<div><div><div><p>The synthesis and optical, electrochemical, thermal and electrical characterization of a new and unexpected 1-n-octyloxyperopyrene is reported. The structure of 1-n- octyloxyperopyrene has been unambiguously established by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The solubility of this polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, endowed by the alkoxy substituent, allows the fabrication of thin film field-effect transistors by liquid deposition methods. These devices show hole mobilities up to 1.61 × 10–3 cm2 V–1 s–1.</p></div></div></div>

AbstractWe report the preparation and characterization of Bi2VO5.5(BVO) films grown on SrTiO3, Pt/SiO2/Si, and n-Si(100) substrates by the MOD technique. Since a dielectric constant of BVO is much lower than that of PZT or SBT, BVO is one of the promising candidates for metal-ferroelectric-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MFSFETs). It is found by X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements that highly (001)-oriented BVO films were obtained and that the crystalline quality was improved with increasing the annealing temperature. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) in the X-ray rocking curve measurements for BVO films on SrTiO3, Pt/SiO2/Si, and n-Si(100) substrates are 0.60, 1.00, and 5.10, respectively. Electrical properties were measured with Pt top electrodes and the typical relative dielectric constant determined by the C-V characteristics is 60-80.

Degumming is the dominant method for insolating lignocellulosic fibers in textile applications. Traditional alkaline degumming (TAL), as a common method, requires a high-concentration alkali and has been a severe challenge to the environment. In the research reported here, the possibility of innovative jute degumming by organic solvents 1-2 propylene glycol and a combination of additive green oxygen (GO-OS) was studied. The results revealed that fibers could be extracted by this system (under condition of 0.9% GO-OS, 180°C, 120 min), and obtained fibers with higher breaking tenacity (7.1 cN/dtex), yield (65.7%), breaking elongation (2.87%) and residual gum (11.7%), which all meet the requirement of the relevant Chinese Textile National Standards. Notably, the required reaction time (120 min) of the GO-OS system was 180 min shorter than that of the TAL method. Furthermore, the modifications introduced by the degumming effect on physicochemical aspects were characterized and confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. This study provides a promising degumming method for separating jute lignocellulose without acid and alkali consumption.

ABSTRACTWe present the metalorganic chemical vapor deposition growth, n-type and p-type doping and characterization of AlxGa1-xN alloys on sapphire substrates. We report the fabrication of Bragg reflectors and the demonstration of two dimensional electron gas structures using AlxGa1-xN high quality films. We report the structural characterization of the AlxGa1-xN / GaN multilayer structures and superlattices through X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. A density of screw and mixed threading dislocations as low as 107 cm-2 was estimated in AlxGa1-xN / GaN structures. The realization of AlxGa1-xN based UV photodetectors with tailored cut-off wavelengths from 365 to 200 nm are presented.

AbstractIn this work, synthesis and characterization of composite materials based on NanoClay(NC) and boric acid doped PolyAniline (PANI) is studied. PANI was successfully incorporated into NC to form PANI-NC composites. The resulting organic-inorganic hybrid material, PANI-NC was characterized by various physicochemical techniques. Formation of PANI inside the clay tactoid has been confirmed by X-ray diffraction studies (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and FT-IR. Also, conductivity and physical properties of the PANI-NC composites were investigated.
