The term “bank business model” has been introduced in the banking regulation with the Basel Committee since 2010, but it hasn’t been defined. In the article the critical analysis of theoretical approaches to defining the essence of bank business model has been given. It is determined that the only interpretation of this term has been absent, and the authors in their researches have refered to the business model definition. Descriptive and constructive definitions of the term “bank business model” have been offered. A descriptive definition identify the bank business model as a conceptual research tool for the bank, which reflects the logic of making a profit by providing a description of the main elements of business processes, their relationships, as well as the system of relations with the external environment and provides a simplified holistic view of the bank. Constructive definition justifies the need to study the bank business model at three levels: structural level – through the assessment of the structure of attraction and allocation of financial resources, systemic level – in terms of system analysis, which requires a description of the bank's business elements, their relationships, functions, processes and relationships and strategic level – as the internal capabilities of the bank must correspond to its position (competitive position) in the banking service market. The relationship between the bank business model and its development strategy has been determined. The bank's development strategy is based on a system of quantitative and qualitative indicators of development, reflected in financial plans, marketing policy, information technology development concept, personnel policy, the starting points for the creation and adjustment of which are functional strategies, coordination between which is possible if development strategy contains a description of the bank's business model – a comprehensive view of the object being modeled, accurately identifies its activities, which meets the requirements of the time, relevant to the current view of the banking business and allows the bank to achieve its goals.

The development of the system paradigm in economic science leads to the formulation of a number of important questions to the political economy as one of the basic directions of economic theory. In this article, on the basis of system introspection, three questions are considered. The first is the relevance of the class approach to the structuring of the socio-economic space; the second is the feasibility of revising the notion of property in the modern world; the third is the validity of the notion of changing formations as the sequence of “slave-owning system — feudal system — capitalist system”. It is shown that in modern society the system approach to the structuring of socio-economic space is more relevant than the class one. Today the classical notion of “property” does not reflect the diversity of production and economic relations in society and should be replaced by the notion of “system property”, which provides a significant expansion of the concepts of “subject of property” and “object of property”. The change of social formations along with the linear component has a more influential cyclic constituent and obeys the system-wide cyclic regularity that reflects the four-cycle sequence of the dominance of one of the subsystems of the macrosystem: project, object, environment and process.

The children's segment of culture — "music about children" and "music for children", being formed in the media environment, under new conditions needs close attention of scientists and updating of analytical tools for research. Acquiring features and qualities that differ from those previously inherent, this area requires scientific comments on various parameters — in terms of dynamics, prevailing directions, etc., opening new horizons for studying musical culture of the information community. The article discusses the possibilities of using search engines (Google, Yandex) to review children's musical products in the media space of modern society. The changing environment and conditions for musical culture determine the necessity of new approaches, including those from marketing technology for researching the content of genre trends, studying consumer interest, obtaining statistical information, etc. With the help of Internet applications (Trends, Wordstat) there is a prospect to analyze musical and cultural reality of society in the web search mode, revealing the comparative degree of popularity of different objects, in this case, related to the children's mass media sphere. The results obtained allow to state the predominant demand for entertainment products, which is a general trend in cultural life, regardless of the age category of consumers.

This paper deals with theoretical approaches to the real economic crisis we are suffering. I set out the poverty of the theoretical solutions offered by mainstream neoclassical economics and the necessity of a new theoretical approach, which is not obsessed by the positivist method. My argument is based on the work of Ludwig von Mises who was considered to give the best theoretical arguments in the debate on the impossibility of efficient economic calculation under centrally planned socialism. Although nowadays the Austrian School is considered old-fashion and lacking in scientific rigour, I agree with the late Professor Sumantra Ghoshal that it is necessary to escape from strait-jacketed methods and try to understand real economics problems. Our market economy is suffering from what he described as the consequences of bad theories destroying good entrepreneurial practices. For I do think that the triumph over communism is in danger of becoming a Pyrrhic victory if we lose our understanding of the market economy and its dynamic structure based on entrepreneurs and firms. Key words: Human action, Ludwig von Mises, Chicago School, entrepre - neurship, market process, social institutions. JEL Classification: A10; B41; B53; D00.

The influence of social capital on an individual’s educational achievements is the subject of numerous scientific papers. Research on social capital is most frequently based on Coleman’s (1988) or Bourdieu’s (1986) theories of capital, which are related to different paradigms of social theory: whereas Coleman’s approach has its roots in structural functionalism, Bourdieu’s approach contains elements of conflict theory. A number of authors, starting with Bourdieu, attempt to explain and prove that, when connected with the education of individuals, the activity of social capital facilitates social reproduction. Other authors support the notion that social capital is, in fact, a powerful weapon that encourages social mobility. A third group of researchers emphasise that neither of these approaches in isolation can entirety explain the influences of social capital on an individual’s education (Ho, 2003). The present paper offers a review of research focusing on the influences of social capital on educational achievements, while outlining the fundamental differences between the two theoretical approaches that are most frequently used for research of this topic. The aim of the paper is to explain the influence of social capital on an individual’s educational achievements under Bourdieu’s and Coleman’s theoretical concepts, and to establish whether combining the approaches is possible. The conclusion and arguments show that it is legitimate to use all three theoretical approaches.

My goal in this forum essay is to brush the dust off Claude Meillassoux’s (1981) magnum opus, Maidens, Meal and Money, by demonstrating its relevance for the present day. While Meillassoux wrote primarily about precapitalist agricultural communities, he had sketched on their basis a model of social reproduction that incorporates social investments and powers, and he foregrounded the hierarchical and exploitative reproductive orders by which capitalism sustains accumulation. In the context of a renewed interest by feminist scholars in questions of social reproduction, I argue that the analytical tools developed by Meillassoux are at least as helpful in making sense of the age of financialization.

The advent of new enabling technologies and the surge in corporate scandals has combined to increase the supply, the demand, and the development of enabling technologies for a new system of continuous assurance and measurement. This paper positions continuous assurance (CA) as a methodology for the analytic monitoring of corporate business processes, taking advantage of the automation and integration of business processes brought about by information technologies. Continuous analytic monitoring-based assurance will change the objectives, timing, processes, tools, and outcomes of the assurance process. The objectives of assurance will expand to encompass a wide set of qualitative and quantitative management reports. The nature of this assurance will be closer to supervisory activities and will involve intensive interchange with more of the firm's stakeholders than just its shareholders. The timing of the audit process will be very close to the event, automated, and will conform to the natural life cycle of the underlying business processes. The processes of assurance will change dramatically to being meta-supervisory in nature, intrusive with the potential of process interruption, and focusing on very different forms of evidential matter than the traditional audit. The tools of the audit will expand considerably with the emergence of major forms of new auditing methods relying heavily on an integrated set of automated information technology (IT) and analytical tools. These will include automatic confirmations (confirmatory extranets), control tags (transparent tagging) tools, continuity equations, and time-series cross-sectional analytics. Finally, the outcomes of the continuous assurance process will entail an expanded set of assurances, evergreen opinions, some future assurances, some improvement on control processes (through incorporating CA tests), and some improved data integrity.
