China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a blessing for Pakistan and China. China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) appears as a major ‘Prosperity Tool’ which can help Pakistan to overcome its economic problems. CPEC has been researched up till now in various trade and commerce fields but its most important linkage with education was hard to find. This study was aimed to identify the role of university teachers in developing awareness and providing guidance and counseling to their students regarding career opportunities existing in the projects of CPEC. All the teachers of public and private universities of city Lahore were the population of the study. A sample of 150 teachers was selected randomly from different departments of two public and two private universities of city Lahore. A self-developed and validated instrument was used to identify the role of teachers. Reliability index (Chronbach Alpha) of the instrument was α= .82. Results showed that teachers were playing their role to make students aware of the CPEC projects. They were also providing counseling informally to their students at higher education level regarding the career opportunities existing in the CPEC projects. There was no significant difference found in the role of teachers in providing career counseling to their students at higher education level about CPEC projects with respect to their gender, residential area, type of university, designation and years of working experience. It was recommended that universities should arrange seminars, workshops, conferences, panel discussions and brainstorming sessions for the sensitization of their faculty members so that they could create awareness among their students regarding CPEC and take measures for their career counseling.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the role of administration and faculty members in developing character education within public and private universities in Kuwait. It further aims to explore the value of character education in effecting the quality experience of higher education. Design/methodology/approach The researchers employed a quantitative research paradigm, using a questionnaire survey method to collect data from faculty members at major public and private Kuwaiti universities. They used Statistical Package for the Social Sciences to analyze a total of 298 questionnaires. Findings The findings revealed that universities do indeed play a “strong” role in student character education. However, within public universities, it is the faculty themselves who form the key ingredient in the process rather than the administrative body, which is perceived to have a “Medium” effect. Conversely, at private universities, the administration and faculty both merited a “strong” role in developing character education. Practical implications The study will provide leaders with several recommendations to improve the integrated development of universities through fostering character education. Originality/value While K-12 education has received significant attention regarding the moral and character development of students over the last few decades, this study, extends this research significantly into higher education; focusing upon character development at university and comparing its implementation at both public and private institutions.

This socialization activity carried out at SMAN 2 Tangerang is used as a means to add information to class XII students about one of the options for continuing education to a higher level, namely the immigration Polytechnic official college as an alternative to PTN or PTS, as well as to motivate students. in order to continue to be enthusiastic in undergoing education Broadly speaking, this socialization activity includes presentation activities regarding the introduction of the Immigration Polytechnic campus, registration requirements, registration procedures, study programs, tips, and sharing about life on the Immigration Polytechnic campus which is carried out to class XII students at SMAN 2 Tangerang, where they make preparations. In this activity, the presentation material was prepared by cadets of the Immigration Polytechnic who are running PPL and KKN in the Tangerang Kanim and have been simulated beforehand to fellow cadets and employees of the Tangerang Kanim. The benefits of this socialization activity are that students become enthusiastic and motivated to be able to join education at the Immigration Polytechnic. The benefits that are also felt by the cadets who carry out the socialization at SMAN 2 Tangerang are that the cadets can practice in making presentations and public speech. In addition, in this socialization, cadets also want to inform that state or private universities are not the only options available to continue higher education, the Immigration Polytechnic is one of the official universities that can be used as an alternative for students to continue to higher education. higher education level. Overall, this socialization activity is expected to provide motivation to students of SMAN 2 Tangerang to remain enthusiastic in implementing education and it is hoped that in the future they can join the Immigration Polytechnic knighthood.

This research aims to determine the factors affecting knowledge sharing behavior among academics in United Arab Emirates universities and identify the effect of university type on academics’ behavior. The research adopted Ajzen’s amended Theory of Planned Behavior. Employing an online survey, data were collected from academics in public and private universities using a questionnaire. The model was tested using Partial Least Squares structural equation modeling. The results found a significant difference in academics’ knowledge sharing behavior between public and private universities. Results also revealed that intention is the main determinant of knowledge sharing behavior, and that attitude, subjective norms, and self-efficacy have significant influence on intention while controllability has no influence on it. The significance of this research lies in that it is one of the first to use the amended theory and the only research to address knowledge sharing behavior in higher education in the Arab World. This research provides useful basis for higher education institutions to create a knowledge sharing culture and helps academics to enhance their performance.

