The objectives of this research were to find out whether the use of Prezi with KWL Strategy enhances the reading comprehension and the students’ interest. This research employed quasi-experimental design. The population of this research was the first-grade students of SMAN 5 Makassar in academic 2015/2016. This research employed cluster random sampling technique. The sample consisted of 72 students which belong to two classes; 36 students in experimental class and also 36 students in control class. Research instruments were used to collect the data in this research namely reading comprehension test and questionnaire. The result of the students’ reading score in this research showed that the experimental class improved significantly from 69.69 up to 86.61. While in control class the result improved from 66.22 up to 75.89. Therefore, the significant values of Independent t-test 0.000 < α = 0.05. It means that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. Moreover, based on the students’ response on questionnaire showed that the mean score of interest was 80.61 and it was categorized as interested. Keywords: KWL Strategy, Prezi, reading comprehension, interest

The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of using self-explanation reading training (sert) strategy on students’ reading comprehension. This research applied a Quasi-experimental research. There were 44 students as sample from 153 students of eleventh grade at MA Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru by using cluster random sampling technique. This researcher used multiple choice test. T-test was used to analyze the data. This research used an independent t-test formula by using SPSS 16 version. Based on the analysis of T-test Formula, Ha is accepted because the sig. value is 0.000<0.05. The research was conclude that there is significant difference of using Self-Explanation Reading Training (SERT) Strategy on reading comprehension in report text of the eleventh grade students at MA Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru.

The objective of this research is to find out whether the use of LRD Strategy can improve reading comprehension of grade ten students particularly in descriptive text. This researcher applied a quasi-experimental research design. The population of this research was grade ten students of SMK Negeri 6 Palu which consist of 108 students. The sample of this research was 36 students of class X TKJ 2 and considered as the experimental class while 36 students of class X TKJ 3 as the control class. The sample was selected using cluster random sampling technique. The technique of data collection was test that includes pre-test and post-test. While the mean score of pre-test in experimental class was about 49.71, the control class is 58.09. In post-test, experimental class got 64.76. On the other hand, the control class got 61.13. By applying 0.05 level of significance and 28 degree of freedom (df), as seen tha table that the value of t-counted is (2.12) and t-table is (1.703). The t-counted value is higher than t-table, which means that the research hypothesis is accepted. Therefore, the use of LRD Strategy can improve students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text.

The purposes of this study are to find out the effect of REAP strategy on reading comprehension of the fifth grade elementary students of third cluster of Kotagede Yogyakarta. The research method in this study was quasi-experimental with Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population was all of fifth grade elementary students of third cluster of Kotagede Yogyakarta. The sample was fifth grade students of SD Baluwarti, SD Kotagede 1, and SD Kotagede 5 Yogyakarta that were establised by cluster random sampling technique. The data were collected using tests. The validity of the instrument was measured in terms of content and construct validity. The reliability of the instrument was stated good with the score of Cronbach’s Alpha = 0,734. The data of this study were analized by independent sample t-test and Manova with Hotteling’s Trace formula. The result showed that REAP strategy gave a positive and significant effect on reading comprehension that is proved by the score of t-test = 4,914 and 3,286 with sig = 0,000 and 0,002. Based on the result, it can be concluded that REAP strategy gives positive and significant effect on reading comprehension of the fifth grade elementary students of third cluster of Kotagede Yogyakarta.

This research aims at proving that the use of using Skimming and Scanning techniques are effective in improving reading comprehension of grade-eleven students of SMA Negeri 1 Tana Toraja. The method used in this research was true-experimental design random assignment pretest-posttest control group. The samples of this research were selected from the population of grade-eleven students of SMA Negeri 1 Tana Toraja by using random sampling technique. The instruments of data collection were observation checklist, questionnaire items and tests. The data were analyzed by using t-test statistical and descriptive methods. Based on the analysis, the result score of experimental class is 80.27 and control class is 67.02. By applying level of significance 0.05 and degree of freedom (df) 48, the t-counted value (4.3) is greater than t-table value (2013). Furthermore, based on the result of effectiveness indicators showed the score is 83% it means that the techniques are effective. In other words, applying skimming and scanning techniques are effective in improving students reading comprehension of the grade eleven students of SMA Negeri 1 Tana Toraja. The purpose of this research was to find out whether or not it is significantly effective to teach reading comprehension by using Predict, Locate, Add Note strategy to the Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 2 Lubuklinggau in the academic year of 2016/2017. The researcher used pre experimental method with one group pre-test and post-test design. The population was all the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Lubuklinggau which consisted of 440 students. The sample was taken through cluster random sampling. The sample was 40 students. The data was collected through test consisted of 20 items of multiple choices. The data were analyzed through four techniques: 1) students’ individual score, 2) minimum mastery criteria, 3) normality, and 4) matched t-test calculation. The result of this research: (1) the mean students’ score in the pre-test was 62.3, (2) The mean score of post-test was 77.3, and (3) the result of Matched t-test was 10.86, which was higher than 1.684 value of the t-table of 39 (40-1) with 95% significant level for one tailed-test. Therefore, null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It means that it was significantly effective to teach reading comprehension by using Predict, Locate, Add Note Strategy to the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Lubuklinggau in academic year of 2016/2017.

