Survey research was conducted in Nawalparasi (B.S.W) district to assess farmers’ perception on climate change and the impact of climate change in wheat production. The survey was conducted in four municipalities (rural municipality). A total of 83 respondents were involved in this study. The primary data were collected through survey questionnaire, direct observation, focus group discussion, whereas secondary data on wheat area, production and productivity from different sources were also collected. The majority of the respondents (90.4%) perceived about climate change while 9.4% respondents were not aware about climate change. Furthermore, out of the respondents mentioning changes in temperature, rainfall duration, rainfall amount, dew and winter monsoon around 95.2%, 91.9%, 92.4%, 94% and 90.3% of them opinionated that there were changes in wheat production because of these factors respectively. Moreover, t-test and probit model analysis showed that there was great impact of climate change in wheat production and impact is increasing yearly in Nawalparsi(B.S.W) district. So, Government and policymakers should focus on climate resilient adaptation strategies formulation for crop cultivation through intensive research and extension packages. Adoption of technology to reduce the impact of climate change should be encouraged to gain optimum wheat production.

Climate change (CC) has become one of the intervening issues in the last few decades. Climate change can severely affect the way community is living, prominently the developing countries. Climate change brings out wide ranging effects on water resources, agriculture, human health and biodiversity. The study was conducted in ward number 3, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 13 of Kamalamai municipality Sindhuli, Nepal. The methods adopted for the data were key informant interviews, group discussions and observations. In order to support the primary data and secondary data were also used. The secondary sources of Data were obtained from the public documents of the different ministries, departments, Central Bureau of Statistics and journal articles. Group discussions, Key informant interviews and observation were carried out to identify the impact of climate change on vegetation and agriculture. The findings of the study show that majority of the household perceived the impact of climate change on vegetation and agriculture while very few people were unknown about the impact. Climate change expected to cause many other climatic hazards, which directly affect the economy and livelihoods of the people.

This study aims to determine the impact of climate change on market garden production in the extreme south of Mali through the perception and adaptation of market gardeners to climatic phenomena. The study used two models, namely the probit selection and Heckman results models and multinomial logistic regression, based on data collected from producers. A total of 194 producers were surveyed. The results of Heckman's probit model indicate that experience in agriculture and the educational level of the producers are the two main determinants of producers' perception and simultaneous adaptation to climate change. Among these variables agricultural experience is both positively and negatively correlated with perception.

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s surface. According to the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) average temperature of the Earth’s surface was global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the 0.74 ± 0.18 0C (1.33 ± 0.32 F) over the last hundred years. The impact of rising temperatures is the climate change effect on agricultural production. If the community does not craft made adaptation to global warming will have an impact on food security. This research aims to know the society’s adaptation to food security as a result of global warming and to know the influence of global warming on food security. The research was carried out based on survey methods. The influence of global warming on food security is identified with a share of household food expenditure and the identification of rainfall. Sampling was done by random sampling. The Data used are the primary and secondary data. Primary Data obtained through structured interviews and depth interview using a questionnaire while the secondary data retrieved from publication data of the Central Bureau Statistics B(BPS), Department of Agriculture and Climatology Meteorology and Geophysics (BMKG). The expected results of the study is to know variations of food security due to global warming in Kulon Progo Regency. Comprehensive knowledge through community participation and related Government increased food security that is used as the basis for drafting the model society’s adaptation to the impacts of global warming.

Climate change is a global problem affecting agricultural production, a good adaptation strategy for this phenomena should be sought for increase agricultural production. The study was conducted in Nigeria to assess the Impact of Climate Change on root and tuber crops production among farmers in Nigeria. Secondary data were used for the study, they were collected from NRCRI Umudike and other individual publications. The result shows that climate change had negative impact on root and tubers crops production including potato. Adaptation of Agriculture to climate change in the areas of crop and animal production, post harvest activities and capacity building, divers friction of livelihood sources through the use of different farming methods and improved agricultural practices will help to reduce the impact of climate change. Examples are establishment of forestry, generation of improved and disease resistance crop varieties addition of value into agricultural products and post harvest activities for climate change adaptation and sustainable development.

The impact of climate change dynamics has a multiplicative effect when the interlinkages between water and energy are considered. This also applies to climate change co-benefits that derive from adaptation and mitigation initiatives implemented at the urban level and that address the water-energy nexus. A better understanding of the water-energy nexus is a precondition for integrated resource planning that optimizes the use of scarce resources. Against this background, the paper assesses the potential impact of water-energy saving technologies (WEST) on the water-energy nexus of Cuenca, Ecuador, focusing on how vulnerability to climate change may affect the water metabolic cycle of the urban area. Water-energy saving technologies such as rainwater harvesting, solar water heaters, and micro water turbines, reduce water-related energy consumption and mitigate greenhouse gases emissions; thereby illustrating the potential to generate climate change mitigation and adaptation co-benefits. The paper relies on primary data collected through interviews and a survey as well as secondary data in order to assess the extent to which water-energy saving technologies influence the water-energy nexus in Cuenca’s urban water metabolic cycle. Within the context of climate change, the paper develops a business-as-usual scenario and assesses how this is modified by the implementation of water-energy saving technologies.

