Research background: The patients? confidence in physicians, as well as in healthcare personnel in general, is an important determinant of the patients? satisfaction and their loyalty. The patients? confidence as well as their overall satisfaction is influenced by many determinants, which are in a causal relation. Purpose of the article: The main aim of the study is to find out which socio-demographic factors influence the confidence of inpatients in physicians, nurses, other medical personnel, as well as in the treatment as such. The inpatients´ confidence is considered as an important dimension of the inpatients? satisfaction. Methods: The questionnaire consists of 112 structured and semi-structured sur-vey questions. It was inspired by the HCAHPS survey. The questionnaire was distributed both on-line and in paper form in the Czech Republic. The dataset consists of 1,479 observations (899 females and 580 males). The descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression were used to process all data. Findings & value added: The research revealed significant differences in the confidence of inpatients in physicians in relation to the physicians? communication styles regarding the inpatient?s gender. Males are more tolerant to the communication styles of physicians than women. There exists a relatively strong linear relationship between confidence in physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals, and confidence in a treatment. Also, it was determined that in cases when a physician talks about an inpatient as if she/he is not there, the patient?s confidence in the medical personnel is reduced by 65%. Overall confidence in medical personnel is also gender biased i.e., in 87% of cases, women are more likely to have a higher confidence in medical personnel than men. The age of inpatients is not statistically significant and its impact on a confidence in medical personnel is neglectable.

The purpose of this paper is to understand how members of beekeeping associations, with long-standing sustainable traditions and products with registered geographical origins, perceive the investments in research and development (R&D) and new technological adoptions. By means of a binary logistic regression, the socio-demographic factors of the members of beekeeping associations predicting the investments in R&D and new technological adoptions were analyzed. Our findings point out that higher level of education and professional beekeeping experience predicts the willingness of investing in research and development. The higher level of education positively influences the willingness to hire professional consultants or bodies for the research and development of beekeeping practices. Serbian female beekeepers, beekeepers aged more than 41 years and professionally engaged beekeepers are more likely to admit that they need support of scientific and research institutions in the further development of beekeeping practices. A higher education has been shown to significantly predict the value added hive products due to new technology adoption. There is also a positive influence of the education level on new technology adoption.

Much has been written about the patient experience, but there is little information about experiences of providers as patients. Since lay patients and providers have differing perspectives and expectations, it is important to identify those elements shared by those in each group and those that diverge. This study identified experiences of nurses as being a patient or a family caregiver of a patient as well as identified assessments of the healthcare system by nurses. An exploratory study using a self-administered electronic questionnaire with a group of registered nurses was conducted. Assessments of the system by responders were positive when addressing quality of care, interactions among healthcare personnel, and interactions with patients. However, when discussing their experiences as patient, nurses reported they encountered problems with coordination of care, responses of medical personnel, attention to details of care, and responses to their attempts to become more involved. Results confirm issues raised by patients who are not medical experts in patient satisfaction studies. Adding a professional perspective highlights where problems with the healthcare system lie.

Effective medical communication is an extremely important aspect of patient-centered medicine. It allows for achieving better treatment outcomes and is of key importance in the case of patients experiencing mental problems. Research clearly indicates that the quality of communication is a fundamental element of medical services, which not only affects patient satisfaction, but can also reduce the risk of burnout among staff who have contact with patients. A sense of mutual understanding translates into trust and contributes to more conscientious adherence to medical recommendations. Considering the cooperation of all medical and non-medical personnel, high-quality communication reduces the risk of tensions and conflicts, as well as the number of complaints reported by patients. Both research findings and our own experience show that individuals with mental disorders often feel misunderstood, stigmatised, or ignored by healthcare personnel. Based on the above assumptions, the experts from Józef Babiński Specialist Hospital in Kraków developed their own program entitled “Communication in the Treatment Process.” It was implemented in 2018 by the Ministry of Health among over 2,500 professionals in the Małopolskie and Podkarpackie provinces. The aim of the project was to improve the communication skills of medical and non-medical personnel in the context of communication with patients with mental disorders. The paper describes in detail the theoretical background, the goals, and the course of the program.

Lean refers to the reduction of non-value added activities in industries. It focuses on seven types of lean waste. The significant challenge is to identify and reduce the major lean waste. With this objective, a survey was conducted in an international exhibition in India using a questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) software template to check consistency. Finding consistent results obtained in AHP satisfactory, ranking was carried out to find the major lean waste using fuzzy AHP. After the identification of the major lean waste, the major contributing factors for the waste were ranked using the Binary Logistic Regression (BLR). These contributing factors were further investigated for the waste elimination in the automobile component manufacturing industries.

The homogeneity of the wall thickness (distribution) is considered to be the most critical parameter in the quality assessment of a thermoformed product. Numerous previous studies have characterized the thickness distribution by means of manual discrete tactile measurements. Such approach is slow, operator dependent and only gives results on specific points of the final product, resulting in complicated judgements on the causes of the thinning of the polymer sheet. This work presents a methodology to use digital image correlation (DIC) for on-line, full field wall thickness measurements of thick gauge thermoformed parts during and after thermoforming. Such technique offers the following advantages. Firstly, it provides the user with thickness results over a complete area instead of a discrete measuring point. Secondly, it allows on-line measurements so that a better insight can be obtained in the deformation mechanisms during the forming process. Finally, a correlation is made between each undeformed point in the base image and the same point in the deformed images during thermoforming, resulting in a full-field strain image where intermediate sheet thinning can be calculated. This makes it easier to determine a causal relation between thermoforming parameters and final thickness distribution of the product.

