test) and qualitative data (diary notes, observation sheet, and interview). In test I, the mean score was 63.28. in test II, the mean score was 67.96. and in test III the mean score was 72.96. It can be concluded that Two Stay – Two Stray Strategy could improve students’ reading comprehension.

The action research in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroomaims to enhance development of quality teaching and learning processcontributing not only to the quality of EFL teachers in handling the processof teaching learning but also to the quality of the students in learningEnglish. This study aims at analyzing the phenomenon of how pre serviceteachers carry out action research as their final Project. It is conducted inEnglish Education Department, one of universities in Indonesia. Three ofthe students� papers were selected randomly to analyze. Review ofdocuments and questionnaires were employed as data collection in thisstudy. Having gathered the data, they were holistically analyzed as a casestudy occurring in English Education Department. The results indicatedthere were several cases happened. First, the pre service teachers did notcomprehend holistically the notion of action research. Second, backgroundof the study was not elaborated completely showing evidences of thestudy. Third, it is also unclear how all problem indicators were improvedrationally using particular techniques or method. Fourth, they did not alsocomprehensively collect and analyze the data. The last, reporting theresearch project focused only on the quantitative data rather thanqualitative one. Therefore, both researchers and supervisors are necessaryto possess the whole understanding toward the type of the researchchosen. Enriching literature reviews will enhance their literacy in order toachieve a better implementation in conducting action research.Keywords: action research, case study, pre-service teacher

This research aimed at improving students reading comprehension through cooperative learning strategies using numbered heads together in MTs Ma’arif 2 Muntilan. This was classroom action research with 3 cycles. There were 4 steps in conducting the research; (1) Planning; (2) Acting; (3) Observing; (4) Reflecting. This research involved 27 students of eight graders. The instruments used in this research were observation, interview, test (pre-test and post- test), field-notes, questionnaire, and documentation. It was found that the students’ average score in pre-test was 46, the first post-test was 59. The second post-test was 81 and the third post-test was 94. It meant that the post-test was higher than pre-test. Besides, the students also had been well interested during the learning process in each cycle. In conclusion, the findings of this research showed that through CL strategies using NHT could improve the students’ reading comprehension. Hence, it is recommended for the further researcher to use NHT as an alternative strategy in improving the students’ reading comprehension.

This study departs from the background of the need for using of the picture story book in improving the reading interest of students as one of the ways and creativity of teachers in the learning process in STKIP Bina Insan Mandiri. The purpose of this study is to describe the using of picture story book so as to improve the speaking skills of STKIP Bina Insan Mandiri. The students of English Education department. This type of research used classroom action research conducted in STKIP Bina Insan Mandiri Surabaya with 2 cycles which each cycle is conducted through 2 meetings. In the first cycle is some children are not yet accustomed in learning activities using picture story book so that speaking skills have not been too visible increase significantly. In the first cycle speaking skills earn 42% of the total number of students, and in the second cycle of reading interest of children increased to 81%. It can be concluded that learning by using picture story book can improve the speaking skills in STKIP Bina Insan Mandiri Surabaya.

The purpose of this study is to increase the minimum mastery standard in automotive electrical systems repairing matter with subject applying Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) model cooperative learning. This study used a classroom action research whitch was conducted in two cyles, each eycle consisted of four phases: planning, implementation, observation, dan reflection. The data were analyzed descriptively. The result proved that teaching learning process using STAD model cooperative learning increased the minimum mastery standard of students. Before applying STAD model cooperative learning, none passed the minimum mastery standard. After applying STAD model cooperative learning, there are advancement in term of the number of students passing the standard 48,48% in the first cycle and 87,88% in the second cycle. The average score reached 71,48 and 81,83 in the first and the second cycle. Therefore, this study concludes that STAD cooperative model increased the minimum mastery standard in automotive electrical systems repairing subject.
