This study focuses on Think-Talk-Write Strategy in teaching descriptive text to improve students’ writing ability. The objectives of this study are (1) to find out the students’ writing ability of the tenth grade students of MAN Demak in academic year 2014/2015 who were taught by using Think-Talk-Write (TTW). (2) to find out the students’ writing ability of the tenth grade students of MAN Demak in academic year 2014/2015 who were taught without using Think-Talk-Write (TTW). (3) to find out whether or not there was a significant difference of writing ability between the tenth grade students of MAN Demak in academic year 2014/2015 who were taught with Think-Talk-Write (TTW) strategy and without Think-Talk-Write (TTW). The research was Quasi-Experimental research. The subject of the study was the tenth grade students of MAN Demak. Cluster sampling is used in taking the sample. 40 students from class X-5 were selected as the experiment group and 40 students from class X-1 as the control group. The t-test was used to analyze the data. Experiment research was used here to get the data. The pre-test was given to the students on both of groups. After that, the difference treatment was given in experimental group. At the end of the research, the post-test was given to both of groups. The count of the mean score of the experimental class was 79.95 and the count of mean score of the control class was 76.17. It shows that teaching descriptive text by using Think-Talk-Write (TTW) Strategy gave better result as indicated significant statistical t-test computation, that the t-table value (t5% = 2.03 and t1% = 2.80) is less than t0 = 13.09 (2.03<13.09>2.80). It could be seen that there is a significant difference in writing ability of the tenth grade students of MAN Demak after being taught using Think-Talk-Write (TTW) Strategy. The researcher offers some suggestions in this research. The school should give good facilities and many strategies for teaching and learning process. For the teacher, the teacher should give variation teaching especially using new techniques and strategies in teaching descriptive text to improve students’ writing ability. For the students, the students have to do more active, confident and creative.

This final project focuses on Alvin and the Chipmunks film in spoken narrative text to improve students’ speaking skill. The objectives of this study are (1) to find out the students’ speaking ability before being taught by using Alvin and the Chipmunks film in spoken narrative text, (2) to find out the students’ speaking ability after being taught Alvin and the Chipmunks film in spoken narrative text, and (3) to find out whether or not there is significant difference of the students’ speaking ability before and after being taught using Alvin and the Chipmunks film at storytelling. In this study, the population was the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Gubug in the academic year 2013/2014. The number of the population was 324 students classified into 9 classes. Cluster sampling is used in taking the sample. 69 students are selected as sample out of 324 students that consist of 36 students from class Xi as the experiment group and 33 students XH as the control group. Experiment research was used here to get the data. The pre-test is given to the students on both of groups. After that, the difference treatments are given in experimental group. At the end of the research, the post-test is given to both of groups. In experiment group, the students retell the story of Alvin and the Chipmunks after watching the film and in control groups the students retell without watching the film in front of the class. The mean score of the experiment group 72.08 was higher than the mean score of the control group 65.455. The t-test application to the scores of two groups showed that the valuable (9,67) is higher than t-table (1.996). It can be seen that there is a significance difference speaking ability of the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Gubug after being taught using Alvin and the Chipmunks film. To overcome these problems, the researcher offers some suggestions. For the school, the school should give good facilities and many media for teaching and learning process. For the teacher, the teacher should give variation teaching especially using media in spoken narrative text to improve students’ speaking skill. For the students, the students have to do more active, confident, and practice to practice speaking English

This study was conducted to determine the difference of learning outcomes with the application of Mathematics learning with the application of Dienes Theory learning and the application of conventional learning in the fourth grade students of 02 N Bener Tengaran District in the first semester of academic year 2016/2017. This study is a quasi-experimental study. The design of this study used Posttest Only Control Design, that there were two groups selected at random, and then treated, then after the posttest treatment was given to determine the final result if there is a significant influence of learning by using Dienes Theory. The subjects of this study were the students of grade IV N Bener 01 with the number 32 and SD 02 N Bener Kabupaten Tengaran amounted to 34 students. The group was divided into two groups namely the class II SD N Bener experiment with the application of learning theory of Dienes, while the control group 01 SD N Bener was given the application of conventional learning. The average result of posttest score that has been done on control and experiment group is 76.06 and 79.26. While the test results are known 7,700 t-test with a significance value of 0.002. Based on t-test results and significance values of 0.002 ˂ 0.05, there is a significant difference in learning using Diene Theory of conventional learning. Based on posttest result in control group and experiment group, data analysis by using t-test, it can be concluded that there are differences of learning result of Mateatika using Dienes Theory and conventional learning on students of SD N Bener 02 District of Tengaran semester 1 academic year 2016/2017.

