<p><b>Why some firms perform better than others is a central question in business research. Since the mid 1980s, the dominant paradigm relating to this issue is the resource-based view of the firm (RBV). The RBV is based on the premise that firms are bundles of heterogeneous, imperfectly mobile resources, and that advantage-generating resources, rather than market and industry structures, are the most critical determinants of firm success. Originating in the field of strategic management, the RBV has become a major focus of marketing scholars, and a new direction of marketing literature has recently emerged, drawing on marketing resources.</b></p> <p>Although the RBV has received considerable attention in the marketing literature, the growing theoretical and conceptual works on marketing resources are not mirrored in empirical investigation. More specifically, while significant contributions, such as those from Srivastava et al.'s (2001) relational and intellectual market-based assets framework, have been made to the theoretical side of the RBV and marketing, little has been done, so far, with respect to its empirical side. Moreover, the majority of the theoretical and empirical insights on the antecedents of export performance are based on the structure-conduct-performance (SCP) paradigm or atheoretical models. Little attention has been given to the process of building competitive advantage and the meaningful idiosyncratic combinations of export market resources that can be used efficiently and effectively by firms competing in export markets.</p> <p>To fill these voids in the literature, this study aims to investigate the sources of competitive advantage and superior export performance by focusing on export market-based assets and capabilities. An integrated framework of export marketing resources and their performance implications is empirically tested with data collected from 320 manufacturing export firms in Thailand. Structural equation modeling (SEM) is used to examine the interrelationships among the theoretical constructs.</p> <p>The findings of the study provide groundwork for the understanding of the resource building blocks in the export firms and the internal process through which export marketing resources influence firm performance in the export markets. Tangible export market-based assets indirectly contribute to export performance through export market-based capabilities and export competitive advantage. The effects of relational and intellectual export market-based assets on export performance are mediated by export market-based capabilities and export competitive advantage, whereas the effects of export market-based capabilities on export performance are mediated by export competitive advantage.</p> <p>This study demonstrates and explains the richness of the RBV as the basis for assessing the ability of the firms to exploit export marketing resources as a means to enhance their performance. Hence, the study expands the growing body of literature on export marketing and export performance research by adopting a fresh theoretical perspective of the resource-based strategy. The theoretical framework and its empirical validation underpinning the study could provide a new explanation as to why some export firms are more successful than others.</p>

The Era of the ASEAN Economic Community (MEA) should be a boost for small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) to be more proactive in maintaining the existence of their business. SMEs as one of the important links in Indonesia's economic growth, need to get special attention to develop it. The research problem is how to improve export performance of SMEs in Central Java through the adoption of e-commerce, 3PL (third party logistics support), export market orientation and export marketing strategy. In answer to the problem developed a modeling and four hypotheses have been formulated in this study. This study used sampling purposive sampling method in which the respondent is the owner or manager of SMEs in Central Java that meets the criteria. The number of samples in this study was 134 respondents. The analysis tool used is SEM (structural equation modeling) in the AMOS program. The result of SEM analysis meets the criteria of Goodness of Fit that is Chi-square equal to 193,647; probability 0.051; TLI 0.981; CFI 0.984; CMIN / DF 1,188; RMSEA 0,039; GFI 0.879 and AGFI 0.844. The results of the data analysis showed that all hypotheses are accepted and produced three strategies in order to improve export performance through export marketing strategies that are influenced by export marketing orientation, support from logistic companies, and e-commerce adoption. The current paper was conducted with the aim of investigating the role of the competitive advantage in the relationship between the marketing intelligence on the export performance within the scope of the activities of the Industrial towns in the city of Ilam. To attain the research goals, as many as 155 people of mangers and experts were selected through simple random method for responding to the research questionnaires. The research sample group responded to the Marketing Intelligence (L.A. Cacciolatti and A. Fearne) and the Competitive advantage and Exports performance (Murray et al) questionnaires on the Likert scale. The data taken from the research questionnaires were analyzed by using the Pearson correlation coefficient, structural equation modeling and regression analysis. The findings resulting from the data analysis implicated that there is a significant and direct relationship between dimensions of the marketing intelligence (type of information, sources of information, and alternation in using information) and the competitive advantage (r=0.986) and between the competitive advantage and the export performance (r=0.925). The results of the structural equation modeling and regression analysis illustrated that the competitive advantage plays a mediating role in the relationship between the marketing intelligence and export performance of the companies among the industrial companies. The findings suggest that the marketing intelligence will at first result in enhanced competitive advantage of the companies and then the competitive advantage will bring about a boost to the export performance of the companies.

The automobile industry has significantly contributed towards China’s economy. After producing approximately 24.5 million vehicles in 2015, China’s automobile industry has achieved its greatest height by emerging worldwide as the top automobile producer. However, China’s automobile industry could not sustain this achievement and it witnessed a sudden growth rate decrease in 2016–2017, reflecting their poor export performance. To address this problem, the prime objective of this research is to explore the roles of total quality management (TQM), entrepreneurial orientation (EO), export market orientation (EMO), brand orientation (BO) and cleaner production (CP) in firm export performance (FEP). For this reason, a quantitative research approach with cross-sectional research design was adopted by gathering the data from 347 respondents working as export managers at Chinese automobile companies via simple random technique. Partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) through software smartPLS-3.2.7 employed to analyze data. Results revealed that the TQM, EO, EMO, BO, and CP has a significant association with FEP. Additionally, findings confirmed CP as a moderating variable that contributes positively to FEP. The research has eminently contributed to the export performance of the automobile industry, specifically in China. It is very beneficial to practitioners in the Chinese automobile industry as it will assist them in regaining and exceeding their record export performance while also contributes to resource-based-view theory.

