Transient ischemic attack(TIA), being a precursor of stroke, increases the risk of its development by up to 30% low awareness of the population about TIA symptoms, may cause late hospitalization of patients with its development and thereby cause stroke and reduce the effectiveness of treatment. Using a simple, practical ABCD 2 scale (age, arterial hypertension, presence of paresis and aphasia, duration of symptoms more than 60 minutes, diabetes mellitus) may be of predictive value in patients’ hospitalization. It is necessary to start the secondary prevention of stroke as soon as possible. The issue of choosing modern methods of prevention and treatment of patients with TIA, the choice of the optimal method of surgical treatment of patients with stenosis ofthe carotid arteries is currently not completely resolved. Keywords: transitory ischemic attack, stroke, prognosis, atherosclerosis, diagnosis, prevention, treatment.

Peritoneal adhesion (PA) is still an actual surgical issue. It is known that any surgical intervention causes abdominal adhesion that, in its turn, induces a number of complications such as adhesive intestinal obstruction. There is registered a high lethality among patients with the developed acute adhesive intestinal obstruction. Adhesive intestinal obstruction hurts health of patients, leading to eight (on average) days of hospitalization and intrahospital lethality of 3 % per episode. The cause of the development of a significant number of lethal cases is imperfection of preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic measures; 20 to 30 % of patients with adhesive intestinal obstruction need surgical treatment. Heavy expenses in the system of healthcare are required for treatment of peritoneal adhesions. The review presents the data regarding modern state of the problem, advanced tendencies in diagnosis, prevention and treatment of patients with peritoneal adhesions, their use in practical studies.

In December 2019, a unique coronavirus infection, SARS-CoV-2, was first identified in the province of Wuhan in China. Since then, it spread rapidly all over the world and has been responsible for a large number of morbidity and mortality among humans. According to a latest study, Diabetes mellitus, heart diseases, Hypertension etc. are being considered important risk factors for the development of this infection and is also associated with unfavorable outcomes in these patients. There is little evidence concerning the trail back of these patients possibly because of a small number of participants and people who experienced primary composite outcomes (such as admission in the ICU, usage of machine-driven ventilation or even fatality of these patients). Until now, there are no academic findings that have proven independent prognostic value of diabetes on death in the novel Coronavirus patients. However, there are several conjectures linking Diabetes with the impact as well as progression of COVID-19 in these patients. The aim of this review is to acknowledge about the association amongst Diabetes and the novel Coronavirus and the result of the infection in such patients.

Introduction: Morbid obesity (MO) has a significant impact on mortality, health and quality of life of patients. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a common comorbidity in patients with MO. The aim is to study T2DM remission and to develop a prediction model for T2DM remission after two-stage surgical treatment of patients with MO. Materials and methods: The study included 97 patients with MO. The mean BMI was 68.08 (95% CI: 66.45 - 69.71) kg/m2. 70 (72,2%) patients with MO were diagnosed with T2DM. The first stage of treatment for the main group (n=60) included the IGB placement, for the control group (n=37) - conservative therapy. In the second stage of treatment the patients underwent bariatric surgery. The study addresses such indicators as BMI, percentage of weight loss, percentage of excess weight loss, ASA physical status class, fasting glucose level, HbA1c, C-peptide. Results: Two-stage treatment of morbidly obese patients with T2DM promotes complete T2DM remission in 68.1% of patients. The risk prediction model for failure to achieve complete T2DM remission 12 months after LRYGB based on a baseline C-peptide level has a high predictive value, AUC = 0.84 (95% CI: 0.69-0.93), OR = 0.23 ( 95% CI: 0.08-0.67). Conclusions: Two-stage treatment of patients with MO promotes improvement of carbohydrate metabolism indicators. With a C-peptide level > 3.7 ng/ml, prediction of complete T2DM remission 12 months after Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass is favorable.

✓ Two cases of internal carotid artery occlusion secondary to spontaneous dissection are reported. Both patients presented with transient ischemic attacks. Both had antiplatelet aggregation therapy, followed by spontaneous resolution of the occlusion. The period of healing seems to be relatively short. In both cases, restoration of flow was angiographically documented 14 days and 10 weeks after the initial arteriogram. Strategies for treatment of such patients are discussed.