The research consists of two variables, namely the independent variable (Instagram) and the dependent variable (writing ability). The aim of this research is to find out whether or not the use of Instagram is effective in teaching writing Descriptive Text. The population of this research was all grade ten students at SMAN 3 Bekasi, consisted of 370 students divided into 10 classes. The sample of this research was 74 students divided into 2 classes, taken from the population using Cluster Random Sampling Technique. This research used the Quasi Experimental Method, and the design was randomized post-test only control group design. To collect the data, the writers used instrument. The instrument consists of 10 question items in an essay. They were developed from the indicators of writing as specified in BluePrint. To get a good instrument, it was tried out to other classes outside the sample classes, and the instrument was analyzed in the item of its validity, reliability, difficulty index, and discrimination power by using Ms. Excel 2010. After it has been analyzed, it gained 5 items which were used to collect data for the research. The writers used a T-test to find out whether the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted or rejected. The result of this research presented that there was a significant difference of Instagram on students’ writing ability at SMAN 3 Bekasi. The significance (Sig.) score of T-test 0.000 is lower than (<) 0.05. Therefore, the research had a significant difference in Instagram on Grade Ten Students’ Writing Ability at SMAN 3 Bekasi. In addition, Instagram helped the students to develop their writing, and also, it can ease the teaching and learning process.

Abstract: This research aims at finding out whether or not the use of chunking strategy is effective in developing students’ ability of story retelling to the tenth-grade students at MAN 01 Pekalongan. Quasi experimental research was applied as the method with two groups : experimental and control group. The total subject of this research was 52 students which were taken from two classes of X IPS 1 as a control group and X AGAMA 2 as an experimental group. Face and content validity were done by asking the English teacher and advisor to be expert judgements to validate the instrument by using a rubric appearance of test for face validity and its conformity by curriculum as a content validity. Inter-rater reliability in giving scores to the students’ was done to measure the reliability of the test. This research used SPSS in analysing the data of speaking test through several activities. They were pre-test before treatments, and post-test after treatments. The result of the research shows the significant difference in the story retelling ability between tenth grade students who were taught by using chunking strategy and those were not taught by using it. It can be seen in the result of mean score in the post-test of experimental class which is 89 and control class which is 83 and as a result Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.044 0.050. Therefore, the null hyothesis of this study is rejected. It means that the use of chunking strategy had significantly improved the tenth-grade students story retelling ability in English teaching and learning process of the experimental class at MAN 01 Pekalongan in the academic year 2019/2020. Keywords:     chunking, teaching speaking strategy, story retelling

The objectives of the study were to find out (1) the significant improvement on the eleventh grade student’s speaking ability before and after being taught using Gallery Walk strategy at one State Madrasyah Aliyah in Palembang, South Sumatera, Indonesia; and (2) the significant difference on the eleventh grade students’ speaking ability between those who were taught by using Gallery Walk Strategy and those who were not at State Madrasyah Aliyah in Palembang. Quasi experimental with pretest and posttest non equivalent-group design was used. There were 301 students at eleventh grade students of State Madrasyah Aliyah Palembang in academic year of 2016/2017 who were used as the population of the study. 76 students were taken as sample by using purposive sampling. 38 students from the first class of eleventh grade students were chosen as experimental group and 38 students from the second class of eleventh grade students were chosen as control group. This study used speaking performance test to collect the data in a form of oral test. There were two kinds of test which  administered in this study. They were pretest and posttest for both experimental and control groups. The results of the test were analyzed by using paired sample t-test and independent t-test. The result of this study showed that (1) significant improvement on the eleventh grade students’ speaking ability before and after the treatment at was found since the p-output was lower than 0,05; and (2) significant difference from students’ posttest score in experimental and control group on the eleventh grade students’ speaking ability taught by using Gallery Walk Strategy and teacher’s strategy were found since the p-output was lower than 0,05. In short, Gallery Walk strategy can be implemented as one of the strategies since it can enhance students’ speaking ability.

