This experiment aims to study the effect of abscisic acid in maintaining water balance under different levels of irrigation. it was carried out in Pistachio Office on two-years-old (P.vera) seedlings growing in polyethylene bags. Three irrigation and three abscisic acid treatments were applied during 2019 and 2020 year. The results showed a significant change of water stress on most of the growth indicators (planting length - planting diameter - leaf area, etc.) which decreased and reached its lowest value when irrigation with 14-day interval between irrigation. As for abscisic acid treatments reduced significantly and avoided the harmful effects of water stress and improved the water balance of seedlings. A significant increase was observed in length of the main axis of seedlings that treated with abscisic acid (59.3 cm) compared with control plants (55.5cm) under water stress conditions, in addition to it was observed an increase in concentration of chlorophyll (38 mg/ g ww) compared to control plants (36.19 mg/ g ww), while the level of proline in the treated plants increased significantly (52.5 mg/ g ww) compared with untreated control plants (50 mg/ g ww), and these results illustrate the important role of abscisic acid in regulating water relations within the plant. And increase the plant's ability to withstand the negative effects of water stress.

AbstractDifferent levels of regulatory mechanisms, including posttranscriptional regulation, are needed to elaborately regulate inflammatory responses to prevent harmful effects. Terminal uridyltransferase 7 (TUT7) controls RNA stability by adding uridines to its 3′ ends, but its function in innate immune response remains obscure. Here we reveal that TLR4 activation induces TUT7, which in turn selectively regulates the production of a subset of cytokines, including Interleukin 6 (IL-6). TUT7 regulates IL-6 expression by controlling ribonuclease Regnase-1 mRNA (encoded by Zc3h12a gene) stability. Mechanistically, TLR4 activation causes TUT7 to bind directly to the stem-loop structure on Zc3h12a 3′-UTR, thereby promotes Zc3h12a uridylation and degradation. Zc3h12a from LPS-treated TUT7-sufficient macrophages possesses increased oligo-uridylated ends with shorter poly(A) tails, whereas oligo-uridylated Zc3h12a is significantly reduced in Tut7-/- cells after TLR4 activation. Together, our findings reveal the functional role of TUT7 in sculpting TLR4-driven responses by modulating mRNA stability of a selected set of inflammatory mediators.

In experiments with attached and detached shoots of balsam fir, Abies balsamea L., synthetic (±)abscisic acid (ABA) (1) reduced photosynthesis and transpiration by inducing stomatal closure, (2) inhibited indoleacetic acid (IAA) - induced cambial activity in photosynthesizing and non-photosynthesizing shoots, and (3) inhibited the basipetal movement of [14C]IAA. Neither gibberellic acid nor kinetin counteracted the inhibitory effect of (±)ABA on IAA-induced cambial activity. In addition it was demonstrated that increasing the internal water stress increased the level of endogenous ABA in the phloem–cambial region of bark peelings and decreased the basipetal movement of [14C]IAA through branch sections. On the basis of these findings it is proposed that internal water stress inhibits cambial activity, partly through increasing the level of ABA; the ABA acts to decrease the provision of carbohydrates and auxin that are required for cambial growth.

Existing literature has analysed the relationship between electoral systems and either corruption or satisfaction with democracy (SWD) focussing on the traditional distinction between majoritarian and proportional systems. This paper, instead, investigates if and how specific aspects of electoral systems moderate the negative effects of corruption perceptions on SWD. We argue that two mechanisms act simultaneously but at different levels. The first mechanism is the relationship between voters and the national government, while the second links single representatives to their constituents. We advance conditional hypotheses that postulate an attenuating effect of disproportionality and a reinforcing impact of personal vote. Empirical results from 35 elections in 33 democracies, using both individual and aggregate-level data, confirm the research hypotheses. More disproportional electoral systems weaken the impact of citizens’ perceived corruption on their democratic satisfaction, while this is strengthened by systems in which the ballot control is mostly in the hand of the voters.

Spring-lifted seedlings were grown in pots in the field and, after a natural fall photoperiod, exposed to three 25-day cold (+4 °C) storage treatments and two lifting times, mid-November and mid-January. The storage treatments were light storage in pots, dark storage in pots, and bareroot storage in polyethylene bags in the dark. In a second experiment, an extended fall photoperiod treatment was applied to seedlings that were then stored in pots and subjected to the same light and dark treatments above. In both experiments, needle samples were taken four times during and after the treatments for abscisic acid assay. Abscisic acid concentrations were determined using gas liquid chromatography after purification with high performance liquid chromatography. Lifting times and storage treatments did not result in statistically significant differences in abscisic acid concentrations. However, there were treatment differences in characteristics of postplanting performance. Mid-November lifting resulted in reduced survival and a greater number of days to bud flush compared with the mid-January lifting results. The extended fall photoperiod material produced similar results to the natural fall photoperiod material. The failure to detect a relationship between needle abscisic acid concentration and seedling vigor may have been due to a transitory role of abscisic acid in the storage conditions studied. The quantification method for abscisic acid is insensitive and laborious for practical seedling testing.

In the environment, there are number of abiotic and biotic factors which are hampering the sustainable production of crops. The drought is one of the constraints which directly/indirectly affects the crop yield. It has various negative effects on the normal physiology and biochemistry of the plants. Therefore, researchers must have to work in the field of developing drought-tolerant crop plants to meet the food needs of the exponentially growing population of the world. The present study is the outcome of an extensive literature survey on the basic perturbations of drought to the crops, role of abscisic acid (ABA) in stressful conditions and its signal transduction.

In this paper we examined the factors of residents’ support for sustainable tourism development in Mardin city-Turkey, in the context of gender as social structure. We found that people are sensitive about positive and negative effects of tourism, in association with society attachment and involvement, with bigger role for the later. And the perceptions of positive effects reduce their evaluation of the negative effects. Also we found that women are less active in transforming their attitude toward the effects of tourism to behavior toward sustainable tourism. But they are ready, more than men, to support sustainable tourism and ignore its negative effects, in spite of their higher sensitivity for the negative effects. So we recommend raising the role of local community and giving women more chances in the different levels of tourism activities.
