Class Wide Peer Tutoring (CWPT) Strategy is chosen to be applied in order to develop the teacher’s strategy in teaching learning process especially Narrative Text. The objective of the research is to examine whether or not Class Wide Peer Tutoring (CWPT) Strategy can improve students’ Reading Comprehension of grade eight students of SMP 1 Sungai Rumbai Dharmasraya. Besides, the researcher is also designed to study what happens when Class Wide Peer Tutoring (CWPT) Strategy applied.To get the data in this research, the researcher used test as an instrument. The researcher gave them multiple choice, to know how well the students already mastered reading comprehension on narrative text. The data of the research were collected in three steps as stated, Pre-test. The researcher gave pret-test to the control and experimental groups in order to know students reading comprehension level and to cover students score in mastering reading comprehension. Than treatment, The researcher prepared materials by giving treatment using CWPT in teaching narrative text for experimental group focused on reading comprehension and Questioning strategy for control group in order to compare both of the strategy given. The last Post-test. The researcher gave post-test to experimental group and control group after giving the treatment. After gathering the data, the researcher analyzed the students’ result by using a statistical formula which is called t-test. The researcher calculated the significant differences for Class Wide Peer Tutoring. By using CWPT strategy the teacher can increase students ability in reading comprehensin. The finding reveal that Class Wide Peer Tutoring (CWPT) strategy can improve students’ reading comprehension, where students work in pair, help each other to accomplish individual and pair task. Furthermore, in CWPT strategy the teacher guides the students in pair activities, provides feedback on pair fuctioning and intervenes when necessary. Class Wide Peer Tutoring (CWPT)  Strategy as used in this research gave good Impact to students’ Reading Comprehension, especially in narrative text of SMP 1 Grade Eight students Sungai Rumbai Dharmasraya. The use of this strategy helped the students comprehend the text, made the students participate actively in the learning process, gave good response during pairing activity, and provided fun which facilitated more learning.

This thesis is focused on the investigation of the effect of applying animal cartoon pictures on students’ achievement in writing narrative text. This study aims to find whether applying animal cartoon pictures significantly affect the students’ writing achievement or not. The data in this study were obtained by administering a written test. The population was the 2015/2016 first year (grade XI) of SMA Swasta Nusantara Lubuk Pakam and 66 students were taken as the sample by using random sampling. The sample was divided into two groups, experimental and control groups. The experimental group was taught by applying animal cartoon pictures while the control group without animal cartoon pictures (x = lecturing). The data were taken the scores from the pre-test and post-test to both experimental and control groups. These data were analyzed by using t-test. The result of computing the t-test obviously showed that t-observed is higher than t-table (5.21 >1,67) with the degree of freedom 64 (df =N-2) at the level significance 0,05 one tail test. It showed that the application of animal cartoon pictures significantly affected the students of SMA Swasta Nusantara Lubuk Pakam achievement in writing narrative text.

The objective of the study is to find out whether it is effective or not using jigsaw learning model in teaching reading comprehension of  spoof text to the eleventh grade students at SMA Negeri 13 Palembang. In this study, the researcher used experimental method. The population of this study is all the eleventh grade students at SMA Negeri 13 Palembang with the total numbers of students was 392. Therefore, the sample of the study is 72 students consist two classes,namely: 36 students for control group and 36 students for experimental group. The sample was taken by using non purposisve random sampling method. The data collected by using written test consist of 30 questions and the type of questions is multiple choice.  The result of the test was analyzed by using t-test which were pair sample t-test and independent sample t-test was known as: mean of post test in expermental group was 72.22 higher than past test mean score of control group was 58.64. Furthermore, the result of t-obtained was 6.132 and t-table was 2.030, it shows that t-obtained was higher than t-table. From the explanation above, there were significant difference between the experimental group that have been taught by using jigsaw learning model and control group that was not taught using treatment. It means that, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It was concluded that it was effective of using jigsaw learning model to teach reading comprehension of spoof text to the eleventh grade students at SMA Negeri 13 Palembang.

The study aims to investigate if role play and discussion methods can improve students’ speaking skills significantly. The researcher also attempts to investigate whether role play or discussion method that better enhancing the students’ speaking performance after the teaching-learning process conducted. To achieve these aims, the quasi-experimental research design is employed. The data were gathered from 60 students of twelfth grade in one of the vocational high schools in Pandeglang, Banten. Students from two classes were taken randomly and divided into experimental and control groups. Some instruments like pre-test - post-test were employed to collect the data. At the end of the study, many advantages were found to improve the students’ speaking skill including vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation aspect. Both groups indicated to experience improvement, but the experimental group showed more advanced enhancement indicated by their achieving to reach the ‘good’ category in speaking. While none of the students from the control group could get that. Conclusively, students taught by the discussion method show more improvement with 19.93 as their mean score. While students by role-play method have 13.73 as their mean score. It is significantly different from both methods indicated by the significance value score of 0.14 which is less than 0.05. Hence, the discussion method is more effective than the role-play method in improving students’ speaking ability. For that reason, it is recommended for teachers to use discussion method to improve students’ speaking comprehension.

Introduction. The English language is a mandatory subject in elementary, secondary, and higher education in Ecuador. To become proficient, a broad knowledge of grammar is needed because it is considered the backbone of a language. Objective. This research aims to implement graphic organizers in the teaching-learning process of grammar tenses. Methodology. This inquiry took place at a university of Riobamba with a target population of 62 A2 level students. A quasi-experimental research, was carried out with 31 students that were the experimental group and the same number of students as the control group. A pre-test was applied to both groups to evaluate their grammar skills. After that, both groups were given a post-test to determine if the graphic organizers implemented made any improvement on the students’ performance regarding grammar tenses. Results. The post-test results demonstrated that the competence of the experimental group students has been enhanced after implementing graphic organizers. Conclusion. The students were able to clear up their ideas and to establish better relationships between graphical and cognitive demands.

