The aim of this thesis was two-fold: firstly, to gain an in-depth understanding of the experiences of academy football parents and identify support that may be beneficial, and; secondly, develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of support for parents of academy footballers. Two action research cycles were carried out to address these aims. The exploration and reflection phases of action research cycle one, sought to understand parents’ experiences and offer recommendations for supporting parents within youth academy football. An instrumental case study of one football academy was conducted, with data collected over an eight-month period through interviews, focus groups, informal conversations, reflexive diary, fieldwork, and observations. It was recommended during this study that parents may benefit from a programme of support, along with a series of cultural changes that focused on enhancing their experience. Subsequently, based on these initial findings, reflections, and recommendations made, a programme of support for academy parents, combined with cultural changes, was developed and implemented. The initial programme was evaluated using interviews, observations, informal conversations, practitioner reflections, fieldwork, and an online survey. Overall, parents found the sessions useful for gaining information and benefitted from talking with other parents. However, attendance was poor and some academy staff did not buy-in to the proposed cultural changes. As such, following a period of reflection and building on the findings of the first action research cycle, a second programme was planned and delivered. This was a condensed programme, comprising one 90-minute face-to-face session and booklet. Further cultural changes were also promoted. This programme was evaluated using an online survey, observations, fieldwork, informal conversations, and practitioner reflections. As with the first programme, parents suggested that the condensed version was useful for increasing their knowledge, they enjoyed learning from others, and gained social support. Despite the condensed programme, the issues pertaining to attendance and buy-in continued. Based on the findings of the two action research cycles, general suggestions for working with parents and developing parent support interventions are presented.

This case study examines contemporary recreational sports practitioners’ communication practices and social tie formation from the perspective of two lifestyle sports disciplines: climbing and trail running. Online survey results from 301 climbers and trail runners from Finland indicate that computer-mediated communication (CMC) has established its place in recreational lifestyle sports cultures; however, it has not done it at the expense of face-to-face (FtF) communication. Online interaction produces weak social ties with instrumental and informative value, but physical location is essential in establishing ties with emotional and appraisal value. This paper argues that it is the sports subculture and individual practitioners’ needs that define how interaction is realized, and what importance different online and off-line communication practices have. Besides studying communication practices, this case study explores the social meanings practitioners attribute to their social contacts.

This study aimed to understand how the psychotherapeutic bond develops in bipersonal online psychodrama. This is an action research, through a case study of a 20-year-old woman, with an analysis of the first five sessions of about 50 minutes. It was possible to conclude that the link in online psychodrama has differences in relation to the face-to-face, but it is noted that there are many psychodramatic contributions to its development, from the theory (man and world view) as well as psychodramatic techniques.

Purpose – This paper aims to investigate students’ energy literacy at a UK university, and recommends ways in which it can be enhanced using a behaviour change model. Developing students’ energy literacy is a key part of the “greening” agenda, yet little is known about how students develop their ideas about energy use and energy saving at a university. Design/methodology/approach – The research utilised a mixed-methods approach including an online survey (with 1,136 responses) and focus groups. Findings – The research identified strengths and weaknesses in students’ energy literacy, and noted the relative influence of formal and informal curricula. The potential for aligning these curricula is highlighted through the 4Es model of enable, engage, exemplify and encourage. Research limitations/implications – The research involved a single instrumental case-study site. The wider applicability of the findings should therefore be tested further in other institutions. Practical implications – The research suggests ways in which universities might better support their students in making more sustainable energy-related behaviour choices, and it indicates the importance of knowledge as well as attitudes. Social implications – The research may have implications for the energy-saving behaviours of individuals in the wider society. Originality/value – Attempts to reduce energy use in higher education are widely seen in campus operations. This research provides an indication of the potential for enhancing energy-saving through different forms of curricula.

he Covid-19 pandemic forced all universities in Indonesia to divert their learning process from face to face to online mode within a limited resource and in a very short time. The approach, methods, and mechanisms of learning process, which have to be adjusted, during the Covid-19 are extremely varied within university. The study was conducted to explore the implementation of online learning in Indonesia during Covid-19 pandemic. In order to get information on how the institution, lecturers and students face this situation, an online survey was conducted. The questionnaire contained some aspects of approaches, methods and mechanisms of online learning; provisions of learning materials; resources such as devices for accessing online learning, internet connection, the cost of the internet connection; as well as the usability of online learning after the Covid-19 pandemic. There were 828 respondents participating in the survey. The participants involved in the survey were lecturers (51.21%) and students (35.39%) from various universities and the rest 13.41% from other institutions in Indonesia. A case study of Universitas Terbuka on the strategies, methods, and techniques of organizing online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic was discussed specifically to enrich the information. Based on the information from online survey and a case study of Universitas Terbuka, the learning strategies, methods and technics in online learning in the future, after the Covid-19 pandemic have been addressed.

