Abstract This paper presents the methodology and research results of monitoring of compressed air starting system of 3AL25/30 engine placed in Maritime Engineering Faculty of Gdynia Maritime University. Research was carried out using a set of acoustic emission Vallen System. Analysis of recorded parameters revealed leakage in the installation – damage of one of the valves. The test results indicate that the AE method can be useful for monitoring the technical condition of pressure systems of engines and devices in a ship's engine room during normal operation as an on-line system.

A new technique capable of on-line generating SO2+CO2+N2 shielding gas via thermal chemical reaction between compressed air and a mixture of C and S powder was introduced in the present study. The test results in both laboratory and foundry indicate that the on-line generated gas is able to provide effective protection to Mg melting bath up to 730 oC as SF6+N2 shielding gas does, while its running cost is 30% less than of the latter.

The article contains a finite element modeling of the stress-strain state of metal constructions of the foreign manufactured ships loader’s engine room, located in the seaport of Yuzhny’s town under the jibs lifting and lowering drive vibration source. The model have been developed taking into account the technical condition of the structure, which were determined after visual and instrumental examination. Have been researched the rotating structures of jibs lifting and lowering drive, means of ensuring smooth start and soft stop of the drive, have been increased the specific drive imperfections. Have been done the cinematic and dynamic calculations on a subject of definition of vibration parameters of rotation components of drive (electric motor, spur gear, gear, brace and rope drums). Have been offered the effective methods of experimental research, which including the scheme of installations of sensors at the structure of support frame of engine room, experimental measurements of vibration characteristics (vibration, amplitude, vibration velocity, vibration acceleration) and its mathematical processing. Have been done the comparison of the theoretical forced vibrations frequency of structural units of ships loader with experimentally determined data and localization of the most dangerous source of vibration. Have been revealed the main reason of excess vibration the structure of ships loader which are reduced rigidity of drive support frame which has been damaged from corrosion and consequently, resonance of rotational drive components with natural oscillations of ships loader structures. Have been developed the method of strengthening of structures of engine room, which have been damaged from corrosion during long term operation for the reduction of vibration intensity and for the further normal operation.

It is important to explore the data type of test content and the comparative data by the realization of automation in data migration process based on the basic idea of ETL technology. It is in order to work efficiently than complete data, improve work efficiency and the coverage of test data which free the human from a single repetitive labor in the business intelligence project. Quality data is an important prerequisite for the success of on-line system, and also a powerful guarantee stable operation of the system in the future. The design of the comparative data in automated implementation is provide an important guarantee for the normal operation of the system.

Determining the functional development and dominant competitive strategy in microbial community enrichments is complicated by the extensive measurement campaigns required for off-line system analysis. This study demonstrates that detailed system characterization of aerobic pulse fed enrichments can be established using on-line measurements combined with automated data analysis. By incorporating the physicochemical processes in on-line data processing with a Particle Filter and kinetic process model, an accurate reconstruction of the dominant biological rates can be made. We hereby can differentiate between storage compound production and biomass growth in sequencing batch bioreactors. The method proposed allows for close monitoring of changes in functional behavior of long-running enrichment cultures, without the need for off-line samples, therewith enabling the identification of new insights in process dynamics with a minimal experimental effort. Even though a specific example application of the method proposed is described here, the approach can readily be extended to a wide range of dynamic experimental systems that can be characterized based on on-line measurements.

Accidents of icing on catenary have great impacts on normal operation of trains. An on-line anti-icing technology used static var generator (SVG) for catenary was proposed, which can prevent icing formation without interrupting trains normal operation. The heat balance equations for catenary were solved, whose results were compared with data provided by TB/T 3111 and testing show the equation was correct. The simulation model based on Matlab was bulit , whose results and analysis show the correctness of the method.

The paper presents the possibilities of using vibroacoustic methods in the study of the technical condition of designed multimedia mobile scenes. In particular, the possibility of implementing modal analysis methods in modelling and diagnostic research process has been presented. The use of virtual methods enables diagnostic tests both at the design stage and at the stage of normal operation, whereas modal methods help to explain the nature of the work of the element under investigation.

The vibration can influence the running of devices in the engine room. It is necessary to monitor the vibration state of all running machineries. Through integrating the Bluetooth technology into the common vibration sensor, a wireless on-line vibration monitoring system is designed to monitor all devices. It will be helpful to avoid severe failure and improve the cruising ability.