Writing process involves thinking and creative skills. To stimulate the students’ thoughts to express their ideas, clustering technique is effective brainstorming activity to help the students explore their ideas and write consistently. Thus, the objective of this study is to find out whether or not there is any significant difference between the students who were taught in writing descriptive paragraph through Clustering Technique and those who were not. The population of this study was all of the eighth grade students of SMP Srijaya Negara Palembang in academic year 2016/2017. There were three classes that consist of 113 students. The samples of this study were VIII C as a control group and VIII B as an experimental group. This study was conducted by using quasi experimental method with nonequivalent control group design. Then, the data were analyzed by using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. The result of independent sample t-test shows that the value of sig. (2-tailed) was 0.00 < 0.05 in the level of significant 0.05. While, the value of t-obtained was 5.213 higher than the critical value of t-table was 1.665 with degree of freedom 76. It can be concluded that the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. It means that there was any significant difference between the students who were taught in writing descriptive paragraph through Clustering Technique and those who were not.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan yang signifikan kemampuan pengukuran antara anak yang diberikan pembelajaran menggunakan metode proyek dengan anak yang diberikan pembelajaran menggunakan metode ceramah pada anak kelompok B Gugus Cempaka Kecamatan Kuta Utara Tahun Pelajaran 2018/2019. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah penelitian Eksperimen Semu dengan desain non equivalen Control Group Design. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah seluruh anak kelompok B Gugus Cempaka Kecamatan Kuta Utara yang berjumlah 476 orang. Teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu dengan teknik cluster sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah anak kelompok B3 TK Tunas Mekar I yang berjumlah 15 anak sebagai kelompok eksperimen serta anak kelompok B3 TK Tunas Mekar II yang berjumlah 15 anak sebagai kelompok kontrol. Data hasil pengukuran anak dikumpulkan dengan teknik observasi menggunakan lembar observasi. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif dan analisis statistik inferensial dengan uji-t. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diperoleh hasil uji-t yaitu thitung = 2,7905 dan ttabel dengan taraf signifikan 5% pada derajat kebebasan (dk) 28 adalah 2,0484. Hasil uji-t menunjukkan bahwa thitung>ttabel, maka H0 ditolak dan HA diterima. Dengan demikian dapat diketahui bahwa, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan kemampuan pengukuran antara anak yang diberikan pembelajaran menggunakan metode proyek dengan anak yang diberikan pembelajaran menggunakan metode ceramah pada anak kelompok B Gugus Cempaka Kecamatan Kuta Utara Tahun Pelajaran 2018/2019. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan metode proyek terhadap kemampuan pengukuran anak kelompok B Gugus Cempaka Kecamatan Kuta Utara Tahun Pelajaran 2018/2019.Kata Kunci : metode proyek, pengukuran, anak usia dini The aim of study is to know the significant difference of measurement capability between children who are given learning using of project method with children who are given learning using of lecture method in children group B Gugus Cempaka in Kuta Utara of Academic Year 2018/2019. This research type is quasi experiment research with non-equivalent control group design. The population of this research is all the children of group B Gugus Cempaka in Kuta Utara. The total amount of population of this research is 476 people. The sampling technique is using cluster sampling technique. The sample in this research is children of group B3 TK Tunas Mekar I which consists of 15 children as experiment group and children of group B3 TK Tunas Mekar II which consist of 15 children as control group. The data of children’s measurement is collected by observation technique using observation sheet. The data obtained is analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis with T-test. Based on the result of data analysis, the result of t-test is tcount = 2,7905 and ttable with significant level of 5% at degrees of freedom (dk) 28 is 2,0484. The result of t-test show that tcount > ttable then H0 is rejected and HA is accepted. Thus, it could be know that, there is a significant difference of measurement capability between children who are given learning using of project method with children who are given learning using of lecture method in children group B Gugus Cempaka in Kuta Utara of Academic Year 2018/2019. <p>This research entitled: “The Effectiveness of Using Photograph in Teaching Writing” is intended to find out whether there is significantly different in writing ability between the experimental group and the control group.</p><p>This research employed experimental design. The participants of the study were the tenth-grade students at SMAN 1 Karau Kuala in the academic year 2013/2014. Two classes were used in this research. There were X-C as the Experimental group and X-D as the control group. The research instrument used was a writing test in the form of essay test. The data in this research were mainly gathered through the use of pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed by measuring t-test and SPSS program to calculate the t-value from the score. The finding of the research shows that there is a significant difference between teaching writing by using photograph and teaching writing without using photograph. After the treatments, the mean is 75.43 the standard deviation is 9.370 the df is 44, and the significance is 0.00. If the significance is smaller than 0.05, it means there is a significant difference between teaching writing by using photograph and teaching writing without using photograph. </p>

