Indonesia's retail business has grown with the increasing number of existing retailers. The presence of this retailer gave rise to private label products in Indonesia. Private labels are one of the retailer's strategies to be competitive in the market. The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of: Perceived Quality, Perceived Risk, Perceived Value, Perceived Price, Advertisement, Packing, Store Image, Social Influence, Consumers' Attitude to Purchase Intention Indomaret private label products in Jakarta. Data were obtained by distributing questionnaires to 350 respondents who met the criteria. Then the data were analyzed by classical assumption test, F test, t test, and analysis of the coefficient of determination. These results indicate that the Variable Perceived Quality, Perceived Risk, Perceived Value, Perceived Price, Advertisement, Packing, Store Image, Influence and Consumers' Attitude have a significant influence on Purchase Intention. Whereas Social Influence does not have a significant influence on Purchase Intention. Suggestion for research is that further research can be conducted with larger samples and different and more specific independent variables.

Previous study found supporting evidence of several factors affecting purchase intention in retail environment. However, there is still few that focus on the private label brand (PLB) despite of the importance of the products for the convinience store business. This study aims to find the direct effects of store image and service quality on brand image and purchase intention for a private label brand (PLB) in the context of convinience store. In addition, it also aims to confirm the factors that directly influence purchase intention of consumers. Two hundred and seven respondents were investigated using nonprobability sampling technique (purposive sampling). The analyses emploted Structural Equation Modelling techniques  and results indicate that store the image and private label brand image has a direct positive impact on purchase intention. The findings also confirmed that service quality has a direct positive effect on private label brand (PLB) image. Surprisingly, service quality has no direct influence on purchase intention, but have indirect influence through private label brand (PLB) image.

Purpose – Although they are increasingly offered by mass retailers in Asia, store brands (SBs) are not well understood in Asian countries. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how store and brand-level factors affect consumer usage of SBs in an Asian emerging country. Design/methodology/approach – A consumer survey, based on sample of 445 respondents, is undertaken in two competing modern retail chains in Vietnam. Structural equation modelling is used to test the research hypotheses. A latent interaction variable was created to test the moderation of store familiarity. Findings – Results indicate that SB price image, consumer attitude towards SBs and SB perceived value influence most strongly SB usage in Vietnam, whereas store image perceptions have no direct effect on it. Some investigated relationships differ across store formats. Overall, store familiarity has a weak direct effect on SB usage, but its interaction effects differ depending on store format. Research limitations/implications – The study is limited because it investigated only one Asian country and two retail chains. Besides, it did not account for effect of product categories on SB usage. Practical implications – Findings indicate that a positive store image is not sufficient to increase consumer usage of SBs in Vietnam. Retailers should be especially careful when designing retail outlets in this market, where consumers seem attached to traditions. Results highlight the importance of taking measures to develop more positive attitudes towards SBs. Also, store familiarity has a weak effect on SB purchase and should therefore be monitored more carefully by retail chains operating in Vietnam. Originality/value – This research is the first to address Vietnamese consumer usage of SBs. In contrast to their counterparts in other emerging countries, Vietnamese consumers do not strongly rely on store image when purchasing SBs. Their focus is rather on brand perceived value. These results challenge conventional wisdom that attributes a low utilitarian value orientation to Asian consumers.

This study aimed to determine the effect of trust, store image and perceived risk for purchase intentions online shop. The research was conducted by distributing the questionnaires as the primary data directly on site. The samples in this research were 100 people, Data analysis techniques used to answer the hypothesis is multiple regression. The results of this study indicate that: (1) trust has a significant positive effect on purchase intention online shop. This is evidenced by the results of t test statistics for trust variables obtained t count value of 2.273 greater than t table 1.985 with significance of 0.025 smaller than 0.05; (2) store image has a significant positive effect on purchase intention online shop. This is evidenced by statistical results t test for store image variables obtained t count value of 3.708 is greater than t table 1.985 with a significance of 0.000 smaller than 0.05; (3) perceived risk negatively affects the purchase intention of online shop. This is evidenced by the statistical test value of t arithmetic of -0.400 is smaller than t table 1.985 with significance of 0.690 greater than 0.05

PurposeThe purpose of the present study is to test that perceived risk is a multidimensional concept both when it is associated to the purchase of store brands and national brands and analyzes the effect of perceived risk on store brands proneness.Design/methodology/approachIn order to achieve its objective the paper used a confirmatory factor analysis to validate the proposed perceived risk scale and three regression analysis were carried out to evaluate the effect of perceived risk on store brands proneness.FindingsThe results of the study show significant differences between store and national brands and, on the other hand, it has been confirmed that these differences contribute to decrease store brand proneness, the latter being measured through three variables: actual store brands purchase, consumption intensity and future purchase intention.Originality/valuePrevious empirical research has focused primarily on the perceived risk associated with store brands individually. On the contrary, this paper considers the perceived risk difference between store and national brands, believing that the difference between brands is what will really make the consumer choose a store brand or a national brand. On the other hand, the present study will permit the evaluation of the effects of the evolution of store brands in Spain, effects that can be replicated in other Mediterranean countries.

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to develop and test a conceptual model of the moderating effect of customers’ value consciousness (CVC) on the relationship of store image (SI) with four dimensions of the perceived risk associated to the purchase of a store brand over a manufacturers’ brand, and the direct effect of those variables on the perceived unfairness of manufacturers’ brand prices. Design/methodology/approach – A mall-intercept survey of 600 shoppers in Colombia (South America) gathered data on their consumption experiences of a store brand and manufacturer’s brand across six product categories and two supermarket chains. Findings – Results suggest that SI exerts different influences on the four categories of perceived risk, the strength of which varies with value-consciousness. Perceptions of the price unfairness of manufacturers’ brands are attenuated by the financial and functional risk of buying store brands but increased by the social and psychological risk. Research limitations/implications – The findings may not be generally applicable to other shopping contexts or customers. The functional perspective on SI may mean that the results are not directly comparable with other studies adopting different perspectives. Practical implications – For retailers, the key implications concern awareness and management of customers’ perceptions of relative risks and the impact of value-consciousness on the use of SI as a heuristic decision-making cue. For manufacturers, they are the need to demonstrate clear product differentiation as a rationale for higher prices. Originality/value – This is the first study to encompass value-consciousness, SI, perceived risk and perceptions of price unfairness in a single field survey.
