In this study, the purpose was to investigate Personal Information Management (PIM) activity rate regardingfourPIM aspects o f acquisition, maintenance, organization, and retrieval o f faculty members in three universities, i.e., Tehran University o f Medical Science (TUMS), Iran University o f Medical Sciences (lUMS), and Shahid Beheshti University o f Medical Sciences (SBUMS). The relationship between PIM use and workplace, academic rank, and gender factors were also studied. A Persian-language questionnaire was used to measure PIM performance of participants. Data were analysed using statistical tests. Findings showed that most o f the participants preferred desktop computers for saving theirpersonal digital information. Also, the percentage of PIM use by the faculty members was reported as 50-75%. However, no significant associations between PIM use by the faculty members and their workplace, academic rank, andgenderwerefound.

MEDICAL SCIENCE COURSE: University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine announces a correlated basic medical science course for the fall of 1970. The program, of one semester duration designed to provide a background in the basic sciences, lasts 15 weeks and includes 3 hours per day of formal teaching by senior faculty members and 4 hours per day of clinical teaching by discipline (medicmne, surgery, physical medicine, pediatrics, cardiology, gastroenterology, and dermatology.) This course affords a unique opportunity to participate in an informative and stimulating full time, full semester program directed to the clinical correlation of the basic sciences in a medical practice setting.

Traditional (often synonymous with complementary) medicine can be defined as the knowledge, skill, and practices, based on the theories, beliefs, and experiences indigenous to different cultures, which are used in the maintenance of health and the prevention, diagnosis, improvement, or treatment of illness. These practices are found in almost every country, and demand for them is increasing. For individual patients, when of proven quality, safety, and efficacy, traditional medicine contributes to the goal of ensuring that all people have access to care that they feel they need. For medical science, investigators in traditional fields have discovered new medicines with which to combat important diseases, including the sympathomimetic ephedrine, the antimalarial artemisinin, and arsenic trioxide used in the treatment of promyelocytic leukaemia.

This study aims to compare quality gap of educational services at Zahedan University of Medical Sciences from students and faculties viewpoints. In a cross-sectional study, survey questionnaire was completed by two distinct groups of respondents– 230 faculty members and 384 students. Mass majority of the both groups declared there was negative gap in each of the five dimensions. Mean quality gaps from viewpoint of both groups were negative. The largest mean quality gap from students and faculty members viewpoint was in the responsiveness and tangibility dimensions respectively. The largest and smallest differences between students and faculties viewpoint were in the responsiveness and tangibility dimensions. Introduction: Mentor-mentee program is essential for mentees’ development. The objective of this paper was to investigate mentees’ perceptions on their mentors. Methods: A questionnairesurvey among all-50 clinical-medical students who mentored by 16 faculty members at Widad University College(WUC)Malaysia, was conducted in 2019.A standardized-questionnaire that examined the mentorship-roles, communication-frequencies, mentor-mentee-relationships and mentoring-effectiveness was used. Relationship was measured by a 4-point scale against each of satisfaction, importance, support, and impact while effectiveness was measured using 0-5 scale on 11-behavioral-skills. Results: Response rate was 92%; only 17% mentees perceived, their mentors played all five mentorship-roles while 30% played only one role. Though 41% mentees had ≥6 communications per-semester with mentors, one year-5 mentee had no-communication at all. Over 16 mentor-mentee relationship and 55 mentoring-effectiveness scores, the mean relationship and effectiveness score was 12.03(75%) and 37.45(72%) respectively. Mentees expected more communication-sessions and their contributions to be acknowledged. Conclusion: Mentor-mentee program at WUC revealed 75% and 72% respectively in mentormentee- relationship and mentoring-effectiveness, which is good. However, faculty needs to play more mentorship-roles and acknowledged mentees’ contributions. Addition of portfolio and reflective-writing in the curriculum will benefits in monitoring mentees’ development. Educational managers should pay attention to this and adequate training of mentors to fulfil the mentees’ needs. Bangladesh Journal of Medical Science Vol.20(4) 2021 p.840-847

This article discusses the history of traditional medicine in Central Asia. Central Asia is one of the centers of traditional medicine. Since ancient times, medicine has developed here. In the period of the Muslim Renaissance, medicine rose to its peak here. One well-known tabib was Abu Sakhl Masikhiy. He wrote a book on medicine "Kitob al - Mi'a." He was one of the mentors of Ibn Sina and encouraged to write a canon of medical science. The Canon of Medicine - is the great medical work of Avicenna. Their completed in 1025. Great Unani physicians of the East Al-Beruny and Abu Ali ibn Sina (Avicenna) wrote their enormous works in the Arabian language. Avicenna and his school played a big role in the development of medicine in the world. Above-mentioned proposals can be inferred: In Central Asia, Unani medicine developed for many centuries, this area was one of the hotbeds of this school and has a peculiar character.

Background: Computer vision syndrome (CVS) is a group of eye problems that result from using the computer for a long time, it became a health problem. This syndrome is characterized by several symptoms including eyestrain, headaches and neck pain. The aim of the study was to investigate the knowledge, attitude, and practice of faculty members' about computer vision syndrome, Majmaah University, Saudi Arabia.Methods: The present study is cross-sectional study, which was conducted in Majmaah city in Sudair area in the north of Riyadh region. The study included faculty members of the College of Medicine and medical science college, Majmaah University.Results: There were 86 (74.8%) males, and 29 (25.2%) females participated in this study. The mean±SD of years using a computer by participants was 14.78±5.69 years and the mean±SD of hours spent using a computer daily was 5.25±2.2. There were 91.3% knew the bad effects of computer on the eyes, the most common symptoms resulted from long period of using computer were eyestrain 28.7% and headache 14.8%. The mean±SD score of attitude was 67.75±7.72.Conclusions: There is good knowledge, attitude and practice among faculty members about computer vision syndrome.

Traditional Medicine (TM) is the indigenous system by which different societies provide health care for her members. It developed based on the cultural conception of health and illness, and therapeutic materials that abound in the physical environment of a people. TM involves preventive, diagnostic and curative approaches that do not necessarily align with the methods of modern science. With a pre-historic origin, TM has culminated in its present form through various evolutionary processes including innovation and invention. The system has continued to thrive in modern-day Nigeria, in spite of modernization and advances in western medical science and technology. This is not without modification and adjustments in the bid to adapt to the challenges of modern times. This paper presents theoretical views on observable changes and continuity in the practice of traditional medicine in Nigeria. Guided by the general systems theory (GST), this paper implicates TM’s inherent capacity to adapt to the challenges of each epoch of human development, while aligning with societal constructions about health, illness and healing. Recommendations emanating from the paper will advance strategies for leveraging on the current state of affairs of TM, towards improved access to healthcare for the benefit of the generality of Nigerians.