Doing reading comprehension needs active process in doing. The suitable teaching-learning process must achieve the objective of reading comprehension. In fact, reading skill is not easy. Lecturer should use good strategy in teaching about reading comprehension. It also happens for students that they find some hard in doing reading comprehension well. They can’t get good value for understanding the text meaning. So, the strategy is very useful to solve the difficulties in reading comprehension. This study is concerned with the reading effect about descriptive text through Metacognition strategy application. This study learns about students reading skills in descriptive text. This research is conducted based on experimental quantitative design which has two randomized subject. The population were Health Information Management students at Deli Husada Deli Tua Health Institute grade I, II and III. The random sample was taken from grade I and III as group of experimental and grade II as the control group. In every group was given pre-test and post-test in same test but the experimental group accepted the treatment of Metacognition strategy in the study. The result of this research showed that there was difference between the mean of the group of experimental and the group of control. The statistic calculation showed that t-observed (4.1) is higher than t-table (1.67) for the degree of freedom (df) 58 at the level α = 0.05 level of significance. It proves that Metacognition strategy has significantly effect on students’ reading comprehension in reading descriptive text.

This study is aimed at finding out the effect of Engage, Study, Activate technique on students’ achievement in writing narrative text. This research applied experimental design. The instrument used to collect the data was a written test. The population was the 2015/2016 second year students (grade VIII) of SMP N 1 Sei Rampah. There were nine paralel classes that consisted of 30 students. The total number of the population were 270 students. The total number of the sample were 60 students. The researcher selected the sample by choosing only 2 classes  by using sampling technique. The sample was divided into two groups, experimental group and control group. The experimental group was taught by applying Engage, Study, Activate technique while the control group was taught without applying Engage, Study, Activate technique. The data were taken by administering the pre-test and post-test to both control and experimental groups. These data were analyzed by using t-test. The result of computing the t-test obviously showed that t-observed (4.383) is higher than t-table (1.671) with the degree of freedom (df= 58) at the level significance 0.05 one tail test. It means that alternative hypothesis stating that there is a significant effect of Engage, Study, Activate technique on students’ achievement in writing narrative text is accepted. The aim of this study is to discover the effect of applying SQ3R method in reading comprehension. Experimental research design is used as the research method. This research took place at MTS AMIN DARUSSALAM MEDAN. There were 2 classes chosen as the sample with 32 students in each class. The classes were divided into two groups namely experimental and control group. The experimental group taught by using SQ3R method and the control group was taught by using conventional method. The instrument used to collect the data was a set of multiple choice tests, which divided as pre test and post test. The result of the research was analyzed by using t-test formula. The result showed that t-test was higher than t-table ( 3,93> 2,00 ) at the level of significant 0,05 with degree of freedom (df) 60. It means that hypothesis alternative (Ha) is accepted which shows that SQ3R method significantly improves the student’s reading comprehension.

This study attempted to investigate the effect of using a suggested program of interactional metadiscourse markers on EFL majors’ reading comprehension and on their reader-friendly writing. The study used a pre-test/post-test experimental and control group design. An experimental group and a control group were exposed to pre-post means of getting data (a pre-post reading comprehension test and pre-post writing test). Thirty four EFL majors at the College of Education and Arts, Northern Borders University, participated in this study. A 10-week program of interactional metadiscourse markers was developed and given to experimental group students. Results revealed a significant improvement in the reading comprehension of the experimental group students and in their reader-friendly writing. Based on these findings, it was recommended that explicit teaching of metadiscourse markers should be integrated into EFL majors’ curricula.

This research entitled “The Effectiveness of TTW (Think-Talk-Write) Strategy in Teaching Writing Descriptive Text. TTW (Think-Talk-Write) strategy is one of strategy in teaching learning process, TTW (Think-Talk-Write) strategy one of cooperative learning. Think-Talk-Write (TTW) Strategy is starting from involvement of students in thinking or dialogue with it self after reading process. Then talk and share ideas (sharing) with friend before writing. One group consist of 4-6 students, in this group of students requested making notes, explaining, listening and sharing ideas with friends and express them through writing. The problem of the research is “To find out the effectiveness TTW (ThinkTalk-Write) strategy in teaching writing descriptive text?” The population in the research is the second grade students of UNSWAGATI CIREBON. The writer takes two classes of the second grade students as the sample from this research which were divided into two groups; experimental group (7AB) and control group (7CD). The instruments of collecting data are tests; pre-test and post-test. To analyze of data, the writer used a quasiexperimental design. The writer gave writing test to gather the data. There were pre-test and post-test. The formula that was used analyze the data was t-test. It was used to determine whether there was significance difference between students’ score in experimental group and control group.

This research investigated the effect of extensive reading on students reading comprehension. The writer used the quantitative as the researched method and the writer used the queasy experiment as the research design. For collecting the data the writer gave the test for experimental and control group. For experimental group the writer used the extensive reading method as the reading class room and the other method for the control group. After the post- test gave to both classes, the writer analyzed it by using SPPS 20 program to found out the improvement on student reading comprehension after extensive reading implied on reading classroom. Based on the finding and discussion. It can be concluded that hypothesis was accepted. It meant that there was effect on extensive reading on student reading comprehension. Based on the resulted of this research. The writer suggested the teacher to used extensive reading on reading process to improved student reading comprehension.
