This research aims to determine the relationship of locus of control, self-esteem, pedagogical competence and career readiness to be a teacher on university students. The population of the research is students of IED at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. The sample is taken using incidental sampling technique. Data collection was conducted by using career readiness scale, locus of control scale, self-esteem scale, and pedagogical competence scale. The data are analyzed using statistical calculation method by using the multiple regressions technique. The results show that; (1) there is no  significant relationship between locus of control, self-esteem, pedagogical competence and career readiness to be a teacher, (2) there is a relationship between locus of control and career readiness to be a teacher, (3) there is no relationship between self-esteem and career readiness to be a teacher, (4) there is a correlation between pedagogical competence and career readiness to be a teacher. The total effective contribution of locus of control and pedagogical competence are 14.9%. The effective contribution of locus of control variable is 5.4% and pedagogical competence variable is 9.5%.

The objective of the study was to identify the relationship of different dimensions of perceived quality of home environment and self-concept of undergraduate university students. Correlational research was selected as the research design. The population of the study was university students of the education department of public and private universities of Lahore. The total population was 1760. A proportionate stratified random sampling technique was used to select the sample. The strata were formed on the basis of the nature of the universities. The total number of students selected as the sample was 528. The instrument consisted of three parts; the first part consisted of demographic information (gender, nature of institution). The second part consisted of the Home Environment Inventory, designed by Misra (1983) to measure the quality of the home environment and the third part consisted of the Self-Concept Scale by Rastogi (1979) to measure self-concept. Multiple regression analysis was used to determine the relationship between the variables. The results indicated a significant relationship between the home environment and the self-concept of university students.

Sixty undergraduate university students participated in a study of the relationship between repression-sensitization and selected measures of adjustment, namely, degree of conflict, self-esteem, alienation, anomy, and locus of control. Results indicated that sensitizers tend to report lower levels of self-esteem; greater alienation, anomy, and conflict; and externality. Further analyses identified alienation and particularly self-esteem as best predictors of defensive orientation.

The relationship of locus of control to two measures of self-esteem was investigated in 84 college students. The Berger and the Cooper-smith measures, which are methodologically different indices of self-esteem, were not consistently related to locus of control. It is suggested that these two scales may be measuring independent and unrelated aspects of self-esteem.

Ninety-two university students (55 women; 37 men) participated in a study of the relationship between authoritarian and socially restrictive attitudes toward mental patients and the variables of trait -anxiety, self-esteem, locus of control, age, and gender. Results of multivariate analyses showed that individuals who score high in authoritarianism tend to be young, male, and believers in chance and fate (external locus of control). A similar pattern was found for social restrictiveness.

This study aimed to test the relationship between hardiness and external locus of control on the nomads student in completing the thesis. The population was undergraduate overseas student who is completing a thesis in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Brawijaya University. These samples included 135 nomads student. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique. Hardiness and external locus of control was measured using a Likert scale, the scale of the two variables is made by the researcher. Data were analyzed with the Pearson's product moment correlation technique, with the result, there was significant a negative relationship between hardiness and external locus of control with the interpretation, the higher of hardiness, the lower level of external locus of control on the nomads student in completing the thesis and conversely. The correlation coefficient (r = 0.201) indicates that the relationship of hardiness with external locus of control, was a weak relationship.

The present study aimed at finding the mediating effect of locus of control in the relationship between achievement goals and self handicapping strategies among university students. The sample consisted of 300 university students (150 females and 150 males) from public and private educational institutes of Islamabad. The sample was selected through convenient sampling technique. Self Handicapping Scale (Jones & Rhodewalt, 1982), Multidimensional Multi-Attribution Causality Scale (Lefcourt, Baeyer, Ware, & Cox, 1979), and Academic Goal Questionnaire (Elliot & Murayama, 2008) were used to explore the study variables. Meditational analysis was done using process macro. Results revealed the partial mediating role of external locus of control in the relationship between performance achievement goals and self handicapping strategies; while, internal locus of control partially mediated the relationship between mastery achievement goals and self handicapping strategies.

This study aims to determine the relationship of the role of fathers with self-determination, the relationship of peer social support with self-determination, and the relationship between the role of fathers and peer social support with self-determination in adolescent drug addicts. The population in this study were adolescent drug addicts in Medan Plus Addiction Recovery Clinic. A sample of 54 teenagers were taken by purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was a scale of self-determination, the scale of the role of fathers and the scale of peer social support. The results of multiple regression analysis showed a Freg value of 11,071 with p = 0,000 (p 0,005), which indicated that there was a significant relationship between self-determination and the role of fathers with peer social support. Partially, there is a relationship between self-determination with the role of father rxy = 0.543 with p 0.01, and there is a relationship between social support of peers with self-determination rxy = 0.384 with p 0.01. R2 value of 0.303 means the role of fathers and social support of peers together make an effective contribution of 30.3% of self-determination.
