This article contributes to a better understanding of patterns of social support in relation to digital inequalities. Based on an extensive qualitative study, the diversity of support networks and supports seeking patterns are unveiled. A typology of six patterns of help-seeking is presented and described: the support-deprived, the community-supported, the supported through substitution, the network-supported, the vicarious learners, and the self-supported. The article also critically engages with the often unnuanced academic literature on social support. The research and the typology reveal that the quality of support, as well as the availability of potential or actual support, is not only influenced by socio-economic factors. Rather, the strength of the relationship and the level of intimacy between individuals is an important predictor of support-seeking. As such, this article shows that mechanisms of in/exclusion are highly social, as they entail a diversity of formal and informal support-seeking patterns, which in turn have an important influence on the adoption and use of digital media. The article argues that understanding such mechanisms is rooted in reconciling micro-level interactions to macro-level patterns of inequalities. To show the specificity of social support within digital inequalities research, and to demarcate the concept from definitions of other academic disciplines, the concept of social support for digital inclusion is introduced. It is defined as the aid (emotional, instrumental, and informational) that an individual receives from his/her network in his/her use of digital technologies.

The system method of hierarchical decomposition and subsequent composition is widely used in practice. However, decomposition does not simplify, but even complicates the analysis of quality, since it is necessary to investigate, in addition to the object itself, all the selected subsystems and elements, which as integral patterns are characterized by their properties and connections. To ensure the required quality of products, it is necessary to consider and control not only the properties of the result (element, subsystem, product), but also all processes that form quality characteristics.

The digitalisation process implies many benefits for its active participants. However, some companies, individuals and social groups are excluded from this process, which leads to digital inequalities. The aim of the article is to evaluate Polish regions (NUTS 2) in terms of their digital inclusion and to indicate the importance of EU funds in supporting digital inclusion in Poland. It is claimed that the role of external financial support from EU funds is important in promoting digital inclusion in Polish regions. Support for ICT development is becoming very important in Poland and its regions. In the perspective of 2014–2020, an operational programme dedicated to promoting the development and use of ICT was developed: Digital Poland 2014–2020 Operational Programme. Also within the framework of regional operational programmes implemented in the regions of Poland, including Silesia, priorities or undertakings related to the support for ICT development were identified. This requires the implementation of a wide range of projects, from the improvement of access to the Internet, through the improvement of accessibility and quality of public e-services, to further development of digital competences. Without prompt actions in this regard, the problem of digital exclusion in Poland and its regions will further intensify.

Introduction: Back school consists in an educational program aimed at preventing back pain and rehabilitating individuals with degenerative disorders. Objective: To evaluate the effects of back school components (education and/or exercise therapy) in relieving pain and improving quality of life in patients with chronic back pain. Method: Forty-one patients were randomized and allocated into four groups: (i) a back school group (educational lessons and physical exercise); (ii) an educational lessons group; (iii) a physical exercise group and (iv) a waiting list control group. Patients were evaluated before and after treatment with a visual analogue scale, a short form quality-of-life questionnaire, a Roland Morris disability questionnaire and a finger-floor distance test. Results: The back school group showed significant reduction in scores in the visual analogue scale and the Roland Morris disability questionnaire and an increase in the short-form quality of life questionnaire. Conclusion: The effectiveness of back school programs in chronic back pain patients seems to be due to the physical exercise component and not on account of the educational lessons.

The lack of human resources and government socialization of the community in the area related to Early Childhood Education are feared to have an impact on the level of community participation in Early Childhood Education, whereas that will be able to form quality children; children grow according to the stages so they will be ready to enter further education. This study aims to determine community participation and supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of the PAUD Al-Furqon program in Weninggalih Sindangkerta Village. The method that I use in this research is Descriptive Analysis Method with qualitative approach. The results of this study indicate that the public participation in Early Childhood Education shows quite encouraging levels. This was driven by a high understanding of the importance of implementing early education. Their participations are shown in the form of friendship with PAUD Al Furqon actively, liaison with PAUD institutions and home, being a supporter of Al Furqon PAUD, actively involved with educators and PAUD managers and supporters of educational goals, as well as beneficiaries of education. Other forms include being a motivator for parents, contributing various resources, and participating in improving the quality of PAUD Al Furqon.
