A surgical safety checklist is a communication tool for patient safety that is used by the surgical team in the operating room, including the sign in, time out, and sign out process. The time out process aims to prevent patient error, location, and surgical procedures. Therefore, compliance is required in conducting time out. The level of knowledge of nurses about time out is very important because it affects the behavior of nurses in doing time out. This study purposed to determine the correlation between the nurse knowledge level about time out and compliance in doing time out at the Bali Med Hospital, Denpasar. The design used was a descriptive correlation with the cross-sectional approach. The relationship test used the Spearman Rho test. This study involved 31 nurses as a sample with a total sampling technique. The results of research on nurse compliance were mostly 70.9% adherent category and the results for the knowledge level of nurses were mostly 77.4% with a good level. Based on the statistical test with ? = 5%, it was obtained p = 0.000 (p <0.05). It is concluded that there was a significant correlation. The direction of the correlation was positive (+), which means the level of knowledge was followed by the level of nurse compliance in doing time out. This research was expected to be an added reference for nurses in increasing compliance in doing time out.

The occurrence of patients with traffic accidents is increased so much that the nurses need to enhance the knowledge of the response time services in the service of traffic accident cases. This research is to define the relationship between the nurses’ knowledge level to the initial assessment of the nurses’ response time in the service of traffic accident cases in the emergency departments. The study was conducted in the emergency room of Dr R. Soedjono Selong Hospital. The study was quantitative with cross-sectional planning. Total sampling was used and obtained 25 respondents. The results showed that nurses' knowledge level is 80% categorized as well, 16% categorized as moderate and 4% categorized as low. For nurse response time, 96% categorized as fast and 4% categorized as slow. The statistical test was used the chi-square test with SPSS. The P-value is 0,000, which implies there is a relationship between nurse knowledge level to the initial assessment of the nurses’ response time in the service of traffic accident cases.

Therefore, the nurses involved with this phenomenon should be aware of their roles. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of Context-Based Learning educational program on Nurse' knowledge, Attitude, and Practice about Nurse's Role in Organ Donation Process. Methods: In this Experimental study, Through Random Assignment, 3 ICU Wards of Gheam Hospital of Mashhad university of medical science devoted to Context-based Learning (Intervention) and 6 Wards devoted to Workshop Group (Control). Then through the Stratified Random Sampling Allocation Method, Demandable Nurses That Determine based on Pilot Study Were Selected and Intervention Was Done on 60 ICU Nurses (each group, n=30(. The CBL Training was performed in 3 sessions, every session length 2 hours, and the Time Interval between Sessions was 1 week. In the workshop group, Intervention was performed in two stages, every stages length 3 hours and between two stages was last 1 week. Both groups before and 1 month after intervention complete the questionnaire of Assessing Nurse's Knowledge, Attitude and Practice about Nurse's Role in Organ Donation Process. Data Analysis was done by SPSS11.5 software and by using t-test, Paired test, Wilcoxon, Man-whinny, and Chi-Square.Results: Change Score of Knowledge in Context-Based Learning was (43/4± 13/1) greater Than Workshop Group (14/3± 4/0) that statistically was Significant (p<0/001). Also in Attitude Change Score in Context-Based Learning was (28/7 ± 21/2) greater Than the Workshop group (13/1± 8/7) which statistically was Significant (p<0/001). Furthermore, in Practice Change Score in Context-Based Learning was (73/6± 21/1) greater Than the Workshop group (23/3± 6/8) which statistically was Significant (p<0/001).Conclusion: Based on Results, the Context-Based Learning Method had more effect in increasing the average Level of Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice about the Nurse’s Role in the Organ Donation Process rather than the Workshop Method. It is therefore suggested to utilize Context-Based Learning Method for the education of Nurse's Role in Organ Donation Process.

BackgroundHeart failure (HF) has become a national concern, with approximately 5.7 million adults in the United States suffering from this life-altering disease. Improved education of these patients prior to discharge helps patients manage their disease adequately and reduce symptom exacerbations.ObjectiveThis quality improvement initiative aimed to determine the effectiveness of an educational intervention in improving nurses' knowledge of HF discharge teaching and documentation of this education in patient charts.MethodsThis project was conducted at a Magnet-recognized acute care hospital with 39 critical care step-down beds. Twenty-nine nurses employed on the step-down unit participated in the educational intervention. Pre/post nurse knowledge and chart review data were analyzed.ResultsThere was a statistically significant increase in the percentage of patients receiving HF education from unit nurses from preintervention 77.0% (n = 81) to postintervention 96.4% (n = 138) (p < .001). There was also a statistically significant increase in the mean number of days patients were educated from 1.64 to 2.58 days (p < .001). Nurse knowledge also increased from pretest (69.7%) to posttest scores (100%) (p < .001).ConclusionsProviding HF educational opportunities enhanced nurse knowledge and increased their documentation of HF education in patient charts.Implications for NursingNurse educators may use the study results to improve nurse education and practices aimed at reducing HF readmissions.

This quality improvement project was completed to show that a formal lung transplant education course for nurses caring for lung transplant patients increased their knowledge. An eight-hour education course was developed by experts in the field of lung transplantation. A pretest was administered before the education course. A posttest was administered to determine if knowledge was improved. A three-month follow-up test was administered to determine knowledge retention. Based on the data analysis, nurse knowledge improved after formal education. Item analysis determined what areas of educational content need to be the focus of quarterly education. The education course was adopted as formal training for transplant nurses.