Sustainable Development (SD) is a rich, challenging and thought-provoking construct in social sciences. The main purpose of this paper was to identify and explore the role played by primary school teachers in building up the idea of sustainable development (SD) among students. This paper was intended to identify that how a teacher can successfully execute the concept of SD by influencing students’ minds at the primary level. Quantitative survey technique were utilized for data collection. All the primary school teachers of Lahore division comprised the population of the study. Through multistage sampling technique, 352 primary school teachers were selected as participants of the study. A self-developed SD questionnaire incorporating four major factors (teachers’ awareness, pedagogy, curricular and co-curricular activities) with Cronbach’s alpha value = .93 was used to measure the role of teachers in building the sustainability concept among students at primary level. The results indicated a significant mean score difference among SD scores of teachers, sector wise (private and public). Furthermore, the results also reconnoitered the significant difference (p=.04) between the mean scores of female and male teachers in building up the SD concept in students’ minds.

Purpose There have been many research studies on students’ satisfaction of services in universities in developed countries. However, students’ expectation and satisfaction of public and private higher education institutions (HEIs) with regard to service quality in Eastern Europe have been under-researched. Therefore, this study aims to offer an empirical examination of student satisfaction of the service quality of public and private HEIs in Albania by evaluating the gap between students’ expectation and perception and the effect of student satisfaction on retention in HEIs. Design/methodology/approach The survey instrument used in this study was the student satisfaction inventory in the USA. Primary data were collected from a survey of students in two private and four public HEIs in Albania. A total of 554 valid responses were collected from the survey. Findings The findings suggested that there were performance gaps between public and private HEIs. Public universities performed well in terms of concern for the individual, campus support services, student-centeredness and instructional effectiveness. Private HEIs scored well in terms of concern for the individual, academic advising effectiveness, instructional effectiveness and safety and security (parking). There is a significant difference in students’ perception of the overall satisfaction of HEIs. Students’ overall satisfaction positively impacts their retention. Originality/value Overall, this study provides valuable insights to private and public HEIs’ administrators regarding to student satisfaction and retention. The findings will have far-reaching managerial implications for all groups of stakeholders in terms of the service delivery by universities in Albania and Eastern Europe.

Technology plants concrete effects on the supremacy of humans' technological success that have been remaining awe-inspiring aspects for stakeholders; teachers and students since last eras. Teachers make students technologically literate, reshape their hidden potential, skill them through modern gadgets, help in understanding and evaluating their functions applying technological and engineering standards for goal achievements. Present research was conducted to explore the effect of teachers’ technological literacy on students’ academic success occurs in vibrant environment on conveniently selected sample of 200 teachers working in public and private universities of district Lahore. Researchers administered a self-developed survey to collect data from teachers. Content validity of questionnaire was ensured from experts and reliability was confirmed by calculating Cronbach’s Alpha Scores .821. Normality of the data was assured by calculating Shapiro-Wilk’s test, ¬ n < 2000, p > .05. Students’ academic success was measured through acquiring achievement scores, obtained from concerned university offices ensuring ethical considerations, as in data collections. Results of independent samples t-test and regression analysis ascertained no significant difference between usage of technological literacy by teachers’ gender and university type; male teachers working in public and private universities have same usage of technological literacy as compared to female teachers. Moreover, teachers’ technological literacy affect 43% on students’ academic success occurs in vibrant learning environment. On the basis of results, research recommends that universities may established digital lab ensuring vibrant environment and hire technologically literate staff providing fringe benefits to meet 21st century technological literacy demands for students’ success. The research aims to measure secondary school students career maturity level. The research also attempts to find out whether those variables are related to other variables such as gender and educational stream. A total of 1060 respondents from 106 regular daily national secondary schools in Terengganu have been identified as research sample and they are selected through systematic random sampling process.  This survey type of research uses a set of questionnaire and interview protocol. The questionnaire comprised three sub scales: (i) Personal information and student involvement in career guidance and counseling programme, (ii) Career Maturity Inventory. The alpha value for career maturity is 0.92.  Data had been analyzed using descriptive analysis i.e. frequency, percentage, t-Test, mean, and standard deviation. Besides,  inferential analysis such as ANOVA and linear regression is also applied to test research hypothesis.  The result indicates that in general career maturity among the students ranking from low to medium level.   It has also found that students’ career maturity are significantly different based on gender and educational stream.  However, there is no significant difference between the students’ career maturity based on race.  The report concludes although career guidance and counseling programme activity plays important role in the development of the two variable.  The findings have important implications for development of career guidance and counseling programme in schools.   Key Words: Career Maturity, Career Guidance, Career Counseling Programme.   Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur tahap kematangan kerjaya pelajar-pelajar sekolah menengah. Kajian ini juga meninjau sama ada kedua-dua pemboleh ubah tersebut dapat dikaitkan dengan pemboleh ubah-pemboleh ubah lain seperti jantina dan aliran atau jurusan pengajian. Sampel kajian terdiri daripada 1060 orang pelajar yang dipilih dengan kaedah pensampelan rawak bersistematik daripada 106 buah Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Harian Biasa di negeri Terengganu. Kajian yang dijalankan secara tinjauan ini menggunakan soal selidik. Soal selidik yang digunakan untuk memungut data mempunyai dua skala kecil iaitu; (i) Maklumat dan biodata diri dan (ii) Inventori kematangan kerjaya, yang telah diuji dan didapati mempunyai kesahan dan kebolehpercayaan yang tinggi, iaitu nilai alpha bagi kematangan kerjaya ialah 0.92. Data yang dipungut telah dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif iaitu peratusan, frekuensi, min dan sisihan piawai bagi menjawab soalan kajian, manakala analisis inferensi seperti Ujian-t dan ANOVA digunakan untuk menguji hipotesis kajian. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa secara umumnya tahap kematangan kerjaya pelajar berada pada tahap rendah dan sederhana. Bagaimanapun, kematangan kerjaya pelajar didapati berbeza secara signifikan berdasarkan jantina, dan aliran atau jurusan pengajian. Kesimpulannya, tahap kematangan kerjaya pelajar turut dipengaruhi oleh faktor jantina, aliran atau jurusan pengajian. Justeru, sebarang aktiviti program bimbingan dan kaunseling kerjaya perlulah mengambil kira faktor-faktor pemboleh ubah tersebut.   Kata kunci: Kematangan Kerjaya, Bimbingan Kerjaya, Program Kaunseling Kerjaya.

