Gastropods plays an important role in the food chain on seagrass ecosystem and its existence are depend on the physical-chemical factors in the seagrass ecosystem. This study aims to determine the density and diversity of gastropods associated in seagrass habitat in Nusi and Gersen coastal waters. The measurement results of some physical-chemical waters variables, are still quite good for the life of gastropods. Species composition of gastropod in Nusi at higher than at the Gersen, but instead of individual density in Gersen more higher than Nusi. Diversity index of gastropods at Nusi station is higher (3,757) than Gersen (3.053), on the contrary the eveness and dominance index are higher at Gersen station than Nusi station. Community similarity index by species is low between the two stations, which indicates that the species of gastropods at both stations is quite different. The influence of human activity and higher utilizatin of gastropods in Nusi has lowered the density of gastropods in seagrass habitat, so it needs awareness efforts on the importance of gastropods and the seagrass habitat for coastal ecosystem.

On the port pole is very much found biota attached. The biota is barnacles (Balanus sp). The attachment does not only occur in natural substrates. It may also occur in different means of human interest, such as ships and docks. This research is devoted to macroscopic biofouling, whose attachment is massif on the dock pole. This study aims to determine the species and ecological index of biota fouling in different media in the Daruba Morotai Island Regency. The data retrieval method uses a quadratic with a scale of 20×100 cm2. This study used three media, namely wood media (speedboat wooden pier), iron media (speedboat floating pier), and concrete media (Imam Lastori's main pier). Ecological indices analyzed include abundance, Diversity Index, Uniformity Index, and Dominance Index. The analysis results found the most number of macrobiofouling species in the wood medium (7 species). The largest number of individuals found is Branchidontes sp. (661 individuals). The findings of the study of the maximum macrofouling abundance are found in concrete media with a value of 491. Diversity in all media is classified as medium with a value of H' on wood media 1.22, iron media 1.04, and concrete media 1.34. The uniformity index (E) of all three media indicates the uniformity of broad populations with the maximum E found in concrete media 0.84. The study of dominance in wood media by 0.41, iron media 0.48, and concrete media 0.32 showed that dominance is poor.

High-yielding varieties are used as one of the technologies to increase rice productivity in Indonesia. Varieties, however, invite the arrival of arthropod during their growing phase. One of the method to manage arthropods during the growing stage is the use of high-yielding varieties. In this trial, IR-64, Ciherang, Situ Bagendit, Mekongga and Mixed Varieties were used. The mixed variety is a combination of IR-64, Ciherang, Situ Bagendit and Mekongga. These rice varieties are the most common varieties used by farmers in Bantul Regency. To collect arthropods, the traps used were sweep net, yellow sticky and pitfall traps. The purpose of this study was to determine arthropod’s diversity, evenness and dominance in different rice plant varieties in one planting season. The study was conducted in the village of Wijirejo, Pandak, Bantul, Yogyakarta. The observations were conducted in the evening between 16.00–18.00 p.m., with the interval of twice a week for 5 observations. Arthropods were identified up to the family level. This research resulted in the diversity index (Shannon-Winner) of 1.97–2.82 which is categorized as medium, the evenness index of 0.61–0.71, categorized as medium and the dominance index of 0.10–0.22, categorized as lower level. The ecosystemof the research area was unstable in diversity, evenness, and dominance due to the transition process, and it took quite some times to stabilize the rice fields. Therefore, a more thorough research is still necessary, especially for the ricegrowing season to follow.
