Investigating the Use of Personal in Formation Management Strategies by Faculty Members of three Medical Sciences Universities in Iran

In this study, the purpose was to investigate Personal Information Management (PIM) activity rate regardingfourPIM aspects o f acquisition, maintenance, organization, and retrieval o f faculty members in three universities, i.e., Tehran University o f Medical Science (TUMS), Iran University o f Medical Sciences (lUMS), and Shahid Beheshti University o f Medical Sciences (SBUMS). The relationship between PIM use and workplace, academic rank, and gender factors were also studied. A Persian-language questionnaire was used to measure PIM performance of participants. Data were analysed using statistical tests. Findings showed that most o f the participants preferred desktop computers for saving theirpersonal digital information. Also, the percentage of PIM use by the faculty members was reported as 50-75%. However, no significant associations between PIM use by the faculty members and their workplace, academic rank, andgenderwerefound.

Introduction: developmental oral lesions represent a group of normal lesions that can be found at birth or evident in later life. These lesions include fissured and geographic tongue, Fordyce’s granules and leukoedema. Study aims: to investigate the prevalence of some developmental oral mucosal lesions among dental patients wearing dentures who were attending college of dentistry clinics in Aljouf University, and specialized dental center of ministry of health. Methods and subjects: a retrospective design was conducted to collect data from 344 wearing denture dental patients who were attending college of dentistry clinics in Aljouf University, and specialized dental center of ministry of health. A working excel sheet was created for patients and included data related to personal information such as age and gender; and oral developmental lesions. The software SPSS version 20 was used to analyze data. Statistical tests including frequency, percentages, and One way Anova were used to describe data. Significance was considered at alpha level <0.05. Study findings: the majority of participants were males (86%), the mean age was 51.60+ 3.51years. The prevalence of fissured tongue was 10.2%, geographic tongue 11.3%, Fordyce’s granules 7%, and leukoedema 7.3%. Age was significantly associated with fissured tongue (p=0.04), and Fordyce’s granules (p=0.003). Gender was not associated significantly with any of the studied lesions. Conclusion: developmental oral lesions among dental patients wearing dentures exist with varying rates of prevalence as well as it provides valuable basic data about the prevalence of oral mucosal lesions among patients seeking dental care in Aljouf area.

Background: The development of critical thinking skills and disposition in universities is an important goal of education. Evaluation of critical thinking disposition and its influential factors as a competency of faculty members has attracted the attention of educational experts. Objectives: The present study aimed to assess the critical thinking disposition of the pharmacy faculty members of Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences, Iran in 2018. Methods: In this descriptive, cross-sectional study, data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of two sections. The first section included demographic variables, and the second section was Ricketts critical thinking disposition inventory. The questionnaire was provided to 41 faculty members, and 36 questionnaires were completed and returned. Data analysis was performed in SPSS version 18 using t-test and Pearson's correlation-coefficient. Results: The mean score of the critical thinking disposition of the participants was 134.41 out of 165. No significant difference was observed in the mean score of critical thinking disposition in terms of gender and academic rank. Moreover, no significant correlations were denoted between the critical thinking disposition, age, and work experience of the faculty members. Conclusion: Due to the educational role of faculty members and the necessity of developing critical thinking skills in universities, continuous training must be implemented for faculty members for familiarization with various aspects of critical thinking and the required teaching strategies, followed by the promotion of these skills in students.

Introduction: Academics are among the most influential and important citizens in the culture and scientific security of a society. As a result, this study was based on the hypothesis that the existence of a constant concern about the effect of emerging media provides the ground for misleading this group. Methods: This research is a descriptive-survey study. A total of 101 professors from North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences were selected by convenience sampling and entered into the study. The data collection tool included a researcher-made questionnaire. The initial questionnaire was prepared based on the study of texts and review of various sources. To determine the validity of the questionnaire, the content validity method was used. Data analysis was performed by SPSS16 statistical software using descriptive and inferential statistical tests. Results: Among the participants, 36 were female and 65 were male, 68 were married and 29 were single. Also, in terms of academic rank, the majority of the subjects had the academic rank of instructor or assistant professor. In terms of the use of social networks to obtain news and information, the findings showed that about 48% of the subjects used Telegram messenger as a source of their news and information.  Conclusion: Based on the results, it can be stated that the rate of national news follow-up by the studied units has exceeded the follow-up of provincial and international news.

Introduction: Positive attitude towards research can increase the students’ interest in research. Research self-efficacy is an effective factor on attitude towards research. It seems that higher research self-efficacy can influence students’ interest in research. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the relationship between attitude to research and research self-efficacy in MSc students of medical sciences. Methods: In this descriptive study, 176 graduate students in medical sciences were selected through stratified random sampling. The data collection tool was the questionnaires of attitude toward research and research self-efficacy. Data analysis was conducted using parametric statistical tests by SPSS version 15.  Results: Most samples were female (80.1%) and studied nursing (10.8%), while a minority of them was studying parasitology and physiology (1.1%). A significant statistical correlation was observed between the mean scores of attitude towards research and research self-efficacy of students. Moreover, a significant correlation was found between the mean scores of attitude towards research and the students' age and gender. Conclusions: Based on the results, existence of a positive relationship between attitude and research self-efficacy suggests that creation of a positive attitude towards research creates higher research self-efficacy beliefs in students and provides a basis for more student research.