Purpose This paper aims to study waqf practice in Pakistan with regard to its utilisation in funding for higher educational institutions (HEIs) and investigates waqf raising, waqf management and waqf income utilisation. Design/methodology/approach The paper is based on the views of 11 participants who are actively involved in the waqf, its raising, management and income utilisation, and is divided into three subcategories: personnel of higher educational waqf institution, personnel of waqf regulatory bodies and Shari’ah and legal experts as well as archival records, documents and library sources. Findings In Pakistan, both public and private awqaf are existing, but the role of private awqaf is greater in higher education funding. However, due to lack of legal supervision private awqaf is considered as a part of the not-for-profit sector and legitimately registered as a society, foundation, trust or a private limited company. Waqf in Pakistan is more focusing on internal financial sources and waqf income. In terms of waqf management, they have firm guidelines for investing in real estate, the Islamic financial sector and various halal businesses. Waqf uses the income for developmental and operational expenditure, and supports academic activities for students and staff. Waqfs are also supporting some other HEIs and research agencies. Thus, it can be revealed that a waqf can cater a sufficient amount for funding higher educational institutions. Research limitations/implications In Pakistan, both public and private awqaf are equally serving society in different sectors, but the role of private awqaf is much greater in funding higher education. Nevertheless, the government treats private awqaf as a part of not-for-profit sector in the absence of a specific legal framework and registers such organisations as society, foundation, trust or private limited company. The waqf in Pakistan mostly relies on internal financial resources and income from waqf assets. As the waqf managers have over the time evolved firm guidelines for investment in real estate, Islamic financial sector and various other halal businesses, and utilisation of waqf income on developmental and operational expenditures, academic activities of students and educational staff, other HEIs and research agencies, it can be proved that the waqf can potentially generate sufficient amount for funding HEIs. Practical implications The study presents the waqf as a social finance institution and the best alternative fiscal instrument for funding works of public good, including higher education, with the help of three selected waqf cases. Hence, the paper’s findings offer some generalisations, both for the ummah at large and Pakistan. Social implications The paper makes several policy recommendations for policymakers, legislators and academicians, especially the government. As an Islamic social finance institution, the waqf can help finance higher education anywhere around the world in view of the fact that most countries grapple with huge fiscal deficits and are hence financially constrained to meet growing needs of HEIs. Originality/value The study confirms that the waqf can be an alternative source for funding higher education institutions whether it is managed by the government or is privately controlled.

Researchers have hypothesized that there is a significant difference in the degree of Organizational commitment in Public and Private Universities. This was tested in the Public and Private University system to ascertain the veracity of this hypothesis. Data were collected from 150 employees consisting of academic and Administrative and technical staff from both the public Universities and the Private Universities. The results revealed that employees in Public Universities have greater degree of organizational commitment in comparison to Private Universities. Also, job satisfaction increases or decreases based on increase or decrease in organizational commitment. Obtained results were in the line of the hypotheses. In terms of organizational commitment; a significant difference was noticed between Public and Private Universities. Against expectation, employees of Public Universities exhibited higher degree of organizational commitment as compared to those of Private Universities. Most importantly, organizational commitment is being proven as the catalyst for enhancing job satisfaction level of employees.   Keywords: Organization’s Goals, Performance, Effectiveness, Leadership Styles, Trust within the Organization, Employment Status, Training, Turnover Intentions.
