The objective of this research is to know whether Podcast can improve the students’ pronunciation in speaking English when it is implemented in teaching learning process in class 01 Semester I, English Education Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, UNISRI, Surakarta in 2019/2020 Academic Year.This research method used a Classroom Action Research which was implemented in two cycles. The subject of the research was class 01 Semester I, English Education Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, UNISRI, Surakarta in 2019/2020 Academic Year. This study was conducted in two cycles. The first cycle consisted of four meetings, and the second cycle consisted of three meetings. The procedure of the action research consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The data were collected through questionnaire, interview, field notes, and test. To analyze the quantitative data, the researcher applied descriptive statistics. It was used to compare the scores and means of pre-test and post-test. The pre-test was conducted in the preliminary research while post-test was conducted at the end of cycle 1 and 2. The result of the test was used to know how well the students understand the text of listening. To analyze the qualitative data, the researcher analyzed the improvement of the teaching learning process based on the results of questionnaire, interview, and field notes.The result of the research showed that the use of Podcast has helped students to get exposed to correct pronunciation. By constantly listening to Podcast of native speakers of English, students develop their skill not only in listening but also in pronouncing the words in English correctly. It also has helped the students in improving the students’ vocabulary mastery. In conclusion, by listening to Podcast, students can improve their pronunciation and vocabulary mastery so that they also can speak more during the speaking activity.Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that students’ pronunciation in English can be improved by the use of Podcast. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers and students can use Podcast as one of the alternative techniques in teaching and learning speaking.Keywords : Podcast, Proununciation, Speaking Skill, Action Research

The aims of the study are to know whether communicative games have an impact on teaching speaking skill and describe how communicative games give an influence on speaking skills of students at junior high schools in Jakarta, Indonesia. Classroom Action Research (CAR) was implemented based on Kurt. L model. The procedures used were planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. It was done into two cycles in each cycle consisted of three meetings. The researcher used collaborative action research with some of the English teachers. In collecting the data, the instruments were interview, observation, questionnaire and test. The test only given to students. The rest of the instruments administered for both teachers and students. The result of the study showed the mean score’s pretest reached of 60.42 to 69.02 and post test’s score reached up to 78.77. It is important to describe that there is a significant improvement of 13.9% to 41.7% in post test 1 and 83.33% in post test 2. Therefore, the criteria of success had been determined. It is crucial to note that communicative games have contributed a positive impact on teaching learning process. This also implies the communicative games expected to enhance students’ enthusiasm and motivation. Clearly, It gives positive improvement on students’ active participation, confidence and their fluency in speaking skill. In short it can be described that the strategy of teaching and learning creates good, enjoyable circumstances and reduces the boredom and stress of learning process.

This research begun from the students’ problems in understanding the English structure at the first semester of English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Madura Islamic University (UIM) Pamekasan. From the data, it showed that most of students did not achieve the target score 75 (B), it was only 43.75% students. These problems occurred because 1) they used to memorize the pattern of English structure, 2) they seldom practice it in spoken or written, 3) they felt afraid of making mistakes. Concerning with these, the researcher tried to solve by implementing an appropriate strategy, it is SAVI (SOMATIC, AUDITORY, VISUAL AND INTELLECTUAL) which was introduced by Dave Meire. The research design is Classroom Action Research (CAR). It was done in two cycles with four steps; planning, acting, observing and reflecting. After conducting the research, there were significant improvements of students’ score. From the data, in the preliminary study, there were only 43.75% who achieved the target score. After implementing SAVI in the cycle I, there were improvement of students score, it was 62.5% students who achieved the target score. In cycle II, there were 87.5% students. From the data above, it could be concluded that implementing SAVI is success because it achieved the target score, it is more than 85% students got 75 (B). To write an ‘attention grabbing’ paragraph, the students should do a lot of practices in writing. However, the fact showed that writing skill was frightening and boring skill to learn as lecturers applied boring and monotonous teaching technique. Thus, the present research was mainly intended to answer the following questions: how effective is simultaneous roundtable in improving the students’ genre-based paragraph writing ability? and how do the students respond the application of simultaneous roundtable in teaching genre-based paragraph writing? The subjects of this research were two classes of the second semester students of English Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Mahasaraswati Denpasar University which consisted of 62 students altogether. The design of the present study was classroom action research which were carried out in three cycles. The progressing results of the pre-test, post-test 1, 2 and 3 confirmed that simultaneous roundtable was effective in improving genre-based paragraph writing ability. In addition, the results of the questionnaire showed that most of the subjects agreed on the application of simultaneous roundtable in teaching genre-based paragraph writing.

