Background:  Medication Therapy Management (MTM) is a vital resource in reducing medication nonadherence, yet many individuals who are eligible for MTM services are unaware of what MTM is and how to enroll.  Little is known about how to best educate patients on MTM services and its benefits. Objective: To determine the difference between in-person education community education versus brochure community education on MTM services on perceptions of and enrollment in MTM services. Methods:  A pre-post quasi experimental study, where patients were allocated to receive information about MTM through an educational brochure or an in-person education session and completed survey assessments pre- and post-intervention, was conducted at a federally-qualified health center.  Patients who were ages 18 years or older, MTM-eligible, and had received no prior MTM service were eligible to participate.  Changes in patient perceptions of and enrollment in MTM from pre- to post-intervention were assessed by survey instruments developed for this study. Results: A total of 35 patients (brochure=25, in-person=10) were recruited for this study.  Most participants (94.2%) either reported having never heard of MTM or not being sure if they had heard of MTM. There were no significant between-group differences on pre-survey questions or pre-post within-group changes (p>0.05). There were significant between-group differences on 11 post-assessment questions and MTM enrollment (p<0.05), with the in-person education group showing improved perceptions and greater enrollment. Conclusion: Patients remain largely unaware of MTM services; there is a need for education to increase awareness. Even though educating patients in a face-to-face context had a more positive impact on perceptions of MTM and enrollment in MTM, more research is needed regarding the best educational methods as it was difficult for patients to find time to attend an educational session.   Type: Student Project

Safety has become a global issue in various sectors, including the health services sector. The hospital is one of the health service organizations that is guided to continuously improve quality by building safer and safer health services so as to get customer loyalty. Hospital staff is a major component of quality management in one of the indicators in evaluating hospital accreditation. This research uses a quasi-experimental research design pre and posttest with control group. Quasi experiment research is a study that tests an intervention in a group of research subjects and then measures the results of the intervention. Samples in this study are all nurses who are in the room of the General Hospital, Surgery and ICU Bima Hospital, which are 50 people. The results showed the results of different tests using paired t-test p value = 0.000 which can be concluded that there are differences between the intervention group and the control group, seen from the value of the difference in the intervention group is greater than the difference in the control group can be interpreted as education using more booklets affect the increase in nurse knowledge. The conclusion in this study was that there were significant differences in nurses' knowledge after being given education using pre and post intervention booklets between the intervention and control groups (p = 0.000).

This article examines the impact of excellence-promoting policies on the actual performance of municipalities in the Czech Republic. In this analysis, the performance of municipalities that have received awards for the use of quality management tools is compared with a selected group of municipalities that did not receive awards. Data envelopment analysis (DEA; with constant and variable returns on the scale), free disposal hull (FDH), and Order-M methods were utilized to represent performance. For the actual performance comparison, a quasi-experimental design was used. The analysis of outputs using the difference impact method found that this specific public policy did not have a positive impact on the efficiency of municipalities. If the difference-in-differences method is used, the opposite is achieved. However, the technical efficiency gains are very small. The use of the quasi-experimental design along with the determination of inputs and outputs which are characteristic of the Czech Republic also offers a contribution when this method is being applied to the assessment of institutions in the form of local governments.

Currently there is a trend towards facilitating multidisciplinary research and collaborations between different faculties and/or multi-university collaboration. In order to achieve standardization, we believe that this culture should begin with the teaching-learning processes. This research has investigated collaborative work between nursing students and computer engineering students. To analyze the group response, an analysis of the contacts was carried out through Social Network Analisys, pre- and post-intervention. The student networks analyzed were friendship, collaboration and negative networks. The results show that the intervention had a positive impact on networks among students, creating greater cohesiveness due to the resources they shared. The research adds useful evidence for proposing innovative and multidisciplinary strategies in terms of  networks.

