A multidisciplinary research, currently in progress at the University of Salento in collaboration with the Lecce Provincial Museum, interests different artistic expressions widespread in the Salento peninsula (South Italy). In the present study, the characterisation of organic and inorganic materials used in the oldest pictorial cycle found in the 12th century monastery Santa Maria delle Cerrate was carried out thanks to a multi-analytical approach. Previous investigations have focused on the problem of dating the frescoes mainly on the basis of the stylistic aspects and the material characterisation has been definitely underinvestigated. Chromatographic and spectrometric techniques were used: micro-Raman spectroscopy was used for recognising pigments and gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection for analysing organic binders. These techniques enabled us to characterise pigments and binders. The presence of both true fresco and tempera bound pigments was assessed. Among the different pigments detected, the results relevant to the blue paints were interesting: two different blue pigments were, indeed, identified, lapis lazuli and smalt (cobalt blue glass) both unexpected. As a result, Santa Maria delle Cerrate appears to be the first known example of their use in South Italy. From a conservation point of view, moreover, the knowledge of the palette permitted to highlight the reason of observed decay of some paints: for instance, lead white was used in some panels, explaining their blackening.

The current study aimed to identify the extent to which the academic outcomes of the programs of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Jordan conform to the American accreditation standards "ABET". To achieve the study objective, the qualitative method was followed and three tools were used: standardized open-ended interviews, participant observation, and analysis of documents collected from the field. Major findings revealed that engineering departments which were granted accreditation seek to achieve the academic outcomes of the programs that emanate from the international accreditation standards of ABET by a periodic continuous comprehensive evaluation system of all activities of the teaching process. Internal accreditation committees are formed in the engineering departments consisting of academic staff, administrative professionals and specialists with experience in monitoring and evaluation. The Faculty of Engineering has benefited from achieving the minimum standards of accreditation in improving the quality of learning outcomes and obtaining accredited university degrees similar to any degree in an accredited American university. The engineering departments also seek to improve the infrastructure and provision of equipment appropriate to the standards through obtaining institutional support. Despite the existence of some obstacles and challenges facing the engineering departments, they have benefited from accreditation. It was recommended to apply accreditation standards for all academic majors in universities for their importance for students, faculty members and the profession. Keywords: academic outcomes, faculty of engineering, University of Jordan, abet accreditation standards, faculty, quality representatives.

The current study aimed to know the reality of the availability of teaching techniques from the faculty members’ point of view at the Faculty of Science and Arts in Al-Ula at Taibah University, and the effects of non-availability for these techniques. The researcher used the descriptive approach, and the study sample consisted of all members of the original community who are (121) faculty members (male, female). The researcher prepared a questionnaire consisting of (42) techniques for gathering information, and it was verified validity and reliability. The study has come across the following results: It was found that the average mean of the reality of the availability of teaching techniques was satisfactorily with an average of (2.41), and (50.1%) percentage with a degree (disagree) and that is the highest degree of availability of five techniques with a general average of (4.30) and with a (54.4%) percentage with a degree (agree). As for the general mean for the medium techniques, it was (1.84) with a (46.1%) percentage and with a degree (disagree). The lowest levels of those technologies, which are almost non-existent, were with a general average (1.45) with a (68.6%) percentage and a degree (strongly disagree). As the results indicated there are statistically significant differences in the opinions of the study sample individuals on the reality of the availability of teaching techniques according to the gender variable at the level of the tool as a whole in favor of males. Finally, in the light of the results of the study, also the negative effects of the lack of teaching techniques in Science and Arts in Al-Ula were clearly seen and the feasibility of the study as well. The study also concluded to feasibility of the study the reality of the techniques in the college and strengthening the practical side in using the modern methods of the teaching and diversity in exchange of information with the learner, and developing the self abilities for the learner. This study is concluded with several recommendations, the most important of which are: the university administration should ensure the availability of teaching techniques in colleges, keep pace with technological developments, and conduct more future research on ensuring digital quality and the possibility of integration in curriculum design.

The study aimed to probe the degree of adherence by students of the University of Jordan to moral values. To achieve this, a survey was prepared and distributed to a random sample of 1769 students in the second semester of the 2013-2014 school year. The study showed a high degree of adherence to religious, social and behavioral values, and a moderate degree of adherence to emotive and mental values. The results revealed statistical significant variations in the degree of adherence to moral values within the sample, attributed to gender, and skewed towards females. There were no statistically significant variations found across students of different faculties.