Abstract In this study, the researcher used method Classroom Action Research (CAR) to improve the quality of the learning and teaching processes as well as to detect and solving the problems that found in the teaching and learning process. The subjects of this research were the 34 students in SMK Budi Bhakti Utama Padalarang. The researcher used collaborative action research with some English teachers in the school. In this study, the researcher using the instruments interview and questionnaire test to collecting the data. The test that given to students is pre test and also post test in the and of the class or after the students has a treatment. In this result of the study showed the mean score of pretest is 62.02 to 64.00 and post test’s score reached up to 79.00. It is important to describe that there is a significant improvement of the test. Therefore, the criteria of success had been determined. It is crucial to remember that communicative games have contributed and positive impact on teaching and learning process. The communicative games like snowball throwing game expected to enhance students’ motivation and enthusiasm in learning English. Clearly, It gives positive improvement on students’ confidence and their fluency in speaking skill. The Mean

This research is aimed at finding out whether the use of Kahoot! application can increase the students’ critical reading ability, learning autonomy, and their learning participation in Critical Reading learning process. This research was conducted at the English Education Program Study of IAIN Surakarta involving 36 students as the research subjects. This classroom action research consisted of 2 cycles; 5 meetings for each cycle, with 1 pre-test and 2 post-tests. Based on the research results, it can be found out that the mean of pre-test scores is 25.56, the mean of post-test 1 is 44.39, and the mean of post-test 2 is 66.17; it means that the use of Kahoot! application can increase the students’ critical reading ability. The results of the questionnaire consisting of 9 indicators show that the use of Kahoot! application can increase the students’ learning autonomy. Furthermore, results from observation also show that the students’ learning participation increased during the learning process when Kahoot! application was applied. The students also assumed that the use of Kahoot! application can increase their learning participation.

The Way

Washback is one of the principles of language assessment. It is the effects of an assessment on teaching and learning prior to the assessment itself, that is, on preparation for the assessment (Brown, 2004). This article aims at describing washback in EFL writing courses at English study program of teacher training and education faculty of Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji (UMRAH). The description was got from my own experiences and another writing lecturer’s. To get a more detail description from another lecturer, I interviewed him and his students dealing with the assessment done during the course as well as its impact towards the teaching and learning. Futhermore, I did observation on the improvement of the students’ task and test scores. Finally, it was found that in writing courses at English Education Study Program of Teacher training and Education Faculty (FKIP) of UMRAH, washback did contribute to the quality of teaching and learning since it provides feedback for both the instructors and the students. The feedback helps the instructors to plan a better teaching as well as helps students to do a better learning. The form, content, focus and delivery of writing assessments (tasks and tests) administered during the course determine the way it is taught and the way the students learn. As a result, these features in turn tend to affect the success of the course.

This article aimed to reveal the teaching-learning process of how to read and write the Qur'an with the Al-Barqy method to Faculty of Teacher Training and Education students at Sriwjaya University. The research method used qualitative method. The data collection was takenfrom observation, interviews, and documentation. The respondents consisted of students and lecturers of Islamic Education. This research focusedon the learning process of how to read and write the Al-Qur'an using the Al-Barqy method? What are the advantages and disadvantages used in the Al-Barqy method? The information obtained was analyzed with interactive analysis through several components, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Then the data from the observation and documentation were adjusted. This teaching-learning process only emphasized on the ability to read and write the Qur'an in Faculty of Teacher Training and Education students at Sriwijaya University. The result of this research of the teaching-learning process to read and write Al-Qur'an with the al-barqy method made students learn the Qur'an quicker and easiercompared to other methods. This method used easier steps and a fun process. And there were several advantages, namely: Used a short period of time which was up to 8 hours and for adults was only up to 200 minutes to read the Qur’an,can be used for all ages both children and adults. While the drawbacks of this method include: This method was called the 8-hour method meaning that the learning time was relatively short and if it was for children's education then we must pay attention to their conditions both endurance and their memories, the understandings of hijaiyah letters was not very deep.

Abstrak: Tujuan yang ingin dicapai dari penelitian ini adalah melakukan kegiatan monitoring dan evaluasi terhadap proses perkuliahan di Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi FKIP Unram sebagai usaha untuk meningkatkan mutu perkulihan di Prodi tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptip, dengan populasi seluruh dosen Program Studi Pendidikan  Biologi FKIP Unram yang mengajar pada  semester genap tahun 2013/2014 yang bejumlah 29 orang. Sampel  dalam  penelitian ini adalah  sampel populasi. Data diperoleh dengan menggunakan instrumen angket diberikan kepada dosen untuk melihat kesiapan mengajar serta keterlaksanaan perkuliahan dan kepada mahasiswa untuk mengungkapkan tentang pelaksanaan proses perkuliahan. Data dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif, selanjutnya dideskripsikan. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini bahwa respon mahasiswa terhadap proses perkuliahan menunjukkan kualitas ketercapaian berkategori baik dan sangat baik 65,57%, cukup baik/sedang 27,05%, dan kurang 6,29%.Kata kunci: monitoring dan evaluasi, mutu perkuliahan, respon Abstract: The aim of this research are monitoring and evaluating the lecturing process in biologys department in teacher training and education faculty as the efforts to increase its quality. Methods used in this research is descriptive, with population of all lecturers in biologys department in faculty of teacher training and education of mataram University that teach in year of 2013/2014 in total of 29 lecturers. Samples of this research are getting by using questionnaire given to all 29 lecturers to see how ready are them to teach and lecturing implementation, as well to students to express how the learning process run. Data were analysed by qualitative and quantitative ways, then fully described. This study examines ways of improving Arabic's teaching and learning process by applying YouTube video clips as audio-visual aids. Eighteen Arabic students in Kaduna State College of Education and Kwara State University constituted the study sample. A descriptive method with Pre-test and Post-test was conducted. Data were collected through the essay writing, translation, and structure test. The data were analyzed through the descriptive statistics of frequency (f) and percentage (%). The study findings revealed that the subjects performed better and demonstrated linguistic communicative competence in Arabic. Finally, the study recommends that YouTube videos should be integrated into the Arabic teaching-learning process.
