Gender as a context within the learning environment is examined through the results of four studies in the past three years where learning environment instruments were used to evaluate the school library. Previous research indicates that male and female students have physiological differences in terms of brainbased learning and cognitive development. Research has also applied an examination of gender differences to reading preferences. The current research extends an examination of gender by asking the question: To what extent do differences between male and female student perceptions of the same school library learning environment occur, and how can these differences be addressed? The results indicate that females generally have higher expectations of their learning environments than do males, and experience less satisfaction with their actual learning environment than males.

<span>This article reports the development, validation and use of a survey for assessing students' perceptions of their e-learning environments. The Online Learning Environment Survey (OLES) was administered to 325 students, 131 in Australia and 194 in Hong Kong. The data were analysed to examine 1) the reliability and validity of the survey, 2) differences between the perceptions of a) students' actual and preferred environment, b) students and their teacher and c) male and female students and 3) whether associations exist between students' perceptions of their e-learning environment and their enjoyment of e-learning. In addition to quantitative data, unstructured interviews were used to provide a more in depth understanding of the e-learning environments created. These data provide valuable feedback to educators working in e-learning environments to help teachers to evaluate the effectiveness of the environment and to make adjustments and improvements as required.</span>

Students’ feedback about their classroom learning environment can be used to provide information about the strengths and problems that need to be addressed. This study assessed the students’ perceptions of their biology learning environment. The difference between male and female students’ perceptions of their learning environment was also investigated. Learning environment instrument What is Happening in this Class (WIHIC) questionnaire was employed to evaluate the perception of 437 Form Four students who took Biology as one of their subjects in a local district. The data were analysed based on the Rasch (1961) measurement model using the Winsteps software. Overall, the students perceived quite favourably on their biology classroom learning environment. Apart from that, there is no difference between the boys and girls in their general perception of the biology classroom learning environment. Further analysis on each scale showed the scales of Students Cohesiveness and Cooperation were perceived positively in the Biology classroom. However, students find it difficult to agree on the scale of Investigation and Involvement. DIF analysis of the items revealed some differences in their perceptions in the scales as well as some of the items between male and female students. Several suggestions were given in the hope of improving and create an effective classroom learning environment. With such feedbacks, Biology teachers and the school administration can strive to improve and create an effective classroom learning environment, provide useful background information for further evaluation phases and inform on the best approach to carry out Biology lessons in the classroom.

Based on constructivist principles, this chapter provides a new instructional design map for online learning environments. This instructional design map includes considerations of five elements, namely, learner, knowledge, learning environment, assessment, and technology. Considerations of these elements are based on analyses of the past and existing instructional design models, online learning models, and constructive principles. Applications of the instructional design map are also discussed in the chapter.

Background: Learning environment is one parameter to evaluate the quality of learning. The learning approach reflects how a student learns in various situations that affect learning. This study aims to know the relationship between the perceptions of the learning environment and the learning approaches in the clerkship students of Medical Faculty.Methods: This research used an analytical observational method with cross-sectional technique. The sample selection technique used cluster sampling. Respondents consisted of 178 students from all clinical rotations. Each respondent was given two questionnaires to assess perceptions of the learning environment and learning approaches. Data were analyzed using contingency coefficient test.Results: Student perceptions of the learning environment show similar results between the number of clinical rotations that have the category of 'good but need improvement' (9 clinical rotations) and the 'many problems' category (9 clinical rotations). Most of the students (84.27%) used the in-depth learning approach, the remaining 10.67% used the strategic approach, and 5.06% used the surface approach. There was relationship between learning environment perception and learning approach with contingency coefficient value C = 0.312, and value p = 0,001 (p <0.05).Conclusion: There is a weak relationship between perception of clinical learning environments and learning approach on clerkship students of the medical faculty, University Sebelas Maret..

Tertiary institutions all over the world including Nigeria are known for academic and moral excellence aimed at shaping leaders and intellectuals for the development of the world. However, the moral fabric that holds the tertiary institutions is seriously eroded because of the menace of sexual harassment to the female students in a developing country like Nigeria. Although, the menace is not only peculiar to tertiary institutions but across all workplace where male and female interact and relate with each other. In recent time the menace has negatively change the integrity and respect accosted for people in the tertiary institutions occasioned by incessant report of sexual harassment mostly directed to female students. Thus, there is constant need and clamour for way through which female students sexual harassment can be fight to the barest minimum in our tertiary institutions especially as attempt to stop this menace in the past has not yielded little or no positive outcomes. The methodology adopted in the study is the qualitative method using a content analysis approach. The concept of sexual harassment as given by various scholars and researchers were adequately domesticated in the study. The paper also beams its search light on some disturbing sexual harassment directed to the female students in the past so as to justify the presence of this menace. The study also analyses factors contributing to sexual assault. This paper presents the full results from a 2008/2009 research study examining the application of a learning environment paradigm to the school library setting. The preliminary results from the examination of the Fifth Grade science classes were presented at the IASL 2009 Research Forum. We now report the process of completing our comparative examination of the relationships among student perceptions of science programs and library programs with Third (ages 8 and 9), Fourth (ages 9 and 10) and Fifth (ages 10 and 11) Grades. In addition, we extend the assessment of these relationships to a correlation with student achievement on the standardized State tests for Texas.

Evidence of how an assessment of the learning environment in an international school library equips the teacher librarian with valuable data that may challenge assumptions of how the learning environment is perceived by students is presented through disclosure of the full results of a two year research study examining the application of a learning environment paradigm to the lower school library setting in an international school in Germany. The process of completing a comparative examination of the relationships among student perceptions of their lower school library program with grade levels Third (ages 8 and 9), through Five (ages 10 and 11) is detailed. In addition, the assessment instruments will be discussed and presented. Use of these instruments in this study of the psychosocial aspects of the learning environment offers valuable ideas and techniques for teacher librarianconsideration and development.

Market orientation (MO) and Entrepreneurial orientation (EO) have gained the importance in today’s world. Now these two are considered the main sources in the increase of firm performance. A corelation analysis is performed to understand and determine whether the market orientation and entrepreneurial orientation is associated with the firm performance. The Past studies did not analyze the effect of MO and EO on the firm performance. The research design and methodology adopted is given together with the findings leading to the conclusions related to propositions concerning the variables. The data is collected from various reputed universities that are giving the business education. Entrepreneurial orientation and market orientation provides the basic knowledge about the organizational learning that enables the organization to achieve the high performance and to understand the values of customers (Liu et al, 2002). The paper draws on survey data from 100 students including male and female students. The results show that EO and MO are strongly co-related with dependent variable. However, a few recommendations and future research is also given.

The school library as a learning environment has been described by some as a dynamic domain where dedicated professionals and students engage collaboratively in an active and evolving educational climate. Although the field of classroom learning environment research can be charted internationally over the past several decades, journal article literature fails to consistently and coherently identify specific aspects of the school library learning environment and methods to evaluate outcomes. A systematic search and review of the literature using the learning environment as the primary search term revealed a set of 10 elements associated with this concept but few evaluation methods. Clearly defining school library learning environments could aid in the development and evaluation of school libraries as places where librarians and teachers transform and influence student lives and learning.