Background: Correct positioning and attachment play a crucial role in the successful establishment and maintenance of breast feeding. Objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of immediate postnatal training of the mothers on their practice of proper positioning and attachment during breast feeding. Material and Methods: This one group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental study was conducted at the Department of Pediatrics and Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Chittagong Medical College Hospital from January 2006 to June 2006. Three hundred mothers were evaluated for breast feeding position and attachment within 6 hours following normal delivery with a questionnaire and observational checklist. Then they received training on correct positioning and attachment for successful breastfeeding. Post training effect was evaluated by assessing mothers’ practice on 7th postnatal day among 256 mothers. Pre training and post training data were analyzed with SPSS-16 and McNemar test was done to see the difference. Results: Out of 256 mothers only 22.3% were first time mother and about 40% of them had 1-2 children. Majority (84.4%) of them knew about the benefits of breast feeding though one third (36.3%) of them favored pre-lacteal feeding. Statistically significant improvement in all components of position and attachment for breast feeding was found after intervention. Conclusion: The study results showed that immediate postnatal intervention towards correct positioning and attachment were highly effective for successful breast feeding. Intradialytic exercise (IDE) is not routinely prescribed in hemodialysis (HD) units despite its potential benefits on patients’ outcomes. This study was the first in the United Arab Emirates to examine the effect of aerobic IDE on hyperphosphatemia, malnutrition, and other health outcomes among HD patients. Participants were chosen from the largest HD unit in Sharjah Emirate for a quasi-experimental intervention with pre and post evaluation. The study lasted for 12 months. Study parameters were collected at baseline, post intervention, and follow-up. The intervention included a moderate-intensity aerobic IDE of 45 min per HD session; intensity was assessed using the Borg Scale. Patients were educated on the importance of exercise. Study outcomes were serum phosphorus (P), malnutrition inflammation score (MIS), quality of life (QOL), and pertinent blood tests. Forty-one eligible consenting HD patients were included in the study. Results at follow-up showed a non-significant reduction in P (p = 0.06) in patients who were hyperphosphatemic at baseline, but not in the sample as whole. MIS did not deteriorate throughout the study (p = 0.97). IDE resulted in a non-significant increase in the QOL visual analogue scale (p = 0.34). To conclude, aerobic IDE for 45 min is safe and could be beneficial, especially for hyperphosphatemic patients.

This study investigates a number of factors influencing employees to report unethical behavior in their organizations. This study aims to empirically examine the effect of organizational response on whistleblowing intentions, the effect of power distance on whistleblowing intentions. This research uses quasi-experimental design. The difference between this research and previous research is in the research data sources. This study collected data with a survey questionnaire given to 64 accounting students from a university in Padang, the capital of West Sumatra. Data were analyzed using ANOVA. The results of this study indicate that strong organizational responses do not have a negative impact on whistleblowing intentions. We also find that low power distances have a positive impact on whistleblowing intentions. The results of this study indicate that power distance affects the intention of revealing facts. These results contribute to the existing literature on accounting ethics, as well as inform public accounting governance policies

UNSTRUCTURED Previous research has identified the theoretical knowledge of nursing students and stated that new methods are needed in education. To evaluate the effect of education on the theoretical knowledge of students through internet-based or digital storytelling. Quasi-experimental study with comparison groups and pre- and post-measurements. In the internet-based education group 68 and digital storytelling video 66 undergraduate nurses were included the study. Data for the study were gathered, before education and after eight weeks. The percentages were calculated at for every measurement, and the Wilcoxon test was used to detect statistical significance of changes between measurements. The increase of knowledge scores was more often statistically significant in the internet-based education than in the digital storytelling video. The difference theoretical knowledge was higher among the internet-based education program than among those not receiving it.

This study aims to examine the effects of an intervention model, Change Nutrition by Doing, in which children act as agents of change – by ‘doing’ – in taking responsibility for the contents of the lunch box they bring from home to consume at an early childhood centre. This quasi-randomised case-control trial consisted of 35 Israeli kindergartens whose teachers were participating in an in-service training programme of an intervention model for improving children’s healthy nutritional behaviour. The control group consisted of 26 kindergartens whose teachers were participating in other in-service training programmes. The intervention model ran for eight months. The quality of the contents of the children’s lunch box in the experimental groups was measured pre- and post-intervention through structured observations that yielded standardised scores. Mann-Whitney U Test for independent samples (at the kindergarten level) was employed to compare the change in lunch-box content across the controls. The results showed that in all the variables the difference between the intervention and the control kindergartens was significant, p< .002. It was concluded that the intervention had a significant positive impact on the content of the lunch boxes. This study shows the potential of supporting children to be change agents at home. In the future, there should be a follow-up of the family’s perseverance of the acquired habit.