The identification of low motor proficiency in children of preschool age allows intervention programs to be proposed, to minimize the losses in school activities, social relationships and Physical Education classes. Thus, identifying the factors underlying low motor performance is essential, in an attempt to reduce possible motor disorders. The objective of this study was to investigate the association between motor performance, cognitive maturity and sociodemographic aspects in preschool children from Paraná. The participants were 357 preschoolers from 3,5 years to 5 years. The Columbia Mental Maturity Scale, Movement Assessment Battery for Children-2 test and a sociodemographic data sheet were used. For statistical analysis, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Friedman (Wilcoxon) and binary logistic regression tests (p<0.05) were used. There was a high prevalence of low motor proficiency (16.8%), cognitive maturity (CM) on average age (67.2%) and socioeconomic level >R$1,500, 00 (45.5%). A significant association was observed between higher CM and low motor proficiency, indicating the upper CM as a protective factor for low motor proficiency (OR 0.513 IC 95% 0,266-1,000). The socio-demographic factors were not intervening in the motor performance (MP). It was concluded that the upper CM in children in early childhood acts as a protective factor for the low motor proficiency and that the socio-demographic factors of the family were not associated with MP and the CM of the preschoolers.

Globally 35 million people were living with HIV in 2013 whereas around 78 millionpeople have been infected since the start of the epidemic and 39 million people have died ofAIDS- related illness. Objectives: To examine the factors associated with HIV/AIDS awareness ofever married men and women age 15-49. Design: The secondary data sets are used of Pakistandemographic and health survey (PDHS) of ever married men and women with sample size 3134and 13558. Period: PDHS 2012-13. Setting: The national institute of population studies done thissurvey with the technical support from ICF International and Pakistan bureau of statistics and theUSAID supported the financially. Methods: Bivariate and binary logistic regression analysis hasbeen carried out to evaluate the significant socio demographic factors. Results: Every 7 out of10 ever married men have heard about AIDS, while the situation is much critical for ever marriedwomen, 6 out of 10 have not heard about HIV/AIDS. Generally finding revealed that almost bothof the respondents have misconception regarding HIV/AIDS transmission. Two binary logisticregression models are executed one for ever married man and other for ever married women. Two models revealed that early age groups have less knowledge about HIV/AIDS; urban hasmore knowledge compared to rural. Education level, media assess and wealth index have positiveassociation regarding to HIV/AIDS awareness. Conclusions: Socio-demographic aspects suchas age, education, place of residence and access to media TV, radio and newspaper, wealth indexand occupation are found to be significant varied systematically with the awareness of HIV/AIDS.These statistical outcomes will enhance the capability in disease management and control.

Background: Even though the neonatal, maternal and perinatal mortality is declining in our country, still the morbidity and mortality rate is very high. Further improvement is possible by increasing awareness and appropriate practices of mothers towards pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and essential newborn care. Objective of the study was to assess the knowledge of postnatal mothers regarding pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and newborn care. These feeding practices were assessed in postnatal mothers, using a structured questionnaire. Methods: Univariate analyses method [such as frequencies, percent distribution, means, and standard deviations (SD)] and Binary Logistic regression method was used for analysis of data with help of analyse-it and SPSS software. Results: Knowledge regarding pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care: Mean percentage obtained was 68.128% (SD of 18.15). 100% was obtained by only 7 mothers (2.3% of total). Knowledge regarding essential newborn care: Mean percentage obtained was 59.8% (SD of 19.6). 100% was obtained by only 15 mothers (5% of total). A total of 71 mothers failed, constituting 23.7% of total. Education status and parity status both were significantly associated with maternal knowledge regarding pregnancy and postpartum but they do not predict the outcome very well. Conclusions: Postnatal mothers had inadequate knowledge on pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and newborn care. Therefore educational intervention at multiple levels is required during the period of antenatal, and postnatal visits. Secondly socio-demographic factors- educational status and parity status of postnatal mothers were not associated with maternal knowledge.

In this chapter, we elaborate on effects of recently induced digitalization of teaching, and consequently on innovative learning. A series of workshops on using digital tools in the teaching process—performed by teachers for teachers—was used to conduct a two-level analysis on how digitally supported teaching is performed. In the first level, a teachers Delphi analysis was performed, in the second level, we observed teacher performance in the role of learners, examining the user experience of multiple digitally supported teaching technologies. The study reveals that only some elements of innovative learning, i.e. understanding, commenting and providing feedback, modifying the environment and upgrading the learning content were positively influenced by digital technology. The proposed text can provide value-added for teachers in preparing their on-site and on-line courses; furthermore, it provides educational organization backgrounds on how to deliver adequate support for their staff, and finally: it gives learners an insight into how to participate in an innovative course.