Abstract Indonesia is a tropical country that experiences the impact of climate change. The utilization of taro as an amphibian crop might sustain the food availability for the most vulnerable farmers against the negative impact of climate change. The study aims to evaluate the current status of taro utilization and production as local food concerning food diversification, sustainable agriculture, and climate change issues. Data were obtained from a focus group discussion with primary stakeholders of the taro value chain and literature review. Results show that taro is an important secondary food in some regions with three main uses as local consumption, local trading, and export. Prominent taro consumers existed in West Papua, Papua, Maluku, and Central Sulawesi Provinces with consumption rates 10.6, 5.3, 2.2, and 2.0 kg/capita/year, respectively. Taro was intensively cultivated in Banten, West Java, and South Sulawesi provinces, for fresh and processed products. The respondents agree with taro as a prospective adaptive crop to climate change of both drought and excess precipitation. There are some issues in the biodiversity conservation, crop improvement, link-match industry, and stakeholder capacity building for competitive, quality, quantity, and sustainable production, as future works in the taro value chain in Indonesia.

ABSTRAK Dampak terhadap pemanasan global adalah terjadinya perubahan iklim yang berpengaruh terhadap kondisi ekosistem Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS). Kondisi ini menyebabkan penurunan tingkat kesejahteraan masyarakat dan meningkatkan tingkat kerentanan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan melakukan analisis tingkat kerentanan masyarakat terhadap perubahan iklim di Sub DAS Garang Hulu. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif-eksploratif dengan menggunakan pendekatan metode kombinasi kualititatif dan kuantitatif (mixed method). Data sekunder dikumpulkan melalui kegiatan studi literatur dan desk study. Data primer berupa persepsi masyarakat dengan wawancara mendalam dengan metode purposive sampling. Penilaian kerentanan masyarakat terhadap perubahan iklim menggunakan fungsi dari tiga komponen, yaitu paparan, kepekaan, dan kemampuan adaptasi. Hasil analisis kerentanan masyarakat ditampilkan dalam bentuk peta-peta dengan bantuan Sistem Informasi Geografi (SIG). Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kerentanan masyarakat terhadap perubahan iklim didominasi dalam kategori rendah sampai dengan sedang dengan persentase 73.83%. Daerah yang memiliki kerentanan tinggi adalah daerah Kecamatan Ungaran Timur dan kelurahan Sukorejo di Kota Semarang. This condition causes the decreasing in the level of social welfare and the increasing  level of vulnerability of  living community. This study was aimed  to analyze the level of vulnerability of living communities due to climate change in Garang Hulu sub-watersheds . This research was a descriptive-explorative approach by using a combination of qualititative and quantitative methods (mixed method). Secondary data were collected through the study of literature and desk study. Primary data were taken in the form of public perception along with  indepth interviews. Respondents were chosen through purposive sampling method. Assessment of the  social vulnerability to climate change was using a function of three components, namely the exposure, sensitivity, and adaptability. The results of the vulnerability analysis were presented in the form of maps using the GIS. The study results showed that the level of vulnerability of communities to climate change was dominated by low category to moderate with the percentage of 73.83%. Areas that had a high vulnerability were East Ungaran local district and Sukorejo village in Semarang. Key Words : watershed, vulnerability, exposure, sensitivity, adaptability.

The inhabitants of south west region of Bangladesh are prone to floods, cyclones, salinity intrusion and droughts, and the incidence of these hazards is rising. Recently two cyclones (known as Aila and Sidr) hit the southwest region of Bangladesh. Considering the above in view, research had been conducted for understanding the impacts and adaptation measures through sustainable coastal resources management in the cyclone affected greater Khulna areas. The present study was carried out (from January to June, 2011) to understand impacts of climate change on the shrimp farming, hatchery and nursery operations in the selected upazilas (Paikgacha and Shyamnagar). The study was conducted both primary and secondary data sources. To collect primary data different methods had been adopted which were informal interview, a pre-formulated questionnaire survey and Focused Group Discussion (FGD). In the study areas, about 80-90% people are involved with shrimp farming with 10-15 years experience. About 60% shrimp farmers thought that the weather has changed abruptly within the last 5 years. The study showed that the first and foremost factor is high temperature (49.5%). Majority (43.21%) encountered that temperature hampered the farm operation while lower growth (54%), low production (19%), loss of crops (13%), less water (4%), mortality (4%), and diseases (4%) occurred due to less rainfall or no rain. From the study, farmers (80%) reported susceptibility of shrimp to diseases in body deformation, spots or lesions on skins while 13.33% mentioned fry susceptibility to diseases. Some time oriented and need based adaptations in shrimp farming are now most concern. Government and other stakeholders should come forward to execute research for adaptations.Res. Agric., Livest. Despite the complexity of climate change and health research, studies conducted are still remaining non-interdisciplinary and non -multidisciplinary. A number of literatures has demonstrated the complexity for carrying research on climate change from social sciences, climate sciences to public health sciences. Social scientists look at the climate change as a social constructedness when climate scientists look at the climate change in term of terrestrial, oceanographic, and atmospheric change due to carbon dioxide emission, greenhouse emission, and ozone depletion. Health research studies have demonstrated the impact of climate change on health In Africa, Middle Income Countries as well as in Advanced Industrialized countries. Drawn on ethno-monographic studies, desk-based studies, secondary data and review of literatures relative to climate change and health, this paper examines the impact of climate change in Africa. The findings reveal three impacts of climate change: direct effects, indirect effects and postulated effects. The findings inform Disaster Risk Reduction Policy Makers on mitigation measure and adaption.
