A professional tour guide is regarded as a front-liner of the tourism and the ambassador of his/her country. Therefore, the performace of a tour guide is very important as a quality assurance of services in order to fulfill the tourists’ satisfaction.  One of the important things to satisfy the tourists is through mastering the language, because if the tour guide speaks the language fluently and accurately, the commucation will be well maintained and all information can be successfully delivered. In this case, mastering Russian language, which is categorized into one of the latest foreign languages in the tourism business of Bali, is deemly needed by the Russian tourists in order to get sufficient information about the culture of the indigenous community. This study aimes at investigating the mastery level of the tour guide’s Russian language related to the struggle of symbolic capital between foreign representatives and local tour guides. By applying a descriptive qualitative research, the data was collected through observation, interview, and document review. The theory used to undertake this study is Bourdieu’s social practice theory which involves capital, habitus, and field. The data that has been classified is analyzed by qualitative descriptive method with an inductive-metodological paradigm which is seting up the discussion from particular principles to the general in order to obtain a conclusion. The result of data analys is presented by formal and informal method. The study reveals that the mastery of Russian language for a professional tour guide has been proven to compete with foreign tour guides in preserving the Balinese culture and empowering local community in tourism participation. This article contributes towards debates concerning media tourism and tour guiding by using Pierre Bourdieu’s arguments regarding field and capital to analyse performed tour guide identities on BBC Worldwide’s Doctor Who Experience Walking Tour in Cardiff Bay. The article pursues three core arguments: first, a Bourdieusian framework provides an enhanced understanding of the insecure positions that tour guides occupy in what is referred to throughout as the tourism field; second, the divergent pulls between heteronomous and autonomous poles which position tour guides are magnified in officially-located media tours because of the presence of branding and theming discourses; third, drawing upon empirical data from the Doctor Who tour, the symbolic capital of official guides involves demonstrations of what is named tourism-cultural capital, but such displays do not result in an increase in individualised status as any accrued capital transfers to the institutional level.

The growth of new tour and travel agents in Bali targeting the tourist market from Germany has created intense competition among travel bureaus. This causes a decrease in the number of German tourists who use the services of a travel agency PT. NDBT. The purpose of this study was to analyze the existential struggle that occurred at PT NDBT conducted by German-speaking guides. The research problems are 1) how the hegemony and counter hegemony that occurred in PT. NDBT, the factors causing and the implications for the PT NDBT. This study uses a qualitative method. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The theory used is the theory of hegemony, social practice theory and the theory of communicative action in an eclectic manner. The results showed that the existential struggle carried out by German guides on the corporate hegemony practice of PT. NDBT against guides as a coordinated party is a counter hegemony. Supporting factors for the German-speaking touristic licensing struggle is the decline in the number of German tourists using PT.NDBT services in Bali. As a result, the implication posed by the existential struggle is the desire to stimulate themselves in carrying out scouting work. In addition, guides must also increase knowledge of the German language and knowledge of the field of guidance. Existential struggle also has implications for the meaning of communication for fellow German tour guides. Keywords: existential struggle, German tour guides, tourists, Germany, travel agency.

Currently, the activities of the Semarapura Kaja community are not optimizing due to the Covid-19 pandemic which is an obstacle to working as usual, one of which is the people in Klungkung Regency. The problem faced by the Semarapura Kaja community, namely the lack of English language skills among the youth of Semarapura Kaja village in the field of tourism as a tour guide. Lack of training or English teaching facilities both in terms of socialization and field practice, the solution offered and the purpose of holding community service activities is to carry out English training partnership program activities for tour guides in Semarapura Kaja Village to promote the tourist areas / services offered. The method used in this research is qualitative research through the interview stage to find out partner problems. Sources of data used in this study are primary data by conducting field observations to determine the problems faced by the local community. The results show that there is an increase in understanding the use of English for tour guides and being able to describe directions or tourist attractions in English.

Local community participation in managing of local industry is important to tourism development in Sentani City, Jayapura Regency, Papua. The purpose of this study is to determine the participation of local community in the tourism industry entrepreneurship in Sentani City. The informant determination technique used in this research was purposive technique and the data analyze technique used in research was qualitative descriptive. The study result showed that local people in Sentani, have impulsive participation in tourist attraction business, waterpark, rent boats, and handycraft business. Coersive participation in rent car business, tour and travel, restaurant, and accommodation business. Induced participation in tour guide business.

Bali has an attractive spot for South Korean tourists who are traveling to see their beautiful sceneries. Based on visitor statistics report as a result, the number of South Korean tourists has decreased significantly, and make an impact to tour guides in Bali. Tour guide becomes one of important profession to promote Bali as a tourist destination. The objectives of this research are to recognize a Korean tour guide’s attitude towards South Korean tourists in Bali and the motivation that makes them survived in this industry. This research applies a qualitative descriptive analysis method with Likert scales. Its samples have chosen by purposive sampling with the amount of 100 tour guides in Bali. Data collection techniques are conducted using observation, questionnaires, interviews, literature studies, and documentation. The results of the research are divided into three indicators namely, cognitive, affective, conative and it shows from attitude variable, the indicator dominates with very agree statement is few of South Korea tourists who visit Bali with score 4.11. Meanwhile, in motivation variable are divided into two indicators namely pull and push factor. The results are tour guides becomes an activity to support their family is a pull factor and there is job opportunity become a tour guide is a push factor indicator.

Guiding is a branch of oral communication. In oral communication, guiding can be included as productive skill. English guiding is one of the academic lessons in the fourth semester. Being a tour guide is a very important job in tourism part. In many cases, the tour guide is a traveller's first impression of a foreign country. In other cases a tour guide may be responsible for teaching tourists about the culture and sites in a city or town. Improving students’ communicative skill is the goal of teaching English guiding, because the student can express themselves and know how to use language well. In the real situation in teaching guide process, lecturer cannot escape from reality. It occurs because there are some problems faced by the lecture and the student. The lecturer cannot make student pay attention; make the students’ lack of creativity in making interactive guiding topics, and engagement in whole teaching learning process. This research applied photovoice as a technique to increase the student’s ability in speaking English guiding. Photovoice is suitable technique in teaching speaking skill in English guiding because it gives student chance to communicate with different context and different social by photo as a learning media. This reviews were taken from Beverly Palibroda (2009) Photovoice implementation and Speaking Assessment from Brown Lavinson (2004). This research was conducted by three cycles such as: pre-test, cycle I and cycle II. In composing this research the writer used qualitative descriptive method by classroom action research (CAR).             The result of this research showed that the mean score in pre-test before implementing Photovoice clearly showed that the ability of the subject under study was relatively “ fairly satisfactory ” in the level of mastery of speaking rubric. There were increasing in cycle I after implementing Photovoice technique. The result of the data analysis of the reflection score in cycle I showed increasing the mean score of 7.11 It was higher than the result of pre-test. In the cycle II, which the treatment was more intensive in order of weakness of the students had been known. The result of the data anaysis of reflection or post-test in cycle II that the mean score was 8.18. The different between mean score in cycle I and II was 1.07. It showed that the student’s speaking guiding ability improved after the researcher applied the photovoice thecnique to the students.
