Abstract Based on the H-M model, the compensation incentive model is constructed under the inter-task cost function. The best compensation incentive contract is constructed by solving the incentive model, and the incentive characteristics are analysed. The results show that the best incentive intensity decreases as the subject service selectivity increases. The higher incentive intensity of university managers for specific tasks, the lower efforts of subject librarians for another specific task. Moreover, when the tasks are substituted for each other, the profit-sharing ratios corresponding to different tasks are complementary. Finally, we establish the econometric empirical models to test these results.

Based on the H-M model, the optimal incentive model under competition was constructed, the best incentive system was constructed by solving the model, and its incentive characteristics are analyzed. Based on the theory of econometrics, an empirical model of incentive system was constructed, and the correlation and significance between the main core variables and incentive intensity are empirically tested. The results show that competition has a significant effect and positive effect on incentive level. Incentive level has a non-linear correlation with service cost and risk preference, within a certain range, the best incentive level is negatively related to them.

The book under review is a compilation of the author's articles and lectures that highlight the prominent developments in the literature on the subject of Islamic banking and inform the reader of the current state of debate on it. One of the earliest and main contributors to this topic is the author himself. The focus of this review will mainly be on "Economics of Profit-Sharing", which is the title of the fourth chapter of the book and is among his latest contributions. This chapter is a significant contribution as it is the first attempt to formalise the concept of profit sharing into an analytical model and, therefore, demands closer scrutiny. However, in the remaining chapters of the book, the author has drawn attention to some of the fine points made in the literature on this topic. Since some of these points appear to be controversial to me, I will briefly discuss them before moving on to the analytical chapter of the book.

We believe that main parameters of professional thinking are: the conceptual development of professional reality (as a separate socio-cultural area of activities and relationships embodied in the objectives, actions, functions of profession) and the adequacy of planning and regulation of actions in professional situations. The parameters of the professional thinking specify types of professionals. We investigated the parameters of professional thinking and the types of professionals through analysis of speech (dialogues, descriptions of professional activities, etc.) of people of different professions (n = 224) based on the ideas of A. R. Luria: (1) ‘The real use of the word <...> is always the process of selecting the desired meaning from the pop-up alternatives, with the allocation of some actual system ties and inhibition of other systems of relations, not relevant to this problem’; (2) the meaning of the word depends on the specific task facing the subject and situation in which the word is used. The units of meaning were: understanding of structural and dynamic sides of the professional reality; way of substantiation actions in professional situations. The data allowed to determine three types of professionals. (1) ‘Expert’: there is a complete and profound reflection of professional reality in the speech combined with the exact description of planned actions. (2) ‘Inept maven’: understands the professional activity and its components, but may not accurately describe the actions. (3) ‘Empirical practician’: can describe the correct actions, but descriptions are based on experience and stereotypes. Keywords: professional speech, professional thinking, professional reality, types of professionals

Murray’s law has been the subject of continual investigation since its derivation in 1926. In his original work Murray solved a simple analytical optimization problem to minimize power requirements, balancing flow rate and metabolic function to find the optimal relationship between the radius of a parent and daughter vessel in a bifurcation along with the bifurcation angle. The cost function used in his work was the sum of a pressure loss term and a metabolic cost term. Minimizing this cost function, Murray derived the following relationship between parent and daughter vessels, rpα=rd1α+rd2α and an angle between the branches of 37.5°.

The subject of this article is the models of turbulence based on introduction of neural network components into the widespread standard semi-empirical models. It is stated that such technique allows achieving significant acceleration of calculation while maintaining sufficient accuracy and stability, by training neural network components based on the data acquires with the use of fairly accurate and advanced models, as well as replacing and complementing separate fragments of the initial models with such components. An overview is give on the existing classical approaches towards modeling of turbulence, which allows determining the V2-F model suggested by Durbin as one of the most advanced, and thereby promising, with regards to subsequent neural network modifications. The author offers the new model of turbulence based on K-W models paired with a neural network component trained in accordance with the V2-F Durbin model. All necessary ratios are provided. The properties of the obtained model are examined in terms of the numerical experiment on the flow over of a single obstacle. The results are compared with data acquired from other semi-empirical models (K-E, K-W), as well as via direct neural network model. It is demonstrated that the proposed model, with less computational labor output in comparison with other models (excluding direct neural network, which, however, is less accurate), provides high precision close to precision of the Durbin model.

A review of the different mathematical methodologies for calculating energy efficiency in boilers was carried out in this work, considering both the methods included in standards and the proposals and applications published in research works. The classification was delimited in analytical methods, mechanistic modeling, and empirical modeling; moreover, the main equations for each of the methodologies are presented, which allows building a compilation that is expected to be useful for a first approach to the subject. It is displayed that those mechanistic models are used to evaluate subsystems or specific cases that require a high level of detail, while analytical models are used to make a first approximation to the systems described, and empirical models stand out in terms of their use at the industrial level if there is access to a starting database to adjust them.
