The body composition of a squash player may affect athletic performance as carrying excessive body fat may increase injury risk and impair agility and speed. This case study outlines the effect of a nutritional intervention on body composition, vitamin D status, and physical performance of a female squash player. A structured, 6-week, moderate energy–restricted diet (70–78% of estimated energy requirement of 2,300 kcal) was implemented with weekly support. A daily supplement of vitamin D, omega-3 fatty acids, and a multivitamin and whey protein was used. Full blood count, vitamin D status, body composition, and physical performance assessments were carried out at baseline and Week 6 of intervention. Body composition changes were measured using the BOD POD™ and skinfold calipers. Body fat was 23% at baseline and 22% at Week 6. Mean sum of eight skinfolds was 127.4 ± 2.2 mm at baseline and 107.3 ± 0.4 mm at Week 6. Lean body mass-to-fat mass ratio improved from 3.4 at baseline to 3.7 at Week 6. The greatest increments compared with baseline in serum markers were 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (68%), ferritin (31%), eosinophils (20%), and triglycerides (16%). All physical performance measures improved, with reactive strength index (4.8%), and on-court repeated speed (6.0%) showing the greatest improvements from baseline. This intervention demonstrates that structured energy restriction alongside appropriately structured strength and conditioning training is an effective way to gradually reduce the body fat and improve the body composition of a female athlete.

Vatarakta is a disease mentioned in Ayurveda involving Vata Dosha imbalance affecting Rakta Dhatu, where the Vayu is exacerbated by long distance rides on animals such as elephants, camels, horses, and Rakta or blood is vitiated by the ingestion of Lavana, Amla, Katu, Kshara, etc. The Vata, whose passages are covered by Rakta further undergoes vitiation and further contaminates the Rakta or blood. Vayu's vitiated blood later burns the entire blood in the body and gravitates towards the limbs later. This vitiated Vata and Rakta is called Vatarakta. On the basis of etiopathology, Vatarakta may also be linked to Gout. A 52 years old female patient approached the OPD with the chief complaints of:  Acute pain in all major and minor joint and Deformity on upper limb fingers in the last one year. The patient was given completely Ayurvedic medicines and Panchakarma therapies for 10 days, and Only Ayurvedic medicines on discharge were later moved and the findings were noticeably seen. Hence this study was taken to prove that Ayurvedic management with Mustadi Yapana Basti has remarkable results on Vatarakta (Gout). Observations and outcomes were drawn on the basis of measurement criteria. During analysis, discussion was carried out on the basis of whole findings. On the basis of the outcome, conclusions were taken.

Distal radius fracture is one of the most common fractures with an incidence of 195.2/100,000 persons per year. The objective of this study was to observe the effect of different drug formulae used in traditional medicine in Sri Lanka for the fractures. 46 years old female patient with distal end radius fracture was se-lected from traditional orthopedic dispensary at Rathnapura district in Sri Lanka. Duration of the study was 5 weeks. It was observed that six prescriptions were used for the treatment. Improvements of main clinical features i.e. Sandhi Shula (Pain), Sandhi Shotha (local swelling), Sparsha Asahyathawa (local tenderness), Sandhi Hanthi (Impairment of functions) and Vikruthitha (Visible and palpable deformity) were analyzed by using prepared scoring system along with the line of treatment. Significant improvements were observed after the treatment. Pharmacodynamic properties of the main ingredients in the formulae support the rapid recovery of the presenting clinical features.

Vyanga is one of the Kshudraroga1, characterized by the presence of painless, bluish-black patches on face. On the basis of clinical features, it can be compared with Facial melasma. Melasma is characterized by dark, discolored patches on skin. It's also called chloasma. It typically occurs in the face and symmet-rical, with matching marks on both sides of the face. Area of the body which exposed to sun can also de-velop melasma. According to Ayurveda, vitiated Dosha mainly Pitta along with Vata produce blackish patches on the face which is called Vyanga. Vyanga is Rakta Pradoshaj Vikar and in its Doshas involved is Udana Vayu, Bhajrak Pitta and Dushya Rasa and Rakta Dhatu, as this condition disturbed our mental and physical state. In modern medical science, topical steroids have been described in the management of faci-al melasma. However, the topical steroids are may cause adverse effects such as irritation, rashes etc. and are expensive too. Ayurveda treatment includes Abhyanga with Taila, Lepa, Pradeha, Nasya, Rak-tamokshana etc. Ayurveda mentions a good number of drugs like Kusthaghna, Kandughna, Raktasho-dhaka, Twakprasadaka and Varnyakara properties e.g. Arjuna, Nimba, Manjistha are helpful in manage-ment and can produce cutaneous depigmentation that remove the blackish discoloration of skin.

This paper explores the ethnographic methods used to study information communication technology (ICT) non-use among a group of ardent non-users, the Old Order Amish. During a multi-year investigation in two Amish settlements, three specific strategies proved essential to gaining access to members of the target population and acquiring relevant and meaningful data for analysis: 1) engaging a principal informant, 2) privileging the body as a communication medium, and 3) developing new personal connections through existing personal connections. By employing these techniques, barriers to access were productively mitigated. The data collected using these techniques yielded rich insights about Amish ICT use, and non-use and what those variable modalities meant for the perceived empowerment of Amish communities in an increasingly high-tech and globally networked world. This study documents a set of techniques, which have been successful in collecting rich ethnographic data to describe Amish ICT use as inherently situated in a complex ecology of socio-technical life. Additionally, it presents a toolkit for studying ICT use and non-use among the Amish, as such toolkits have not been described in previous research. The application of these techniques for researching ICT non-use in other contexts is also discussed.