This study aims to compare quality gap of educational services at Zahedan University of Medical Sciences from students and faculties viewpoints. In a cross-sectional study, survey questionnaire was completed by two distinct groups of respondents– 230 faculty members and 384 students. Mass majority of the both groups declared there was negative gap in each of the five dimensions. Mean quality gaps from viewpoint of both groups were negative. The largest mean quality gap from students and faculty members viewpoint was in the responsiveness and tangibility dimensions respectively. The largest and smallest differences between students and faculties viewpoint were in the responsiveness and tangibility dimensions. Successful succession management is one of the necessities in any organization, especially universities. In the management of higher education, succession planning deployment requires proprietary methods. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the status quo and favorable status of succession management deployment from the viewpoint of faculty members at Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences in 2017. In this descriptive-analytic and cross-sectional study, 95 faculty members were selected from the Departments of Basic Sciences and Clinical Sciences using nonrandom quota sampling. As for data collection, the Kim's succession planning questionnaire was employed. To analyze data, the SPSS Statistical Software Version 23.0 and the statistical tests of paired t-test, Chi-square and ANOVA were used to compare the status quo of succession management deployment with its favorable status and to study its decisive factors. The results of the present study revealed that there was a significant difference between the status quo and favorable status of t succession management deployment (P<0.0001). The results also demonstrated that there was a significant difference between the status quo of succession management deployment and its favorable status in terms of policy setting, evaluation of candidates, development of candidates, and system evaluation (P<0.001). Moreover, the results indicated that the greatest deployment in the status quo was related to the evaluation of candidates whereas the greatest deployment in the favorable status belonged to policy setting. The findings of the present study demonstrated that there was a clear gap between the status quo and favorable status of succession management deployment from the perspective of faculty members. Hence, it is recommended that qualifications-based selection be employed as the basis on which succession management and talent management can be deployed successfully and effectively at medical universities.

Abstract This study examined personal information creation and storage practices in digital and print media by faculty in selected universities in Ghana. A sample survey research design guided the research and quantitative data were collected from 235 faculty members of six universities in Ghana. Qualitative data was also collected from 18 willing faculty members, and was guided by an interview schedule. Faculty reported that they created their information in an organized manner and that they created information mainly in digital formats compared with manual. The task at hand determined the information facility created and search words that are semantically related to the item are used in finding/re-finding electronic information. Faculty reported that they acquired their information literacy personally, and information literacy explained re-finding of digital information but not non-digital information. The demographic variables in the study did not explain finding/re-finding of stored information: gender (β = −0.113, p = 0.280) and age (β = 0.038, p = 0.545). This study establishes clearly the pattern of information literacy activities for faculty in the universities in Ghana.

This study well shed some light on a proposed role for Jordanian universities to integrate education on sustainable development in the educational learning process, the study used the descriptive method, and a questionnaire of (30) terms has been set. &nbsp;The validity of the tool was verified. 300 faculty members from Jordanian official universities namely: Jordan, Yarmouk and Mutata University, were randomly selected. The study concluded the following results: -The opinion of the faculty members of Jordanian universities on the idea of integrating education with sustainable development in the educational process was moderate. - The study showed differences in statistical semantics, depending on the type of the faculty, academic rank and gender, where these indications favored the scientific colleges, professorship rank and female sex. - The study hopes that the Ministry of Higher Education will take the concept of sustainable development in the educational process to enhance cooperation between universities and public and private institutions in society, in order to develop new and innovative disciplines that meet the needs of the new stage.

Background and Purpose: Job satisfaction is a positive or positive state, which is the result of an individual job experience assessment. This study was designed to investigate the relationship between job satisfaction and burnout in faculty members of Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 122 faculty members working in Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences in 2010. In order to collect job satisfaction information, a questionnaire with reliability and reliability (Cronbach's alpha, 95%) and a standardized multivariate questionnaire were used to collect the burnout information from Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) to assess the degree of burnout in four The domain of emotional exhaustion, personal performance, personality deprivation and conflict were used. Findings: The majority of the faculty members were male (70.5%), in the medical school (73.8%), with a seniority of 10-6 (35%), and ranked associate professors (54.1%). The frequency of burnout was estimated at 73.8% and 61.5%, respectively. Only 20.5% of faculty members had job dissatisfaction. There was no statistically significant relationship between age and sex variables, years of service, academic rank, educational groups and salary with job satisfaction and burnout (p ≥ 0.05). Conclusion: In general, it can be said that the faculty members of the university have a good job satisfaction, and their job burnout is also acceptable. By examining the causes of dissatisfaction and the factors that contribute to the burnout of the faculty members, Promoted.

Purpose This study aims to investigate the usefulness and challenges of personal digital information management (PDIM) as perceived by engineering faculty members. Design/methodology/approach Quantitative research strategy based on survey design was used to collect data through structured questionnaire. Simple random sampling technique was applied to obtain a representative sample from faculty members of University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore. Findings Findings indicate that faculty members understand the usefulness of PDIM practices for their teaching and learning. They opined that these practices improve their performance along with effective utilization of resources. PDIM practices save their time, energy and money. Nevertheless, they have to face challenges in managing their personal information in digital format including technology obsolescence, bulk of incoming emails, prediction of future value of information, information fragmentation and memory load in remembering the location of information. It is also noted that PDIM practices are equally useful for both male and female faculty members. However, female faculty members have to face more PDIM challenges than male faculty members. Practical implications Overall, findings of the study reveal that there are benefits of PDIM and it is useful for faculty members with certain challenges. This study identified five major challenges. All these challenges were from technological and cognitive psychology domain. It is noted that assessing future value of information plays important role in overall process of PDIM. Originality/value The present study would be valuable addition in literature and it would be helpful in devising information literacy instructions programs in academic libraries. This study would also helpful for improving quality services for teaching as required by Pakistan Engineering Council. Findings of this study would helpful for system engineers, software developers and system librarians in designing and developing personal information management systems in Pakistan.
