Within the legal regime of climate protection, there is a gap between the amount of space and resources devoted to mitigation on the one hand and adaptation to climate changes on the other, clearly to the detriment of the latter. Nevertheless, at least some climate changes seem inevitable and therefore it is certainly necessary to take some adaptation measures. That is especially true in the case of the energy sector, which plays a crucial role in the entire economy. The article deals with legal instruments aimed at adapting the energy sector to climate change. It analyses the general legislative approach to adaptation, the expected negative consequences of climate changes for the energy sector, as well as the current legal regulations in this matter – in order to conclude as to the legal instruments that could be useful for the adaptation of the energy sector to climate changes.

Digitalization is a transformation process which has already affected many parts of industry and society and is expected to yet increase its transformative speed and impact. In the energy sector, many digital applications have already been implemented. However, a more drastic change is expected during the next decades. Good understanding of which digital applications are possible and what are the associated benefits as well as risks from the different perspectives of the impacted stakeholders is of high importance. On the one hand, it is the basis for a broad societal and political discussion about general targets and guidelines of digitalization. On the other hand, it is an important piece of information for companies in order to develop and sustainably implement digital applications. This article provides a structured overview of potential digital applications in the German energy (electricity) sector, including the associated benefits and the impacted stakeholders on the basis of a literature review. Furthermore, as an outlook, a methodology to holistically analyze digital applications is suggested. The intended purpose of the suggested methodology is to provide a complexity-reduced fact base as input for societal and political discussions and for the development of new digital products, services, or business models. While the methodology is outlined in this article, in a follow-up article the application of the methodology will be presented and the use of the approach reflected.

This article discusses the features of legal support for the functioning of the digital economy. Some reasons for the need for modernization of legislation in the context of the development of the digital economy are highlighted. Based on international experience, approaches to legal regulation in the field of the digital economy are proposed, by ensuring such a legal regime in which innovations, on the one hand, will develop freely, and, on the other hand, will be protected from possible risks.

The purpose of this article is to study the progress made in Spain in terms of gender parity and the challenges still pending to be achieved in this regard. To attain this objective, first of all, the authors review the successive legal regulations aimed at reaching gender equality that have been enacted in Spain. Furthermore, the considerations and findings made are based on the use of quantitative and qualitative methodologies. On the one hand, from a quantitative viewpoint, different statistical data provided mainly by the Spanish Statistics National Institute are analyzed. From these data, the authors prepare a set of tables and figures that allow them to show that, despite the undoubted legislative advances attained, clear gender inequalities continue in Spain. On the other hand, the authors base their assertions both on their participant observation and on a reinterpretation and reanalysis of the results of two previous qualitative researches. One of the most remarkable outcomes of the use of this qualitative methodology is the persistence in Spain of diverse signs of macho mentality. This persistence not only manifests itself among many men, it is also shared by a large number of women.

Coral reefs are highly productive marine ecosystems that harborahigh biodiversity. The forming organisms of these reefs are the scleractinian corals, which form symbiotic interactions with multiple microorganisms. One of the best known symbiotic interactions in these systems is the one established with the microalgae Symbiodinium. The microalgae produce through photosynthesis up to 90% of the energy required by the coral. On the other hand, Symbiodiniumreceives from the coral an appropriate niche, that protects Symbiodiniumfrom the external environment, from the competition with other organisms and predation; it also provides abundant nutrients produced by other coral symbiontshighlighting the bacteria. As well as this, multiple symbiotic interactions confer metabolic capabilities to corals, which have enabled their capacity to adapt to climate changes for millions of years. However, in recent decades coral reef ecosystems are being extensively decimated. Given the new characteristics of an environment with significant changes sometimes somewhat erratic, probably the interactions that initially provided ecological advantages to corals are no longer sufficient to overcome environmental adversities or that as a result of the changes generated in the environment. The diversity of microorganisms capable of interactions that can be formed with the few remaining microorganisms do not confer to the coral, sufficient adaptative advantages to face the challenge of climate change. In this essay, we argue about the possibility that a decrease in the stock of microorganisms capable of interacting with corals, as a result of marine pollution, is a cause of the loss of biological aptitude of corals to survive in the current global climate change.

Indian agriculture is the monsoon gamble and this gamble is staring at the Indian economy and the Indian public in a vacuum laid on their shoulders since time immemorial. The condition of the situation is that in the absence of water, is Indian agriculture only India's industrial businesses, factories and the entire economy stalled. Lack of water, deepening power crisis, dry fields and closed factories have affected our national product on the one hand and our international exports on the other. Consequently on the one hand supply of foreign currency shortage and on the other hand heavy financial management to deal with the current problems."If there was no water, it would be water."Water is called "Adi Shakti", Amrit etc. in our weapons here. The article considers current problems of shadow economy, reveals its positive role and negative consequences for Russia and its regions. It is shown that shadow economy represents, on the one hand, a social stabilizer, the sphere of survival of a considerable part of the population, and on the other - a powerful factor of braking development of the society. Therefore the state policy has to be focused on active legalization of shadow economy.

This text is an attempt at a sociological description of the phenomenon of street trading as a form of (in)visible presence in the public space of the city. Street traders are (in)visible in the sense that, in breaking the legal regulations setting the frame for public visibility, they must be invisible to the apparatus of power in order to avoid fines and ensure their ability to achieve their aims, their livelihoods. On the one hand, street traders balance on the edge of the law, transgressing the public order, and on the other hand, they are active creators of its (in)visible portion, metaphorically speaking—protesters against the established socio-cultural structures but in reality people seeking the means to survive.

In the article on the basis of a critical analysis of the existing positions in the doctrine the concept of a biobank as an object of rights was formulated. At the same time, it is proposed to distinguish between the organizations in charge of biobanks and the collections themselves. It was concluded that biobank is a complex object, which is differentiated unity, since its elements, on the one hand, are autonomous, but on the other hand, are interconnected and interdependent. It is emphasized that the formation of a single legal regime of biobanks is complicated by the substantive heterogeneity of this object and the diversity of its elements. Taking into account the experience of European States in this field of legal regulation and scientific views, the idea of publishing as a basic special law on biobanks, which should establish their legal regime as an object of rights and rules for organizations under the jurisdiction of biobanks, was supported. The need for organizations working with biobanks to provide unprecedented protection is proven. The structure of the legal regime of biobank has been determined and as its most important component a group of rules on obtaining the consent of the holder for the further use of biobanks and data derived from them has been identified. The feasibility of introducing more diverse forms of consent to the circulation of the contents of biobanks is justified.

South Africa is currently experiencing a second wave of resurgence in COVID-19 infection. In this modelling study, we use a Bayesian compartmental model to project possible spread of the second wave of COVID-19 in South Africa under various levels of lockdown restrictions. Our model suggests that strict lockdown restrictions will have to be in place up to the end of March 2021 before cases can drop to levels observed, in September to early November 2020, after the first wave. On the one hand, extended lockdown restrictions have negative consequences – albeit effective, they are not sustainable over extended periods. On the other hand, short lockdown restrictions over a few weeks will not have a lasting effect on the spread of the disease. Lockdown restrictions need to be supplemented with increased rapid testing, palliative support for the vulnerable, and implementations of other non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) such as mask mandate. These multifaceted approaches could help keep cases under control until vaccines are widely available.