This research was intended to explain the students reading comprehension through material based stories at the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 1 Maiwa Kabupaten Enrekang in the 2017/2018 academic year. This research used a quasi-experimental method class. It had conducted into two groups namely the experimental group and control group. The Sample in this research were 44 students. The researcher took real data from class to know the students reading comprehension. The instrument of this research was pre-test-posttest with multiple choice, T/F and read test. From these findings, there was a significant effect on the students reading comprehension through material based stories. The data was analyzed by using a t-test and the result showed that the t-test value 4.629 was higher than the t-table value 2.021. It meant that there was a significant difference between students’ reading achievement before and after the treatment through the stories. It concluded that material based stories can be used in improving the reading comprehension of the students.

ABSTRACT The filariasis mass drug administration (MDA) program is one of the strategies to eliminate lymphatic filariasis. First round coverage in Kuningan Regency was 85.4%, but only 50% of sub-districts have reached the target. The aim of this research was to determine the improvement of knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of health cadres through intervention to increase the filariasis MDA coverage in Kuningan Regency. A quasi-experimental research was conducted in Cibeureum and Cibingbin Sub-District of Kuningan Regency using pretest-posttest design from May to October 2016. Selected subjects of this research were 32 health cadres who were given intervention in the form of workshop utilizing leaflets, handbooks, and video. The difference is treatment group was taught about filariasis related materials by an expert but the control group was not. Data were analyzed with paired t-test. The result showed that there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test in terms of KAP in both groups with p-value of 0,000, but there was no difference in value between the two groups. Thus, the study concluded that training on cadres with a filariasis expert could be an effective strategy as to increase MDA coverage. Keywords: Intervention, filariasis MDA, knowledge, cadre   ABSTRAK Pemberian Obat Massal Pencegahan (POMP) merupakan salah satu strategi eliminasi filariasis di Indonesia. Hasil cakupan POMP putaran pertama di Kabupaten Kuningan mencapai 85,4% dari total target penduduk, namun hanya 50% kecamatan yang mencapainya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan pengetahuan, sikap dan perilaku kader setelah dilakukan intervensi dalam rangka meningkatkan cakupan pengobatan filariasis di Kabupaten Kuningan. Penelitian dilakukan di Kecamatan Cibeureum dan Cibingbin, Kabupaten Kuningan pada bulan Mei - Oktober tahun 2016 dengan eksperimen semu menggunakan desain  pretest-posttest control group. Sampel penelitian adalah 32 kader yang diberi intervensi berupa pelatihan dengan media cetak  dan video. Perbedaan antara kelompok intervensi dengan kontrol adalah bahwa kelompok intervensi diajarkan materi terkait filariasis oleh seorang ahli dan kelompok kontrol tidak diberikan pelatihan. Data dianalisis menggunakan paired t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan pada skor nilai pretest-posttest pengetahuan, sikap, dan perilaku pada masing-masing kedua kelompok dengan hubungan bermakna (p-value 0,000), tetapi tidak terdapat perbedaan nilai pretest-posttest antara kelompok intervensi dan kontrol. Hal ini berarti tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok intervensi dan kontrol. Kesimpulannya bahwa pelatihan pada kader menggunakan media cetak dan video dengan narasumber pakar filariasis merupakan salah satu strategi efektif untuk meningkatkan cakupan pengobatan POMP filariasis.