This study is based on the research which attempted to examine the effectiveness of realia in writing descriptive text by the seventh grade students. The objectives of the research were (1) to analyze and find out  the students’ ability in writing descriptive text who are taught by using realia, (2) to analyze and find out  the students’ ability in writing descriptive text who are taught without using realia, (3) also to analyze and find out whether there is significant difference between students who are taught by using realia and those taught without using realia. Quasi experimental design was used with the population of 256 seventh grade students of SMP N 4 Semarang in the academic year 2017/2018. By using purposive sampling technique, there were two classes chosen as the sample of this study; vii a and vii b. The instruments of collecting data used were tests; pre-test and post-test. After the data were collected, they were analysed using t-test. The findings were as follows: (1) the ability in writing descriptive text by the students taught using realia was good with the mean of the post-test was 80.21. (2) the ability in writing descriptive text by the students taught without using realia was adequate with the mean of the post-test was 74.44. (3) there was significant difference of the two group students. t-test 4.89 > t-table 2.00. therefore, ha was accepted that realia was effective as a media in teaching writing of descriptive text.

This research was aimed to find out the effectiveness of using Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy in teaching reading at the second semester students of IKIP Mataram. Research design was quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The sample of the research was 79 students and it was taken by using cluster random sampling technique and the data gathering used multiple choice items that consist of 20 items. The data analysis used t-test formulation. Based on the data analysis, t-test score was 1.804 and t-table 1.664 with signification level 5% and degree of freedom N – 2 = 79 – 2 = 77. It means that t-test was higher than t-table (1.804 > 1.664). Therefore alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. So, there was significant effect of using Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy in teaching reading at the second semester students of IKIP Mataram.

The objective of this research was aimed to investigate the effect of peer review on students’ motivation and ability in writing recount text.  The method of the research was a quasi-experimental design with a control and experimental group and a post-test only. The population of this research was the entire eight grade students of SMPN 1 Tanggunggunung. The cluster random sampling was used in the sampling technique. There were two classes of eight grade students as the sample of this research. They were VIII D that consists of 32 students as the control class and VIII G that consists of 30 students as the experimental class. Tests and questionnaires were the instruments of this research. The data collected from the tests were analyzed by using independent sample t-test and MANOVA through SPSS.  Results show that the independent sample t-test was 0.001 for motivation and 0.000 for the writing ability. Moreover, the result of the MANOVA test was 0.000. The results were consulted to the score of the significant value generated Sig. (P-value) < α = 0.05. Thus, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. In other words, the result of the study revealed that peer review gave a significant effect on the students’ motivation and ability in writing recount text. It can be concluded that there is a significant effect on the students’ writing motivation and writing ability who taught using peer review.

This research aims at finding out the effectiveness of using numbered heads together in teaching reading comprehension at the first grade students of SMKN 1 Hu’u in academic year 2015/2016. This research is an Experimental study that quasi experimental design with non-equivalent control group design. The populations of this research were 120 students of 6 classes which termed as X.A (experimental class) and X.B (control class) were selected by cluster random sample technique from the first grade students of SMKN 1 Hu’u in academic year 2015/2016. It showed that the mean scores of the experimental class was 31.5 and the mean scores of control class was 7.2. Moreover, it found that the significance value of t-test > than t-table. It was found that t-table 2.042 at the confidence level 0.05 (95%) and 2.750 at the confidence level 0.01 (99%). After the writer compared that score of t-test is 4.40 > than t-table 2.042 at the confidence level of 0.05 (95%) and 4.40 > than t-table is 2.750 at the confidence level 0.01 (99%). And the degree of freedom (df) is n-2=38 from 120 students as the sample of this research. After analysing the data obtained, the writer concluded that the use of numbered heads together technique is effective in teaching reading comprehension. It indicated that the alternative hypothesis (H3) which is read numbered heads together technique is effective in teaching reading comprehension is accepted.