This chapter responds to the needs of educators in preparing to teach online fully due to the pandemic, COVID-19. This scenario becomes the new normal in the teaching and learning process during the COVID-19 pandemic. The main objective of this chapter is to investigate the roles of educators in one public higher learning institution in Malaysia during emergency remote teaching due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Emergency remote teaching is argued to be the answer to the sudden change from face-to-face teaching to a fully online teaching environment. Data for this chapter were collected through an online survey distributed to potential respondents. Adopting a case study and quantitative approach to research, descriptive and inferential statistical analysis were conducted and presented. Preliminary findings suggest two key challenges. Firstly, educators were ready to embark on transformative emergency remote teaching. Nonetheless, they were not sure of the differences between emergency remote teaching and online teaching; these two have different pedagogical approaches. Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, educators were able to use appropriate platforms and applications during the pandemic; however, they did not have ample time to study other platforms and applications. By this, the author argues that some educators have various options to choose from but may lack the knowledge and understanding on how these options work best. In accepting the new normal in teaching and learning, educators must be open to new and creative strategies to engage students during 100 percent online learning.

The purpose of this research is to improve learning outcomes of natural sciences subjects through theapplication of cooperative learning model type example non example in class V SDN 003 Beringin Teluk. Theform of this research is classroom action research, with 22 subjects consisting of 10 men and 12 women. Basedon the results of the research cycle I the percentage of teacher activity amounted to 54.1% with sufficientcategories and increased in the second meeting to 62.5% with good categories. In the second cycle of the firstmeeting the percentage of teacher activity was 70.8% in the good category and at the second meeting increasedto 83.3% in the very good category. student activity by 50% with less categories and at the second meetingincreased to 58.3% with enough categories. In the second cycle the first meeting the percentage of studentactivity was 75% in the good category and increased in the second meeting to 87.5% in the very good category.student learning outcomes in the basic score of the presentation was 40.9%, after repeated daily cycle Iincreased to 63.6% and again increased in cycle II to 86.3%. Departing from the results of this action it can beconcluded that the application of cooperative learning model type example non examples can improve thelearning outcomes of Natural Sciences class V SDN 003 Beringin Teluk.

This research is motivated by low student social studies learning outcomes. This study aims to improve social studies learning outcomes by using video media in class VI SDN 004 Teratak Buluh. This research is a classroom action research that includes activities with stages of planning, action, observation and reflection. The results showed that the increase in social studies learning outcomes of class VI students, the average classical completeness before class action research was 75% in the first cycle of 82.14% and in the second cycle it was 92.85%. Scientific performance learning outcomes before class action research is 65.36%, and scientific performance learning outcomes after class action research cycle I is 72.76% increased by 7.4%, and scientific performance learning outcomes after class II cycle action research is 73.17% also increased by 0.41% from cycle I. The occurrence of increased learning outcomes of scientific performance also affects student learning outcomes. Based on the results of classroom action research, it can be concluded that using video media can improve social studies learning outcomes. Grade VI students of SDN 004 Teratak Buluh.

This interdisciplinary case study explores information literacy policy in Ontario’s public education system. Using interviews with policy makers and a rhetorical analysis of information literacy policy documents, it finds Ontario’s current information literacy policy inadequate to the task of providing equitable student access to opportunities for information literacy development.Une étude cas interdisciplinaire explore la politique de littératie informationnelle du système d’éducation publique de l’Ontario. En utilisant des entrevues avec les décideurs et une analyse rhétorique des documents sur la politique de littératie informationnelle, il est démontré que la politique de littératie informationnelle actuelle de l’Ontario est inappropriée pour la mission qui vise à offrir aux étudiants un accès équitable aux possibilités de développement de la littératie informationnelle.

Education is an important thing that has become a necessity for every human being in order to achieve a better quality of life. Education cannot be separated from the educational curriculum, which is where the curriculum continues to develop following every development of society and technological advances. The curriculum is the heart of education and is dynamic in nature where the curriculum must always be updated or changed. From this curriculum reform and change, it is a challenge for teachers to continue to innovate to improve the quality of education. By using a qualitative research method a case study approach, it is hoped that it can explain the real picture that is being experienced by the teacher at SMK Ibnu Sina. which focuses on the Sharia Banking major due to changes in the adjusted curriculum because the world is being faced by COVID-19. In the era of COVID-19, the educational curriculum must be adjusted, which in the beginning learning can be face-to-face now has turned into a distance learning online learning model.
