Work adjustment and personality factors were measured on 27 mentally retarded adults living in a halfway house. Successful employment ( n = 21) was related to conscientiousness, assertiveness, self-sufficiency, and imaginativeness as personality variables and die attitudinal variables of cooperativeness, punctuality, completing work on time, attendance, and quality of work. It appears that both personality and attitudinal variables have a major impact upon the successful employment of retarded persons. These factors may be quite independent of specific job skills.

The purpose of the present study is to investigate the personality characteristics of Greek female nursery school teachers, as there are no relevent available data. A Greek standardized version of the 16 Personality Factors (16-PF) was used. Participants were 118 nursery teachers. Comparisons with the general population were conducted with onesampleT-test SPSS command. Results showed that our sample differed considerably along all the personality variables. Nursery school teachers appear to be people oriented, anxious, dependent and introvert individuals with low self-control and adjustment skills, and also poor leading abilities. Their personality profile is stress prone. Possible implications are discussed.

This paper examined the concept of negotiation and types of negotiation, namely distributive and integrative. It pondered on why people fail to keep to negotiation rules. Thomas Hobbes state of nature and Machiavelli’s concept of the human relationship used to explain this phenomenon. Furthermore, the article argues that this disposition is a consequence of people’s perception of negotiation as a game where one party’s gain is the other party’s loss. The significance of game theory in the negotiation is therefore emphasised. Personality factors were considered important in the negotiation process. The impact of the big-five personality on the negotiation situation was highlighted. Unethical practices could make the negotiation process difficult, thereby affecting the quality of decision reached during negotiation. The study concludes by suggesting some ways of succeeding in negotiation.

Students from programme of Chemistry Analysis Technologies implement three course works during their three years studies in Vilnius College of Higher Education, Department of Chemistry. Analysis of the last few years shows students non-productivity in usage of time for consultations with mentors fruitfully. Students can hardly formulate their thoughts, to cite different literature, analyze and summarize different conclusions. Especially they lack competencies in taking concrete decisions. So naturally it raises the question – what causes such incompetence to systemize, analyze and summaries appropriate information to prepare final work successfully. Within implemented research was attained to find out the main reasons that cause lack of competences in preparing the final course work. There are seen clear tendency that most of students are very confident about their abilities to work independently and keep them self as competent. Lecturers’ positions are opposite – they tend to say that quality of work depends on not only on methodical literature, their abilities, independent work, but largely depends on masters advices. There are shown different positions of student and lecturers in training and evaluation of different parts of course work, and points to confrontation of different opinions in this article. All this leads towards finding the right way to promote students’ self-sufficiency and work efficiency in their studies. Key words: Course work, final work, sufficiency, Competency.
