AbstractIn this paper, we consider a charged rotating black hole in three dimensions with a scalar charge, and discuss thermodynamics quantities. We find effects of the black hole parameters on the temperature, entropy, free energy, total energy and specific heat. We also investigate the stability of the black hole and study phase transition. We consider the first law of thermodynamics and find that satisfied.

Abstract We provide a way of decoupling the first law of thermodynamics in two sectors : the standard first law of thermodynamics and the quasi first law of thermodynamics. It is showed that both sectors share the same thermodynamics volume and the same entropy. However, the total thermodynamics pressure, the total temperature and the total local energy correspond to a simple sum of the thermodynamics contributions of each sector. On the other hand, turning on the coupling constant $$\alpha $$α, the total energy, given by the Noether charge, increases proportionally to this constant. Furthermore, it is showed a simple example, where, there is a phase transition between stable/unstable black hole, and, due to the application of the decoupling, it is possible to determinate that the cause of this phase transition is the behavior of the temperature at the quasi sector.

Due to thermal radiation process, the temperature of the Schwarzschild black hole diverges at the time the black hole evaporates, while it is natural to expect a vanishing temperature, since the spacetime geometry becomes Minkowskian whose intrinsic temperature is identically zero. Recently, a nonsingular temperature has been proposed in this research line, which follows the Hawking temperature for the large black hole system, at the same time becomes null in the limiting case the black hole mass tends to zero. In this paper, the stability and the phase transition of the quantum-corrected Schwarzschild black hole are investigated based on this modified temperature. For that, the thermodynamic quantities like the local temperature, the heat capacity, and the off-shell free energy are calculated. The results show that the free energy of the black hole follows the characteristic swallow-tail behavior, implying the existence of an unstable intermediate black hole state quickly decaying into the stable small or large black hole.

In this paper, we have studied thermodynamics of a black hole in massive gravity in the canonical ensemble. The massive gravity theory in consideration here has a massive graviton due to Lorentz symmetry breaking. The black hole studied here has a scalar charge due to the massive graviton and is asymptotically anti-de Sitter (AdS). We have computed various thermodynamical quantities such as temperature, specific heat and free energy. Both the local and global stability of the black hole are studied by observing the behavior of the specific heat and the free energy. We have observed that there is a first-order phase transition between small (SBH) and large black hole (LBH) for a certain range of the scalar charge. This phase transition is similar to the liquid/gas phase transition at constant temperature for a van der Waals fluid. The coexistence curves for the SBH and LBH branches are also discussed in detail.

In this paper, we consider rotating black hole in three dimensions with a scalar charge and discuss about the jet-quenching parameter. We find that the effect of scalar charge is decreasing and rotation parameter is increasing the value of the jet-quenching parameter.

A new four-dimensional black hole solution of Einstein-Born-Infeld-Yang-Mills theory is constructed; several degenerated forms of the black hole solution are presented. The related thermodynamical quantities are calculated, with which the first law of thermodynamics is checked to be satisfied. Identifying the cosmological constant as pressure of the system, the phase transition behaviors of the black hole in the extended phase space are studied.

In this paper, we investigate the phase transition of Bardeen black hole for the first time. First, we calculate thermodynamic quantities and correct the misuse of formula in former literature. Second, we investigate in detail the behavior of specific heat. We not only discuss the influence of parameter on phase transition, but also show the three-dimensional behavior of the specific heat. It is shown that phase transition takes place from a locally unstable large black hole to a locally stable small black hole. It is also shown that the location of phase transition point is proportional to the charge. Meanwhile, we study the behavior of the inverse of the isothermal compressibility and find that it diverges at the phase transition point. Thirdly, we build up geometrothermodynamics to examine the phase transition structure. It is shown that Legendre invariant thermodynamic scalar curvature diverges exactly where the specific heat diverges, which leads to the conclusion that the Legendre invariant metrics can correctly produce the behavior of the phase transition structure. Furthermore, to gain a thorough understanding of critical behavior, we calculate the relevant critical exponents and examine the scaling laws. It is shown that they are in agreement with the scaling laws.

In this paper, we consider a charged black hole in three dimensions with a scalar charge and discuss energy loss of a heavy particle moving near the black hole horizon. This analysis is useful when anti-de Sitter space – conformal field theory correspondence is applied. We find that an electric charge of a black hole increases the drag force but a scalar charge decreases it.

In this paper, we take cosmological constant as a thermodynamical pressure and its conjugate quantity as a thermodynamical volume. This expression helps us to investigate the phase transition and holographic heat engine. So, in order to have Van der Waals fluid behavior in Horava–Lifshitz (HL) black hole, we modified the solution of such black hole with some cosmology ansatz. Also from holographic heat engine, we obtain Carnot efficiency for the HL black hole. The phase transition of the system lead us to investigate the stability condition for the corresponding black hole. In that case, we show that the stability exist only in special region of black hole.