The research examined the performance of export marketing performance through the implementation of market orientation intervened by export marketing strategy and export marketing capability. Primary data were collected through questionnaires from 108 samples out of 148 rattan processing Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in nine provinces in Indonesia. The respondents were marketing managers or owners of SMEs with at least two years of experience. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), which was processed by using Lisrel 8.7, was employed. The results indicate that market orientation, export marketing strategy, and export marketing capability are well implemented in the business operation of SMEs. However, the export marketing performance needs to be improved. Concerning the variables studied, market orientation has a significant effect on export marketing strategy, export marketing capability, and export marketing performance. Then, export marketing strategy affects export marketing performance significantly. Moreover, export marketing capability also has a significant effect on export marketing performance. Finally, export marketing strategy and capability intervene in the relationship between market orientation and export performance.

BUMDes is one of the income sources for the village managing assets, services, and other businesses for the village community's welfare. BUMDes empowers rural communities as an autonomous region in increasing productive efforts to alleviate poverty and unemployment. Therefore, the measurement of BUMDes's performance needs to be done through the level of local resources used and the implications of the results achieved. It was required to formulate appropriate development policies so that BUMDes have high competitiveness and fulfill their role in increasing the community's economic independence. This study was conducted in East Java BUMDes because East Java province is the third province with the largest number of BUMDes in Indonesia, so it was quite representative to represent the presence of BUMDes in Indonesia. This research used a quantitative approach carried out using the structural equation modeling-partial least square (SEM-PLS) method with the Resource-based View (RBV) approach to measure the effect of BUMDes resources used on its competitiveness. The analysis showed that structural capital had a positive effect on human capital and relational capital. Human capital had also been proven to have a positive effect on relational capital. The indicator that influenced competitive advantage was human capital. Training is needed to increase the human resources capacity, online marketing training and organizational reform, infrastructure, and professional management systems need to be done.

This study aimed to find out the influence of entrepreneurial orientation, innovation and marketing capabilities on competitive advantage. The research population comprised Fish Processing Business in Semarang City. The sample was selected by means of the purposive sampling technique. The sample was 100 companies. The data were collected by a questionnaire, interviews, and documentation. This research uses Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis technique using AMOS 24.0 analysis tool. The test results using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis techniques indicate that the model is in accordance with population data. The results of the study showed that entrepreneurship oriented , innovation and marketing capabilities had a significant positive effect on competitive advantage. Used by analyzer for example validity test, test reliabilitas, and hipotesis test use modelling equation structural (SEM).

Current competitive environment induced by 4.0 industrial revolution has forced companies to focus on managing service to customer by provide added value to customers, so that it will increase competitiveness. This study aims to find out and analyze impact of service quality and service innovations on competitive advantage. Analysis method is descriptive statistical and Structural Equation Modeling with AMOS software. The sampling Technique was purposive sampling with combination cluster proportional stratified random sampling, the instrument to collect the data was questionnaire with manager, supervisor or employee of retailing. The results indicate that the service quality and service innovations impact on competitive advantage.

This paper explored the link between dynamic capabilities, innovation capabilities, and competitive advantage of telecommunication companies in Ghana, considering a mediation interaction. Data were obtained from two hundred and fifty (250) employees from selected telecommunication companies in the Accra metropolis through simple random probability sampling. However, two hundred and forty-two (242) responses were deemed accurate and used in the analysis. Partial Least Squares (PLS) based on Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was employed in the analysis. From the findings, this study’s data met internal consistency reliability, convergent, and discriminant validity. Dynamic capabilities had a positive and significant impact on innovation capability and competitive advantage. Also, dynamic capabilities through innovation capability positively impacted competitive advantage and were statistically significant. Based on the findings, it’s recommended that organizations and managers consider both exploitation and exploration competencies in product development as both competencies influence various aspects of an organization’s competitive advantage, as this will help ensure organizations’ sustainable performance and thus remain competitive.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of supply chain management on competitive advantage in SMEs, the effect of competitive advantage on company performance in SMEs, and the influence of supply chain management on company performance mediated by competitive advantage in SMEs. This study uses quantitative methods and data analysis techniques based on Structural Equation Modeling using SmartPLS 3.0 software. The sample selection method uses non-probability sampling methods. Online questionnaires were sent to 340 SMEs respondents, the next step is to evaluate the returned 320 questionnaires. The results indicate that supply chain management had a significant influence on company performance and competitive advantage. Competitive Advantage also had a significant influence on company performance and played a mediate influence between supply chain management and company performance. The company's ability had a positive effect on competitive advantage and finally, adequate company capabilities had an impact on competitive advantage.
