The paper analyzes the current state of the non-profit sector in the Russian economy on the basis of conducted sociological survey aimed at establishing the degree of awareness of the population regarding the activities of Dmitry Zimin’s foundation and the attitude of the respondents to foreign investment in the Russian educational projects. The study used methods of statistical and structural analysis as well as the synthesis of the respondents’ answers to the questions concerning the activities of Dmitry Zimin’s foundation and foreign investments funds in the Russian educational projects. It reveals that most of the respondents have no idea about the activities of the above foundation, but the attitude of the respondents towards foreign investments in domestic education has been overwhelmingly positive. The article also discusses the impact of legal acts and government regulations on the activities of non-profit organizations. In particular, it concerns the FL No. 121 “On foreign agents”. The work provides a comparative description of this normative act with the similar laws applicable in other countries. The paper not only examines the root causes of the problems arising from attracting foreign investments and donations by non-profit organizations but identifies the main factors that contribute to the growth of the non-profit sector in Russia. Besides, the two-way communication between the non-profit sector and the society affecting the level of public demand for services provided by nonprofit organizations is considered. The results obtained in the course of the study indicate the existence of a large number of obstacles for the fully functioning of non-profit organizations in Russia and attracting cash flows from abroad. In particular, one of the problems revealed in the course of the study is low awareness of the population about the specificity of this method of financing as well as the activities of non-profit organizations as a whole. The recommendations for improvement of the regulation of non-profit organizations include raising awareness of the population on this issue and easing control of the activities carried out by non-profit organizations acting as foreign agents.

Ensuring the financial stability of non-profit organizations through financial decision in the structure of financial resources is influenced by many objective and subjective factors. However, a necessary presumption of financial stability is to reduce their dependence on one source of funding or in other words, the independence can be achieved by diversifying of the funding sources. And it is the diversification of financial sources and their acquisition through self-financing that we consider as an appropriate way to achieve financial balance and thus long-term existential security of non-profit organizations. This scientific paper presents the partial results of a research of the current state of self-financing and diversification of financial resources of private non-profit organizations in the Slovak Republic. We analysed the primary data by the relevant scientific methods and procedures (selected mathematical-statistical methods, analysed in SPSS – Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). With the analysis we acquired a knowledge which allows us to formulate several solutions and recommendations for theory and practice. By presenting these conclusions we fulfil a scientific goal of the paper, which is to present partial results of research of current state of funding of private non-profit organizations and interpret the obtained outputs in an economic and social context.


The article is devoted to the formation of a methodical approach to the implementation of the brand management process. The essence of the concept of «brand», «branding» and «brand management» was disclosed, the stages of brand management were mentioned. A distinction is made between brand management and branding. Branding as a brand building process is part of brand management – the entire brand management process. Also, the article reveals the differences in brand management of commercial and non-profit organizations, because the brand’s role for the organization determines the importance of components for the brand and for the brand management process. In view of the differences, the article proposes an author’s conceptual model of brand management stages, which is designed to systematize and deepen the methodology of brand management of non-profit organizations as a holistic brand management system. This model implies the consistent implementation of the steps in order for the organization to become a brand. The created concept has 5 blocks: unit of purpose formation, analysis of the current state, brand audit, branding procedures, management of the created brand. The article describes in detail the mentioned stages and gives recommendations on their implementation. The goal-setting unit is very important as it defines the organization’s mission, which should be taken into account at all stages of brand management. The analysis of the current state is carried out by the organization, which has already spent some time working in the market, and have a certain audience that should be investigated. The brand audit, according to the proposed structure, can be conducted from time to time by organizations to respond promptly to problems and to alert them in a timely manner. Only after all research the organization can begin the branding process and develop positioning. The branding procedure in the article reveals the management of the brand. It is important to monitor performance and make changes in the presence of identified problems.

Social media technologies have the potential to be powerful knowledge sharing and community building tools for both corporate and non-profit interests. This pilot study explores the social media presence of a group of forty-six Alberta-based non-profit organizations (NPOs) in this information rich space. In this paper we look at the pattern of presence of NPOs using social media and relationships with staffing structures.Les médias sociaux ont la capacité d’être de puissants outils de partage de la connaissance et de rassemblement communautaire pour les organisations à but lucratif et sans but lucratif. Cette étude pilote explore la présence dans les médias sociaux d’un groupe de quarante-six organisations sans but lucratif (OSBL) albertaines dans cet environnement riche en information. La communication portera sur les modèles de présence des OSBL dans les médias sociaux et les liens avec les structures organisationnelles.

The relevance of the article is determined by the fact that in Russia there is no effective mechanism of state support for the activities of non-profit organizations in the field of “green Finance”. The role of non-profit organizations is leveled, which can become a serious help in solving economic problems, in particular, the problems of recycling and processing of secondary raw materials, the placement of industrial waste and household garbage, and landscaping of large megacities. The main financial burden in the field of “green economy” falls on States and large enterprises. Meanwhile, we cannot ignore the important role of non-profit organizations that can not only draw attention to environmental problems to the public, but also offer their own measures to solve environmental problems. In this regard, it becomes relevant to consider the participation of non-profit organizations in the implementation of environmental projects by attracting “green Finance”.
